Been a long time since I reviewed Besito so it felt like a good time to confirm that it remains as good as ever! The drinks are delicious (always a fan of the Besito Patron Margarita), and guac and salsa and chips are the perfect way to start the meal, and the chicken iron skillet remains packed with flavor, tons of food, and everything you'd look for from fajitas. The birria quesadilla got rave reviews as well!

This is a great restaurant for groups and celebrations. It's spacious and clean. There's indoor and outdoor seating. I came with others as a group of 14 people with young children as well. The restaurant was accommodating. The chips and salsa at the table are addicting and fresh. The salsa has a nice fire wood taste as well as not too salty. I ordered the mixtos iron skillet which had sausage, steak, and chicken. It was flavorful. At first I thought it looked small but as I kept eating it, it was filling. It came with authentic tortillas and rice and beans. It was a great flavor combination. There's also cheese at the bottom of the skillet. I'm not sure if the price and portion was worth the value but for the area, it's decent. The ambiance and service were good. The parking lot with free parking was convenient.

Staff were friendly & timely. Our server was great. The atmosphere was nice & chill. The food was amazing at a decent price. Will definitely come back when in the area. Two thumbs up!

Ambiance (5/5): There was plenty of outdoor and indoor seating during peak hours on a Saturday evening. The space is large and there were regular tables and we sat in a comfy large booth for our party of 5. The music and background noise was not too loud that we heard each other with no problems. Service (5/5): We were serviced quickly and often. Staff was helpful and friendly. Guac (4/5): The single portion seemed like plenty for us to enjoy and we had a free refill of the chips as well. The guac was pretty standard. It was not mixed in front of us. Spare Ribs (5/5): The flavors were on point and the meat fell off the bone! The sauce was a little spicy and finger-licking-good! Watermelon was a nice touch. Enchilada Mixta (5/5): I also very much enjoyed this! Halibut (N/A): Tasted healthy but seasoned through. The meat was a little on the dry side. Steak (5/5): Super tender with all the flavors absorbed in. Corn (3/5): Nothing to write home about for the elote.Overall, the food was delicious!

Our service was excellent and the ambiance was very nice. I had the red snapper and I thought it was very delicious. My only complaint would be that the restaurant appeared to have an ac problem as it was so hot in the restaurant.

Great upscale Mexican restaurant in Roslyn! We loved the overall feel, cleanliness of the restaurant, the service and food here. I ordered the crispy shrimp tacos that had just the right amount of taste and texture. The main entree that I got was the ribs which were not truly fall off the bone and a bit too strongly flavored. I got the flan for dessert, and it had an interesting topping on it. Highly recommended!

    Do they have music?

    No live music... sorry

Do you have to make a reservation for Sunday Brunch?

I asked the staff. They said it is best to make a reservation. The Brunch Hours on Sunday are some of their busiest times.

Will they customize dishes if you don't want certain things in them?

Yes! I swapped sauces and vegetables and meats before - basically making my own customized dish! Just if you switch (for example) chicken for steak, then you should expect an increase in price.

Do u have any hour hour specials ? If so what's the hours?

    I don't think they do.

Do they have a sister restaurant?

They have an identical location in Huntington

The restaurant, Gatsby's Landing, draws its name from the romantic nostalgia of The Great Gatsby. Situated near the Long Island Sound and Roslyn Pond, the setting offered a beautiful waterfront ambiance. My wife opted for the Baby Roasted Beets Salad, Salmon, and Crème Brûlée, while I chose the Lobster Bisque, Squid Ink Tonnarelli, and Tiramisu. The menu highlights their commitment to fresh, organic, and locally sourced ingredients - a promise they certainly delivered on. The dishes were both delicious and generously portioned. It was clear the kitchen doesn't skimp on quality; for instance, the lobster bisque was loaded with tender lobster meat, the squid ink tonnarelli featured an abundance of blue crab, and the salmon was a substantial, thick-cut fillet. The chef clearly possesses a mastery of technique, knowing exactly how to pair garnishes and balance flavors in perfect harmony. Furthermore, the waitstaff was both diligent and courteous. We can see why this establishment is so popular--the combination of exceptional cuisine, attentive service, and the serene lake views is hard to beat. However, there is one area for improvement: the restaurant should consider replacing their current chipped plates with larger, more elegant dinnerware. High-quality presentation would better reflect the dignity and caliber of the food they serve.

Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate, which obviously isn't the restaurant's fault. What WAS incredibly disappointing was their solution: instead of seating us inside the actual restaurant, they walked us over to a completely separate, off-premise catering room nearby. We were literally the ONLY people sitting in this random room. It felt like we had been removed from the restaurant entirely and stuck in an overflow event space and not exactly the birthday dinner or Felice experience we made a reservation for. What made it worse was the host's attitude. Despite there appearing to be plenty of available tables inside the actual restaurant, she flat-out refused to seat us there and essentially told us we could either sit in the catering room or go somewhere else. No apology, no attempt to accommodate us, and honestly just incredibly dismissive and rude. It was such a bizarre and unwelcoming way to treat first-time guests. The food at least started off strong. The bruschetta and eggplant were both great! For dinner, we had the chicken Milanese and cacio e pepe, and neither was anything special. Our server was nice and the service itself was pretty good so I don't want that to go unnoticed BUT being shoved into an empty catering room and basically told to take it or leave it by the host completely overshadowed the rest of the night. For somewhere we were genuinely excited to try, it was an awful first impression and definitely not the experience we expected.

As promised last time, we thought we might even return for an unknown (to us) act. Tonight it was Cantor Talya Smilowitz (Julliard trained, mother, cantor and nightclub singer). Our friends had seen her singing at a Long Island temple. I'm neither an opera nor temple song fan, but Talya was just great! She concentrated mostly on Carol King and Joni Mitchell songs, but threw in some songs from bygone eras, like "Someone to Watch Over Me" (Ella Fitzgerald singing Gershwin) and other diva ballads of more recent vintage. After I got home, I checked her out on YouTube and she does a great job on Mariah Carey's "I'll Be There." She had a guest Cantor for a few songs, "Melissa Berman," and was accompanied on guitars by Stuart Markus from Gathering time (the act we saw last year) and an electric piano player who seemed to be able to play any song that ever was popular. The food was different in that there were some Indian dish choices, but we enjoyed it. It's nice to be able to have dinner and/or drinks while watching a live show with an audience of maybe eighty. The tickets were $53 each ($20 more than last year). There was no WiFi unless you had a room number, so you had to go outside to get Internet. The atmosphere is much nicer than the original "My Father's Place" (1970s-1980's) and I believe the original owner still runs the show.

The chai creme brûlée was good, but the sugar wasn't torched properly and didn't have that snap, crackle or pop which is what it's supposed to have.
