Rude, overpriced, unprofessional. I am extremely disappointed with both the service I received and the way this salon handled my concerns. During my color appointment, I repeatedly told my stylist that my scalp was itching, tingling, and becoming increasingly uncomfortable while the color was processing. These are common warning signs of irritation or a chemical reaction. Despite informing her, the color remained on my scalp. When I got home, it became clear that my scalp had been burned. The reaction was severe enough to trigger an inflammatory flare-up. No client should leave a salon with a chemical burn after expressing concerns during the service. What truly turned a bad experience into an unacceptable one was not just the casual attitude of my stylist, but later on in a separate incident, the salon's treatment towards me. When I expressed my grievance to them, first to the receptionists, then escalating to management, my concerns were largely dismissed. There was no meaningful acknowledgment, no genuine concern for my well-being, and no effort to take responsibility for what occurred. In addition, my interactions with the front desk were consistently rude and condescending. The black girl was the worst offender. Rather than feeling like a valued customer whose health and safety mattered, I felt as though I was being treated as an inconvenience for reporting a legitimate issue. Mistakes can happen in any business. What separates a reputable salon from a poor one is how it responds when something goes wrong. In this case, the lack of professionalism, empathy, and accountability was just as troubling as the injury itself. Hello my name is Brittany and I'm just here to say Payton Goldner did a multi color on me and it came out okay but my problem is she was looking all over my shoulder looking into my phone. I got a text a text from my supposed to be boyfriend and she seen that. After I got a text from him she became so rough with my hair I had to ask for a break because I couldn't take it anymore. After the break she was so rude to me that I felt so uncomfortable to continue getting my hair done but I did because I had plans later that night so when we got done with my hair she asked like everything was okay so I went to pay and left. Once I got home I got nasty text messages from her (I know this because I called her to confirm who it was texting me like this) and she said her name. My mom purchased a $175 gift card for my teenage daughter via phone, so we never received a gift card. We recently tried to use it, but Salon 01 would not honor it, even though they had it in their system because they said it expired after a year. We had no idea it had an expiration date, and they never bothered to tell us, even when we called to make sure it was in their system since we didn't have a physical card. My wife had been going there for 9 years, and recommended it to my mom as the place to buy the gift card. Sure, we took a long time to use it, but much of the 1 year was during heavy COVID time. But, their flat out refusal to consider an exception, particularly for a long term customer is unbelievable to me. And this refusal was from the VP of Operations who certainly could have made an exception while looking at the credit in their computer system. I went there a few times prior to COVID,so this is a late review. I did not like how they parade you around the waiting area after they wash your hair and that they do not take credit cards for the tip. I understand the reasoning for the card fees, however the prices are high enough they should be able to absorb these fees. The big issue was that they burnt my hair off with bleach. I had to go to another salon to get extensions to fix the issue. I was able to repair my hair during COVID. I would not recommend this salon. I have gone to different salons over the years due to being in different locations and having my hair burnt off with bleach has never happened. read more

Made the jump to chop most of my long hair off a couple years ago and only because I trusted my stylist. Then also made the e jump to get highlights, also Tony because I trusted my stylist. AVOID THIS PLACE!!! Unless you happen to like hideous orange hair! I was scammed out of $400 and left with Bright orange hair!!! I scheduled for highlights & keratin treatment as a new client. My stylist Shannon told me I was not scheduled correctly & she only had time for highlights. Shannon put on a base color. I'd never had this done before & the base color left with me bright orange hair. I called 2 weeks later for color correction & keratin treatment. I was again told she was scheduled improperly & only had time for keratin. I was assured my Shannon in spite of fact I'd be traveling for awhile we would correct my hideous orange hair at a later date. After paying $100 for keratin treatment Shannon stated it was a waste of money If I didn't pay $100 for Salon 01 keratin care products. I wouldn't have had the treatment had I been told in advance! I was puzzled by this since I'd had many keratin treatments at Cloud Nine for $75 and was only told to use sulfate free products. The keratin treatment was used with no heat to process?? It did very little if anything?? I called to schedule with Shannon for new highlights & correction of orange hair. Erin who claimed to be a manager & told me no color correction was done past 2 weeks. She expressed Zero concern I left her Salon with hideous orange hair & just told me would not help with orange hair past 2 weeks. I explained I had to have my hair done by New Year & was open to pay new stylist for highlights as long as I didn't leave with hideous orange hair. Erin suggested I come in for consult. I was told during consult she had no openings until Feb. and she had no idea if I would be forced to pay more for correction elsewhere. She again showed zero empathy or even basic concern. On the way out I was told the consult was $50. I was beyond livid since Erin made absolutely no mention I'd be charged $50 to talk to someone about my hideous orange hair problem. I ended up at MDG Salon where the professionalism was refreshing!! A very talented colorist returned my hair to natural ash brown color & suggested I wait for blonde highlights due to possible hair damage. I paid Salon 01 a total of $400 & was forced to pay $285 for an experienced colorist just to get my hair back to natural color. The worst part of this horrific experience was no one at Salon 01 acknowledged leaving their salon with hideous orange hair was even an issue. I've been going to see Laura for haircuts, and Laura and Monica for color, since December 2010. I could not be more pleased. They are fun, friendly, and most importantly, they listen. I've been growing out a relaxer so I can go totally natural (curly) when I want to, and Laura has cut my hair such that it looks great both curly, or blow-dried and flat-ironed. Considering it appears about four inches shorter when curly, this is no small feat on her part. Monica did my first color. It was not as red as she or I had imagined, so she offered to color it again, free. I declined, but she gave me a week to think about it in case I changed my mind. The one star that I am giving Salon 01, is not based on the stylists performance, it's based on the management. I have been a client of Salon 01 for many years, but lately I am extremely disappointed. Every time I go into Salon 01, there are more and more stylists missing from the floor. There's a reason this is happening and I'm pretty sure it's not due to stylists just moving on, just to move on. I'm going to say this all has to do with management/owner issues/policies. This salon is a well known salon, with a lot of community involvement, so stylists shouldn't be just disappearing. I was there a few weeks ago and inquired about a couple long term, top notch stylists not being around anymore. Well, I was right, they're not around, because they left Salon 01 within the last few months. What a shame!!! Good staff does not leave bad jobs. They leave because of bad bosses/poor management, that don't appreciate the hard work and value they offer !!! Update:I found out a friend was with one of the top stylists and found out the stylist was leaving via a phone call from desk, letting her know that her appointments will have to be rescheduled. She said the only available times where months away, leaving her to find another stylist at another salon. So, not only is Salon 01 losing staff, they're also losing long time clients. HORRIBLE!!! I think it's time the management/owner take a good hard look at what they're doing, to force top notch stylist to just give up years of dedicated work and walk out the door!! read more

I booked my appointment here for my wedding on 11/20. I booked it for 11/17 and today, 11/12, I got a call saying my appointment needed to be rescheduled as the stylist had left. With that being said, they put no real effort into trying to squeeze me in or find any time before my wedding making me scramble to find somewhere to get my hair done. I went to Salon 01 to get my makeup done for my engagement pictures that evening. While my makeup artist was very friendly and walked me through the process, I ended up with the absolute worst makeup I have ever had done. The foundation and concealer was too bright for my skin and my face looked paler than my neck. My eyebrows had an orange tinge and were way larger than my normal eyebrows. I had her put on false eyelashes and she had to re-glue one of them several times. After I left the studio, about an hour later my eyelash fell off again. I returned and had them re-do it once again and asked her to apply more bronzer to try to fix the color of my face. This was a mistake. Now my eyebrows and face were both orange. Instead of asking for more correction, I left and went to Sephora where I asked for help to correct my face. During my engagement photos, my eyelashes fell off. read more

As a gift, I was given a gift card. I had been to this salon before and was excited to go to get my hair colored and cut. By the bio, I picked out a master hair stylist as the owner had stated before that they welcome client sharing. I came and called ahead asking if my arriving time was okay. I was told yes and to come. I was SEVEN min behind. My stylist did not know if it was my son or me getting their hair cut. I showed pictures and there was hardly any consultation. She said that she did not know if she could cut my hair and color the same day. She spent over ten minutes discussing her time and unsure about cutting. She seemed frustrated. I was done. I immediately offered to reschedule and come back. I did not like feeling like I was trying to manage her time and it was stressful. She walked me to the front desk. When we went to the desk, she rechecked the time saying she did NOT realize they had scheduled me with plenty of time to do a color and cut. Really?? By that time I was unsure I even wanted to stay. She said she would have someone help blow dry- this was so painful as they both pulled my hair. I don't remember her once asking if I like the color or even showing me the back of my hair. I thought it was okay and heard her compliment it. I walked out of the salon. I saw in the daylight my highlights were orange and it was awful. I came home- to which my nanny said "You have orange hair!" I work in a professional environment and had an important meeting that night. After spending over 300.00 dollars- I came out looking awful. I called the manager and they offered to fix it but no other compensation was offered. They tossed me around to three different people to talk to and not once did the hair stylist address me. If she did not care to check to see what I wanted, why would she fix it right? The communication is lacking. Also, my son got his hair cut by a man name Jo in their "barber" shop, however the man cut his ear a few months ago. My young son was scared others would cut his ear after that incident. No compensation was offered either for that incident - just a comment "oh he didn't last long" with a laugh. The "office manager said "oh you just experienced all the wrong things here" . I came in a couple months ago and asked your receptionists for assistance with the Ambre products. The young lady with short, pink blonde hair helped me, but seemed to be extremely intoxicated. She reeked of alcohol and marijuana, eyes were bloodshot, and was slurring and swaying as she was helping me! I have spent so much money and time at this salon and am shocked by this! You need to hire individuals who can take care of themselves and better represent such a high end salon. It's also shocking to me that no one else noticed or said anything, stylists or management, because her condition was very obvious. This is the worst hair color I have ever received. I went into the salon for highlights and lowlights to blend gray and the stylist explained that I looked too young for blending. I mentioned to her my concerns about brassy hair and highlighting over a base color, as I have been getting my hair done for a very long time and spending a significant amount of money. What I received (balayage-if you could call it that) is terrible. I was not able to see my hair dryuntil I got home from the salon (the Salon's current policy due to COVID is no hair drying or styling). When I finally saw my hair I was shocked. The line of demarcation is horrible. The contrast between my base and bleached hair below was not blended properly, so I look like I have two different hair colors. I called the salon, asked to speak with a manager and they put me on hold, then hung up on me. When I called them back they told me they could get me scheduled for a correction with a higher level stylist and suggested Friday during the day. I explained I already took time out of my very busy workday to come in for my original appointment. They scheduled me for an evening correction with a less experienced stylist then who botched my hair. I cannot believe a salon with the prices and seeming reputation of Salon 01 would be so unprofessional. They want a new talent designer to fix my hair? They did not explain this on the phone at all. I am devastated and cannot believe I went from my prior hair color to what I have now. How could a salon of this caliber employ upper level stylists that don't know how to blend a balayage? I am hopeful that my regular stylist can fix this, but will have to wait 3 weeks and pay for the correction. read more

Came here today for the first time for a bikini wax. The staff was really nice and friendly and showed me around the salon before my appointment. They then led me downstairs for my waxing appointment and I waited in a nice massage chair. Kayla was my esthetician, and was very professional in explaining the waxing. She was nice and chatty so it distracted from the actual procedure. If you pre-book your next appointment, you get points towards future treatments, so I made my next appointment before leaving. I am a regular customer of salon 01 and I don't have enough amazing things to say about it! I feel spoiled from the second I walk in. I went for the first time about a year ago, and I was a complete mess. My hair had seen years of box dye and my eyebrows lost way too many battles to my tweezers. When you walk in, you are always greeted by such a nice reception staff who are always there making your experience so relaxingand seamless! Kayla, my has doctored my eyes brows to PERFECTION. She also colors my them and my lashes so I literally don't have to wear makeup. The eminence products she uses on my skin are amazing too!! Alexis has absolutely conquered my hair and I have the most beautiful blonde melted balayage! It's also so healthy and has such a cute cut. I highly recommend going to salon 01 for any of your needs! My negative review of the salon from the other day was ONLY in regards to my experience with Diana, a nail technician. A representative from the salon called me within two hours after my first review apologizing for my experience and offered to re-do my manicure. When you first walk in you see a salon with an identity crisis. The front desk to check in is in the back after a little knick knack/clothing shopping area. After walking around in a tour you can see small details hadn't been taken care of (ie dusting high areas so I don't have dust coming off of the corners of the wall or off picture frames with the air coming from the air vent into the air that I was breathing, or the water stains notable on the ceiling panels). That being said I still gave the place a chance because I was in between hair stylists. I saw an experienced consultant who gave me a cut and highlights. With curly thick hair I know it can be difficult but the layers and cut overall were horrendous (or as the person from a different salon that fixed my hair said "...oh..."). The layers were not cut evenly, and strands of hair were missed. As in I lifted my hair to look at my layers and curls would have obnoxiously long strands of forgotten hair that would keep on going from where the rest of the curl was cut. The highlight was too bright and didn't look natural. Ends that were obviously dead and needed to be cut off, when I approached the stylist, were "okay" to be there even though those were the ends causing me to break not one but three hairbrushes. Split ends were still all over my head and after talking to the stylist afterwards about my concerns I was told that I was just shocked and to live with it for a couple of days. Shocked I was not. I have done the transformation from long to medium length many time. I was upset about how my hair was not properly cut, my concerns not truly heard, and coming out with my hair more brittle and dry than before and spending hundreds of dollars for something that wasn't completely worth it (and another couple of hundreds of dollars at a different place to fix it because I couldn't live for 3 weeks with the current hair style). For more complex curly hair people I would not recommend coming here. read more

Three weeks ago I made an appointment for today (it was the first available) and unfortunately, I had to call and cancel this morning due to an unexpected work conflict. I received a voicemail response telling me that my appointment was cancelled and also chiding me for not giving a 24 hour notice. As a 56 year old man, the last thing I need is a 20 something admonishing me over this unavoidable incident. Holy pile of suck I have never been so angry with a business. Not only did I, (a guy), pay $55 for a trim and a hair color, I got RED HAIR. Mind you, I am the last appointment on a Thursday night, and the next morning I leave for Michigan to go on business out of town. My appointment starts at 6:15 pm, and I leave around 9 pm due to the stylists inability to make my hair anything but bright red. Don't get me wrong, she was a sweet heart, I tipped her well and everything and I could tell she was trying hard, it was the experience after her that made me fume. My hair was so bad, (same color as a copper penny), that I had to buy a box of brown dye and try to fix it while on my trip in Michigan because it was so embarrassing. The day after I get back, I call the salon and tell them I needed it fixed, as the copper was showing through again. I get a call back from this little jezebel named Jessica who needs a serious lesson in customer service. She explains to me that they will not fix my hair because I used a color box on it while on my business trip. I tell her the only reason I had to do that is because I didn't want to be a ginger freak while on my business trip and I was embarrassed by the color. We debate what she seemed to be "confused" about for the next 10 minutes until she puts me on hold to speak with a manager. She comes back and says they will fix it but in the future they will not fix it if I use a box again; then she says "from a business perspective I'm sure you understand." I said no, I don't and she snapped at me about making an appointment. Well Jessica and Salon01, I am writing here today so you might explain a few "business perspectives" to me on Yelp. From a 'business perspective' how are you not embarrassed that the quality of workmanship coming from your salon is so poor a customer bought an $8 box of hair dye to try to make his hair go back to a more normal color? How, from a business perspective, does sandy blonde translate to copper red for $55? How, does treating a customer who felt humiliated by what you did with his hair like crap translate into your business model? How do you, from a business perspective, leave me unsatisfied with the wrong coloring then force me to adhere to your schedule as to when you fix it rather than making time for me today? And how, from a business perspective, do you justify poor quality workmanship with an even poorer quality customer service woman working your phones justify the absorbent price of $55 for a mens cut and color? AND I couldn't tip my hair stylist on my credit card! I had to use their ATM for an additional $2. This is crap! This place is a joke, Jessica is a joke, the fact that I was as upset as I was when I left and was charged the full amount is a joke, and the fact that I was angry on the phone and a manager didn't even bother picking up the phone to find out why was a joke. THIS IS THE WORST SALON I HAVE EVER BEEN TO. The woman who smells like an ash tray at Great Clips has a better rapport with her customers than this Jessica does! I'm sickened and will never return after they fix my hair tomorrow! As usual, my experience at Salon 01 was amazing! I have been getting my hair cut at Salon 01 for a little over a year and I am finally getting around to writing a review. After growing tired of having my hair butchered at chop shops, I decided to check Salon 01 out when they were running specials for new male clients. Norma cut my hair and she has been doing so ever since. Not only does $25 get you a top notch haircut, it also includes a wash, hot towel, neck trim and you leave with gage (the best) product in your hair. The ladies and gentlemen that work at the salon are all beautiful and pleasant and are always quick to offer a beverage and make my experience as enjoyable as possible. Price is great, atmosphere is fun and the services are the best around. Looking forward to the mens appreciation night they are hosting in May. Recently moved to the area and was looking for a new stylist. I decided on Tessie from Salon 01 in Carmel. Mind you, I've lived in 2 major metropolitan areas (Dallas and DC) so I have high expectations for whoever does my hair. Tessie is as good as they come. She's super laid back, easy to talk to, always gives me a great cut and "gets it" when it comes to highlights (ie, she makes it look au natural!). She's fairly expensive for the area (cut/full highlight approx. $170). But there are other stylists at the salon that are not as expensive. The salon is nice... HUGE... and they have what they call a "New Talent" salon (downstairs) which is basically a beauty school that offers super discounted haircuts, color, etc. Overall, a positive experience and lots of compliments on my hair! read more

Part of the salon experience is how you feel, and I feel good when I walk into Salon 01. The location is great, and the parking is close and easy. I'm not even a salon/spa kind of person, but last year I started getting facials and an occasional pedicure at Salon 01. I have experienced 4 different people there and have been happy with them all. It seems to be well run, and if I have to wait it is a pleasant place to be (great small store in main floor area). It is really nice to have all of these salon options in one place. I have been going to another hairstylist for 25 years, so I haven't tried haircuts at Salon 01 but they seem to be popular and have a lot of options. I have aches and pains and the facial believe it or not helps me with relaxing my whole body and it's a pain-free wonderful hour. I joke with my technician that I'm probably the only person who gets facials to also help their knees. You can get points for using their services that lead to bonus services; I really appreciate it when a business rewards loyalty because it shows that they recognize that customers do have many other options. They have mens' services in the lower level and two different pricing schedules based on whether you use their experienced persons or their newer personnel. And the view onto the Monon trail from the pedicure/manicure chair is very nice! read more

My first time here and it was a great experience! I love the open layout of the place but it also has a lot of stuff so you don't feel exposed in whichever part you're in. Their boutique clothes are also all so adorable and reasonably priced too. We had Kelly do our eyebrows for waxing and she was quick and it was fairly painless.
