The steak sandwich had a sweetness to it, almost like a Korean short rib marinade. I wish there was more steak in the sandwich. Service: 3.5/5 The staff is attentive and fast, almost a bit overbearing. We didn't have a chance to try our food yet and our waitress asked us a couple times how was the food. We felt rushed. It would be nice if there was a drink menu instead of having to ask "do you have this/that?" and "how much is this/that?" Ambiance: 5/5 Sally Black's has two floor. The first floor is a bar setting. Wow. I got pleasantly shocked by what looked to be a bar foods menu. First of all, the servings are BIG. Like, the sandwich should fill a professional athlete big. Second, green bay packers bar! Third, many beers on tap. Prices...are a bit steep for the area so I took a star off for that. Other than that, I'll be back. read more

OMG - is this a fun place... Good to be back here since Williston's left. We finally had the opportunity to come here and made the most of it. Parking was a snap and it's only five minutes from home. You walk into what you know is going to be a great experience. Crowded and lots of conversations going on. Everyone looked so comfortable. Very rustic & comfortable look to the shop. A quick look through the menu and we all knew exactly what we were having. Of course, I had to start off with the amazing chicken wings. For me and my sister-in-law: Cheeseburger with Fries. Fresh and delicious. This is one heck of a burger. I like the idea of two smaller patties. It was also a very nice, light potato bun. For my wife: Grilled chicken. This can always be tricky bringing some good flavor into the grilled chicken. They manage to do a really nice job here. All items came with amazing fries (I am very particular with my fries. We ordered the salmon, coconut shrimp, and the kid's macaroni and cheese, and all three dishes were absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. Our server provided excellent service--timely with our order, and prompt when checking in and bringing the check. The owner and staff are consistently kind, welcoming, and helpful, which makes every visit enjoyable. The restaurant itself is beautifully designed and impeccably clean, creating a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. We truly appreciate having such a wonderful restaurant and bar in our neighborhood. A new discovery for us. The bar isn't huge, but it's very cozy. We were given a very warm welcome; we had a table by the window, and we were able to watch the games. There were a lot of locals there, which is a good sign. Our waitress, Shannon, was very attentive. She constantly checked in to make sure we were enjoying everything. We ordered chicken wings and a steak. The presentation of the steak was beautiful, and all the food was truly exceptional. The Lemon Drop cocktail was delicious. We will definitely be back. Trying to figure out a new place to explore, I did the next best thing. I YELPED! I found Sally Black's Bar & Grill haphazardly by scrolling other yelpers page and activities. Crystal P an Elite Yelper posted a picture of Mac and Cheese with chicken. It piqued my interest. I grabbed a friend, and we drove from Franklin Square to destination Sally Black's in Williston Park. Finding this place was not hard to find as it sits on the corner, Sally Black's displayed on a bold beautiful black and white sign, you could not miss it. There is parking in the area just be mindful to read the signs, 90 minutes 7 TO 7. We walked into the party... nah just kidding, it is a song. But seriously we walked into this establishment and country music was pumping loud. I felt way out of place; can you figure out why? Yes, I am not country, nor do I listen to country music. But today!!!!!! I listened to country music. I glanced over my entire surroundings and looked for another person that did not listen to country music, it was just the two of us. We had the best time ever. We came to the conclusion, using non-verbal communication, the aesthetics are similar to that of a Western Saloon. I watch cowboy pictures all the time so I kind of fit the crowd. The hostess escorted us to a table, and I asked to sit at the high top for comfort. The staff was pleasingly pleasant and Brice our waitress was performing her duties effortlessly, without missing a stride. It was crowded and she juggle every table inside and a few on the outside because they offer outside dining. We were her first customer to order a shot called, Woo Woo which consisted of vodka cranberry juice and something else. I had an Arnold Palmer very balanced in taste It was satisfying. We ordered 6 Honey BBQ wings to split. They wings had a robust honey BBQ taste, but they were a little overcooked for my liking, but they weren't bad. We ordered one Burger with cheddar cheese, lettuce, and tomato. Any topping over three are extra. The burger was huge we split that as well. The taste was bland which is not a bad thing because you can enjoy the burger and natural flavors. The French fires were proportioned to a small order. We had cheesecake, D' licious and brownie with ice cream. The brown was a tad bite too sweet for me as I curbed my sugar intake but all brownies are too sweet for me. Oh, I forgot about Ever, the guy that is gracefully carrying 3 or four plates without a tray, Ever has skillz you would be amazed if you watched him work. To conclude our decision, in the words of The Terminator, I'll Be Back! They do charge a credit card fee, and it noted on the menu and there is upstairs dining. read more

The old Spanky's basically. First I love their mac & cheese so much like literally my favorite thing in the world please don't ever stop making it! Anyway since they moved their location right by our house of course we had to come check it out. Awesome new location and it's so nice inside. We enjoyed our meal so much and service was great. I'm so happy they are now closer to us so we can actually go there all the time (used to always do take out when they were down Jericho) my hubs is dying for their wings so we'll probably be back sooner rather than later :) read more

Great local bar for a fresh Guinness, socializing and friendly service but it's a big miss on the food, which is why we were there. Granted the menu is largely bar fare but it's not good. The burger and wings we had were gut busters, which gave us two days of misery. Fix the bad food, bring in a chef and this spot would be a winner. read more

I met my aunt and uncle and my cousin and her fiancé here for lunch on New Year's Day and I was very impressed with everything here. The service was excellent, the restaurant was very clean and rustic inside, lots of space inside. I saw a pic of the French onion soup and I knew I wanted to try it. It was very good, nice amount of onions and plenty of cheese on top. I felt the broth itself needed a little more oomph but overall very comforting on this day after a cold snowy morning. I ordered a chicken quesadilla which came with some of the hand cut fries. I liked it but I would have loved some pico de gallo or salsa to cut the richness of the cheese. I definitely want to try some other things on the menu, the soups are homemade (my aunt enjoyed the chicken stew, like pot pie filling without the crust). It's easy to find, right next to the Williston Park LIRR station. Reasonably priced and you have a lot of options. read more

First the people here are great. Friendly and very attentive service. Portions were big (took 2 boxes home) and pricing fair. Had some fantastic fish and chips. Fish was incredibly light and the coating was crispy and light. We vacation a lot at the shore and this fish compared very favorably with Cape Cod, Montauk and the coast of Maine. Yesterday, I dropped by with a friend for a drink, and I was struck by how beautiful and welcoming the place is. The atmosphere is fantastic! The bartender was exceptional--friendly and engaging. The warmth and friendly vibes start from the moment you walk in and are greeted by the staff. If you're lucky the owner and his son will be there and they personify the warm family feeling. The atmosphere is relaxed but the exposed brick and the decor give it a nice restaurant/pub feel. The food is excellent and the portions are large enough to satisfy a big appetite but not ridiculous. Try the burgers, the sandwiches- my favorites are the Spanky melt and the Balsamic grilled chicken. They're famous for their wings so you must give those a try if you like wings. There's a good selection of appetizers- recommend the buffalo chicken dip and the nachos. I've tried some of their cocktails which were delicious. They have a nice selection of beers at their 2 bars- yes, there are 2 floors, each with a full bar and there is an elevator for accessibility. Last but not least, the service is consistently good. Everyone is friendly and attentive. Give this place a try and you'll definitely go back. read more
