I had a haircut from Jen on Friday. My first & last time. Worst haircut ever. I took a picture of how I normally wear it mainly I need layers. I told her don't want cut that short since it was my first time With her she cut so short with no blending that I have areas that the hair sticks out. I can't get it to lay down. My hair is not in layers it's butchered. Should be able to get money back when this happens. It's getting harder to get someone that listens to what you want and does a good job. read more

Time for my regularly scheduled haircut with Bertha. This time I just want a Bobcut. I got tired of layered cut. As always, she was very accommodating and respectful of my time. I have been getting my hair done here for 11 years, and have ALWAYS been very happy with the services! The shop runs very efficiently, it's always clean, and I absolutely love my stylist (Carina). I have been to other stylists in the shop when she has been on vacation, and everyone has been great! I'm aware of a woman who lives behind the shopping center where the business is located who has chosen to attack the shop for some reason, and who is writing false reviews. DON'T believe her! I showed her a picture of what I liked and even though my hair has thinned she gave me the best haircut and style I've had since I've moved to Reno 4 1/2 years ago. Incredible haircut for such reasonable prices. I've tried several salons in midtown Reno, which has nice decor, but I wasn't too happy with my hair after. One day, I called on a short notice, and nobody could accommodate me so I landed upon this hidden jewel of a place! This place is very modest and simple. I didn't expect too much but at the end of the haircut, I knew I found *my* hairdresser! Bertha is incredibly talented, and I was so so happy with the layered style hair she replicated for me (the style I've always had back in California)! I've going to this place for years and they've always been fantastic. As usual it's best when you have a relationship with a specific hairdresser. I always meet with Carina. She is so sweet and always cuts my hair the way I like it. The owner of the place, Rhonda, is also very nice. She's always helpful and full of joy. Salon 2000 is always clean and they usually have little breakfast treats to go with their complimentary coffee. I suggest Salon 2000 if you're planning on being in Sparks/Reno for a while! read more

I brought my 11 year old daughter in for a haircut. She has very thick hair, a lot of it, and it was veryyyy long. Bertha was her stylist, she did an amazing job of listening to exactly what she wanted, educating her on how to take care of her hair, and spent a lot of time with her. We went in with 3 day old hair forgetting she had an appt, I was told they always wash and condition with haircuts, that's awesome! She dried and styled her hair afterwards and it was perfect. We will be back to see Bertha for sure! The only tinyyy thing that I didn't like is I was quoted a price over the phone of $20 for a kids haircut and it was $35 but I didn't say anything and I'm sure maybe it was the styling that added to the price? Or the fact that my daughter at 11 has 5x times as much hair as I do? I don't know, but I'd gladly pay more for the amazing job Bertha did, I just like to know ahead of time what I am expecting. Overall I can't wait to go back and get my hair done, Bertha also gave us a very reasonable quote for some future stuff she wants done and was through about the process and what our expectations should be. read more

Called the place to inquire about getting a haircut. Bertha was nice to accommodate me in such a short notice. I had a very long hair and planned to donate and they offered to send it for me to Locks of Love ‍. The service was great and professional. Bertha discuss what hairstyle I wanted after taking the locks to be donated, got my hair shampooed and conditioned before the haircut. She then cut and styled it and made sure I like the job. I had never heard of Salon 2000 before Carina became a friend of mine personally. I had been going to another hair salon forever, but after one bad dye job, I ran to my friend to help. She was booked solid that day and still took me in between clients. My normally blondish brown hair had been turned golden orange. I don't know what happened with my former hair dresser but she had a bad day and then refused to fix it. I've been going to Carina ever since. She is just flat out amazing - she will fix anything, she can cut whatever style you're looking for and she is great with color. Not to mention, she's a sweetheart as well and becomes friends with just about anyone she meets. Ermahgawd! I love this place and my stylist, Rhonda was AWESOME! The salon itself is open and airy, and not all squished together, which is why I didn't go back to Mural. It was too claustrophobic for me. Salon 2000 and all of its stylists basically had 5 Stars across the board. Rhonda was great. I came with pictures on my phone of what I had in mind. A shoulder length, slightly layered A line lob which would take advantage of my naturally wavy hair. I took about 4 to 6 inches off. We talked hair and makeup while Rhonda cut my hair and she was surprised and appreciative about my amateur knowledge of haircare and what not. Too bad I don't have the patience for my hair like I do my makeup! Anywho, she was friendly, knowledgeable, gracious, funny, sweet, and my hair looks great! I highly recommend her, or anyone there. The energy inside Salon 2000 was very light. I like that. And it's right by my house. I will return to Rhonda as soon as I need a trim or wanna do something else. It was $35 for a wash, cut, and style, and she was awesome enough to give me a sample bottle of a sea salt spray. SWEET! read more

It really kills me to give this place anything less than 5 stars, because everyone here was just SO dang nice!!!! Especially my stylist, she was so nice and wonderful! I came in for just a style today. There's a couple reasons I took away 2 stars. I showed a picture of what kind of style I was wanting, and what I wound up with looked absolutely nothing like the photo...I wanted really soft bouncy curls and I wound up with my hair feeling hard, and crunchy, and almost stringy curls. Which I understand some people like, it just wasn't what I wanted. She sprayed my hair with SO much product, at the end of the day, coming home, my hair has been an absolute nightmare. It's SO dry and completely feels dead. It took forever to brush it out (painfully). And even now, after I've brushed it and tried to dampen it, it's still continuing to tangle because of how much product was used. One thing though that I feel most upset about was the miscommunications. The first time I called, the lady told me to call back and see if anyone came in who would be available to take me at the time I needed. But she quoted me $25 for a wash/dry & style. I called back later to schedule the appointment, and spoke to a different woman, who asked how long my hair was. I told her "it's down to my tail bone." She quoted me $35, and told me it'd be an hour. I show up to my appt, and my stylist says we can't wash my hair because that'd take 2+ hours total (and I was in a hurry because we were taking photos). So I was upset because I would have washed my hair the night before, instead of coming in with greasy hair... I get ready to pay, and was charged $50! Double the original quote! For a hairstyle that I didn't feel beautiful in. And I didn't even get it washed. It again is hard to say these things because as I said, everyone was just SO extremely kind to me! That's really the only reason I even gave a tip. And didn't argue on the price :( but now as I sit here with my damaged hair, I'm wishing I'd said something while I was there :/ read more

Just happened upon this place thanks to Yelp, and every part of the experience was great. Rhonda was so super sweet and explained what she was doing to my hair every step of the way. She listened to me, gave suggestions, and followed through. She was friendly and personable, and I felt welcome from the moment I walked in. Salons always make me nervous because I don't know how I'll be treated or how my hair will turn out, but I loved Rhonda's professionalism and great demeanor. I actually look forward to going back! Carina is fantastic. She has been cutting my hair for a while. I really like her. She is the only person who can cut my autistic son's hair. It has taken three years for him to finally allow her to do as she wishes. The staff here has been so patient with his needs. It was awful when we first started coming. He would flip out but they were always so supportive. I REALLY appreciate their patience and understanding and highly recommend them (especially Carina) to anyone. read more
