Oil on the plate after taking all the lamb off
    Kelly C.

Just left very disappointed. My partner and I ordered the hummus, falafel sandwich, and lamb shawarma platter. The hummus was too thin and topped extra oil which did not seem like quality oil. The pita was super thin and while that may be a preference rather than an issue, just figured I'd put it out there. The falafel balls were very good flavor wise but the sandwich was on the small side. Not much fresh veggies included. The lamb shawarma was way too oily. I've never had such oily shawarma before (photo of the plate after I took all the lamb off). Based on other pictures it seems that it comes with labneh rather than the sauce I received and yellow rice (I got white rice). It also looks like it comes with more veggies than I received. Service was also not great. Super disappointed overall and wanted to share since this spot seems to have great reviews.

    Mixed Appetizer Platter

Nice and cozy ambiance. We came as a party of 4 and took advantage of their byob. It was so nice that we were able to bring in a few bottles of wine! We did the mixed appetizer platter and then 2 of the mixed grill platter. The portions were pretty good. My main complaint is that it felt a bit... repetitive? I was hoping that by ordering the mixed app and platter that we would be getting a variety of flavors, but honestly, the range was really limited. The apps just tasted fried. Meat tasted grilled. It fell a bit flat for me.

Had a wonderful experience here and I'm actually surprised it's not busier than it is. My husband and I shared everything for this visit. Started out with Tabbouleh and eggplant dip, then lentil soup, then lamb kebabs. To drink we had the mint lemonade which came out as a chunky iced slushy. Although really good if they could figure out to get that ice blended better it would have been perfect. It was all fresh and flavorful. If I were to not order one item it would have been the lentil soup. This came puréed. Mild in flavor. Personally I would have blended half the batch and left the other half of it with whole lentils to add texture. Pita came out nice and hot. Interestingly it crisped up once it was cold. Overall a 4 stars from me.

A very solid spot that executes well across the board. It's somewhere between casual lunch spot and full out celebration dinner. Prices are reasonable and service is ok but quick. Their pita is the thin kind which I love!

The best place ever! Highly recommend the food is incredible I got the hummus and it was so delicious

What a lovely Lebanese spot! We went for Valentine's Day and the ambiance was perfect for that. They had a set menu option for Valentine's Day which we went for. The option was quite expansive and included diverse appetizers, a choice of the main, and a dessert. We went with the mixed dips, vine leaves, kibbeh, and cheese rolls for the appetizer. For the main, we got the mixed grill with the fries, and for dessert, we had the knafeh with the kaak. The meal was delicious, specially the kibbeh and mixed grill. The only appetizer item that was off was the hummus which tasted like it was made of canned hummus. Still, the experience overall was a 5/5 for me and I'd definitely be back!

Got these items and a chicken shawarma. It was okay. The wrap was Avery dry and def needed more sauce. It was a small place which was cute for ambiance but overall wouldn't go back. There's def better Mediterranean in new York

Decent Lebanese place! a Lil over-priced but food is good. Tried their shawarma rolls and liked them. Ambiance is good and service is nice.

Dropped by on a Saturday with a friend around 7pm for my birthday. It was fairly packed but we were able to snag an outdoor table - good thing it was a nice day out! I got the kafta kebab platter which came with three gigantic pieces of meet on some pita, a grilled tomato, white sauce (tzatziki?), and a bowl of yellow rice. The kafta kebab was so flavorful and delicious! They definitely give you more than enough, though I wish they gave a bit more rice to eat with it. The sauce is also a must to eat it with! Service was great. Our waitresses checked up on us frequently and were very friendly. Will definitely recommend to anyone looking for a solid Lebanese place!

What a hidden gem!! I am so happy I found and tried this place. The food is delicious and they use quality ingredients! It's also surprisingly reasonable with very generous portions. Their fattoush salad, cheese rolls, and filet mignon platter (so tender) were my favorites! Will definitely be back.

Delicious Lebanese food in the East Village. The restaurant is small inside and the decor is basic, but the service and food are excellent. The portions are generous (we took food home with us!) and my husband who grew up in the Middle East praised the authentic flavors. Today was our first time, we had a lamb kofta plate and a chicken shawarma plate, I the came with rice, sauces, pita, and chunks of grilled tomato and pepper. We'll be back soon to explore more of the menu and I can't wait!

It was a little hard to hear and converse at times as it gets crowded, but the food was delicious and there are really unique items on the menu. Food: The duck shawarma was one of our favorites! The lamb and scallops were also flavorful and tender. The dips were delicious with the pita, but I wish the serving size for the dips were bigger. The fries were great - well seasoned! Also recommend the milky pudding, it was a nice refreshing way to end the dinner. Service: Our server was super helpful in letting us know what items are more shareable and his suggestions for cocktails. Definitely try some of the arak based cocktails. Vibe: Gorgeous interior, the mirrors and lighting really elevates the space and makes it a lovely spot for group dinners or dates.

We were lead upstairs to a table. There were 7 of us The seating was cozy but not cramped. We started with 7 family style small dishes: Hummus with Falafel Pops (chickpea purée, tahini, falafel, olive oil), Spring Burrata (roasted cherry tomatoes, toast, basil oil), Hamachi Crudo (passionfruit vinaigrette, citrus zest, cucumber, mint, sesame tuile), Scallops (carrot puree, serrano pepper, brown butter sauce), Tenderloin Skewer (zaatar chimichurri, fresh herb salad), and Shiitake Stuffed Grape Leaves (tomato coulis, yogurt foam, herbs). Everything was delicious. The hummus was well seasoned the falafel had a nice crunch. It went well with the warm puffy gyro bread that came to the table. The burrata was wasm and creamy. I love the vinaigrette on the fish. I ended up eating most of it. The scallops were the sweetest, most tender ones I have ever had. The tenderloin skewers were tender and well seasoned. I liked the grape leaves but the rice consistency was very soft almost mushy and you can barely tell there were mushrooms. There was barely any mushrooms flavor. Next we all chose an entree. I got the duck breast, my husband and daughter each had the beef tenderloin. The duck breast was smaller than i expected. The skin was nicely seared and very crispy but boy did it give my jaw a workout. It was done medium rare. It was juicy but tough. The small beef tenderloin was tender and smoky. The waiter poured the sauce over the tenderloin for added flavor. Finally dessert was a fruit plate with ice cream and pudding. The fruit was fresh and the flavors of the ice cream and pudding unique. It was a nice end to a good brunch. The price was a little expensive at $85 a person.

The seating area is fairly small, which surprised me. We ordered the crispy garlic rice, the Piri Piri chicken sandwich, and the famous knefeh and chicken pancake. The server was so nice, she offered us a sample of the seasonal lemonade, which had rose water and turmeric. It did take a little bit of time for all the food to come out. We chit-chatted while we shared the garlic rice (a little crunchy, very mild) and the chicken sandwich. The PiriPiri sandwich came with a huge piece of fried chicken that was spiced and fried well. The chicken was juicy and not super dry. The little bit of pickled cabbage helped keep things from becoming too greasy. After a bit of wait, the pancake was served. It was such a fun experience with the crunchy kadayif noodles and the cheese hidden underneath a super fluffy pancake. The salty and cheesy flavors of the pancake went well with the rose maple syrup. The spice from the chicken added another note to the dish that made it such a great combo of flavor. I could not stop picking at this huge pancake. It's definitely meant to be eaten by at least two, if not three. If we had known, we probably wouldn't have ordered the other chicken sandwich. Overall the contrast in the chicken and knafeh pancake alone was enough to want me to visit again. The textural crunch, the melted pull of the cheese, the sweet syrup against salty and spicy flavors of the chicken. Not only was the whole presentation beautiful, but the dish itself tasted amazing. I would visit Hen House again for the experience.

The fig hummus is something special. Smooth, perfectly balanced with tahini, and unlike anything I've had before. My brother called it the best hummus he's ever had, and honestly I licked the plate clean! The falafel plate deserves its own moment. Warm, crispy on the outside, perfectly moist on the inside, and just the right amount of richness. Paired with the sauce, fresh salad, and rice, it was easily one of the most memorable meals I've had this year. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and thoughtfully put together. Truly some of the best falafel I've ever had. What really took the experience to another level was the service. After we paid, our waitress noticed I had blisters from breaking in new shoes and brought me two bandaids without me even asking. That kind of attention to detail is rare, if I could give 6 stars I would! They are also incredibly accommodating with dietary needs. When the waitress heard my brother was gluten free, she immediately brought out a new plate with double salad instead of rice. Fattoush goes above and beyond in every way. An unforgettable meal and experience. I cannot recommend it enough. I will absolutely be back to try more. Also a beautiful & quiet place to sit with friends or family. We made some very special memories here and laughed into the night.
