Happen to get an appointment with Zak Williams on his first day at Maza. The facility is very clean, receptionist is friendly. Loved the atmosphere. Zak is so welcoming and very easy to relax with during a major hairstyle change with highlights. I totally trusted him, showed him a picture for an idea and then said do what you think is good. He is a master colorist and hairstylist. I felt so comfortable (hard for this 75 year old). By the time he was done. I felt like a new person and 15 years younger. I have received so many wonderful compliments. I can hardly wait to return to listen to his Tennessee charm and his humor. I was lucky to find him. read more

Pros: The services I've received at this salon were all good. All of the staff members have been cheerful and friendly. I have a positive impression of everybody's professional skills. Cons: This salon is very noisy. Everybody has to talk loudly in order to be heard, so the noise level only increases. This is not relaxing at all! read more

For hair, absolutely love Megan. The staff is super friendly and I'm in and out of there very satisfied without it taking half my afternoon. For the pedi services, absolutely love the nail techs, but their pedi area and pedi chair are really a 1-Star. It is NOT the tech's faults. I can't even feel the massage in the chair, and the area is cramped. If they vamped up this part of the salon services, it would be amazing. As it is, I am sadly going to have to find a new pedi salon. (Mani area is fine.) read more

Made a call to Ashley, and she had a cancellation and fit me in the next day! I saw so many pictures of her work that when I was ready, of course it was her I called! I'm definitely a newbie when it comes to haircoloring, and I explained what I was hoping for, and she got it right away. There wasn't a bit of hesitation when she went back to mix color, and she is METICULOUS when it comes to painting hair :) I got a mix of high and low lights all over, as well as just brightening up the overall color of my hair AND tinted my eyebrows, and covered my grays! Be carful when making Appointments here . Receptionist reluctantly does not get back with you. I made pending appointment with Ashley for over a week . I had to reach out personally to tell her I have a appt with her at the last moment she states her case that I cancelled at the last moment over a year ago ! And why did I canceled? I caught a Virus not knowing The covid ! I offer to pay her for that appointment, ashley stated I usually have it paid A head of the appointment. This is my go to every month. Love the atmosphere... it's a beautiful place without being pretentious. Priscilla is my stylist and she's amazing as a person and with hair. I've recommended MaZa to multiple friends and will continue to do so. Regarding any negative reviews I'm not sure why. Maybe it was a one off bad experience. She knew what I wanted agreed to it , never mentioned anything about a multiple step process , turned my hair Orange then made me leave bc she was expecting another client she promised she would fix my hair on Monday (this was Friday) so I paid with the promise she'd fix it . Saturday I message her to arrange a time on Monday , she tells me she'll still fix it but that she is gonna charge me. WHAT ? I went to Sinamon, the owner of the salon asking for bright orange hair. I saved up for months to get this done and wanted to go lighter for the summer. I texted her the photo of what my hair currently was and what I wanted and went in. I should have seen the red flag when she said "you know orange is the color hairstylists try to avoid". She did a bleach wash on my hair to remove the color but it didn't do much lifting. Instead of bleaching it to get it lighter (my hair has only been bleached once before for highlights) she just said we can add the orange and see if it takes so she did the dye and my roots were DARK red and the rest of my hair was almost the exact color as it was when I walked in, just a little more orange than pink. $200 wasted and I literally cried because I saved for months to be able to go and get light hair, just to leave with exactly what I came in with but darker red. She said I looked disappointed and I said yes, I wanted light hair not dark and I was just too shy and polite to not get mad and burst into tears. I still paid and tipped and left feeling sad. I texted Sinamon to see if we could lighten it more and see why we did darker and she said she could do a strand test but at that point I did not trust her with my hair at all and didn't want to waste more time going to her. I did not receive a refund. I went to a friend from highschool a week later to have her fix it and she actually did what I asked for with a color remover, and bleach and what do you know? The darker color lifted and I got the result I wanted before she did a color I didn't ask for. Very disappointed in Maza and really heartbroken at a loss of money and having to have another person fix it. I will not be going back here and I will not recommend to anyone. read more

This place is really cute! I liked the atmosphere of the salon. I made an appointment with Megan to cut my hair. I'm VERY indecisive and have been trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my hair. Even in the chair I was like, "um, maybe short? But I'm a little nervous... but I definitely want to take some length off." She gave me me some ideas and then went to work after I decided what I was comfortable with. She did an awesome job and I've gotten some compliments on my hair already! I would recommend this salon and Megan. Super sweet and funny, as well as does a great job. It's my first time to try a lighter hair color here in this salon since my whole life it's always black-dark brown. When my friend and I got there, the atmosphere was cozy and everybody is smiling and friendly. Alicia took care of me and she's very nice, comfortable to have a conversation with and very professional at the same time. She makes sure I'm aware of what she's going to do to my hair from bleaching up to coloring and toning. From auburn/medium brown hair, she transformed it into a healthy, beautiful ash brown hair. I'm really glad of the outcome, IT'S EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED! Ask for Alicia if ever you have plans to go their salon. She will never let you go home disappointed! As for the price, it was really worth it since my hair is long (all the way down to my waist) so I was expecting I'll end up paying $300-$400. Turns out I paid less than my budget! read more

Yep, that's right...I'm a guy and I go here to my haircut. Been going here for years now and have never been disappointed. Relaxing environment with friendly staff. In particular I see Calli every time. She's fantastic, relaxed and professional. She listens to what you want, offers suggestions when appropriate, and gets you done in time. She's courteous and acknowledges you when you arrive, and if by chance there is a slight delay she lets you know...but it's never more then 5-10 minutes which is expected in this environment. Please read my review... I am new to Reno and was looking for an upscale promising hair salon. I have really long thick beautiful hair and always get nervous when trying a new hair artist. In this particular case I called the salon and asked to book an appointment, so as all salons do they set me up with an artist. Beautiful salon loved it as soon as I walked in. I met my artist and explained what I wanted, the darkest brown seeing how my sisters wedding was the next week. As we were discussing colors I really leaned towards a purple color I asked my sister if she would be OK with that for the wedding, so she replied with yes. Me and my artist were super excited and ready to explore this new color. With that being said she had to biologe my hair which includes bleaching so we knew it would be a long process. I wasn't expecting 11 hours. My appointment started at 9 AM and ran until 4 PM making me late to work by 30 minutes. At that point all the hair that had been bleached had turned red she proceeded to style it to see the color and I expressed how much I did not like it. And I had to come back once I got off work at 8:30 PM arriving to the salon around 9 PM. Expecting that my hair would then be the purpleish color that I had expressed in the beginning that I wanted. The stylist was really nice brought tacos for dinner and a bottle of wine. I'm a very free open spirit so I didn't mind the gesture. As 1 AM rolled around 300$ later my hair was pure BLACK. You couldn't see anything we had done in the 11 hours only blackness. I went to tip the stylist even though I was unhappy and only had $100 bill. I expressed Ineeded change but she said she wasn't able to get in the drawer so then I said I would buy product and she was again not able to get in the drawer so I didn't want to cut her short even though I was upset so I promised that that would be part of her tip for the next time I saw her, knowing I was going to ask her to fix my hair. I had to keep the haircolor for two weeks due to my sister's wedding being the week after and me not being able to find time to get my hair done again! Once I had time I nicely contacted the artist and expressed how upset I was about my hair but I didn't have a choice but to keep it due to the wedding that now I had time to possibly come in and get it fixed. It took her over a week to get back to me to set up a time. Once we decided we were going to fix my hair I sent her new photos that were more clear of what I wanted , Which was slightly different than the original picture because I was trying to come up with something to blend in with the black and also get the purple I asked for or even more vibrant since the wedding was over. she declined to fixing my hair. Said she would have to charge me approximately $250 to fix it. I got extremely upset because I don't think that's fair I even offered to pay her for Her time or the product even though I didn't think that was fair either. I was hesitant to ask her to fix my hair because I wasn't confident that I would receive what I wanted but I tried to give it a shot because I really liked the artist. When she declined and said she would charge me I contacted the salon three times to get in touch with the owner. NEVER RECEIVING A CALL BACK. Instead I got a text message from the stylist repeating what she had told me the last time we spoke. I have never seen a problem handled so poorly. It even took me some time to write this review because I know what it's like to have a negative reviews on your business, but I want people to know what I experienced because I know how much it can affect somebody when their stylist ruins their hair. I can't get my hair done for some time to keep the integrity, and if you don't know black is the hardest color to come out of. So as unfortunate that it is that I have to write this review it's worth it to make sure it doesn't happen to somebody else. Wish I had a great experience. And if you choose this salon I hope you have a world of a difference than I did. read more

Oh My Goodness! This is the most cutest salon and it is so welcoming. You definitely get the wow factor when you come visit but none of the stuck up feeling from the stylist. They are the cutest little bunch of people and I have never had a bad experience. I was paired with Lindsey Hinckley and all I can say is that I couldn't have been luckier. From the moment I was greeted by her, I had the most enjoyable experience than I've ever had at a salon. She really took what I was looking for into consideration and used to expertise to execute just that. I just went in for a haircut and came from out of town but used to go to this salon in 2010 and earlier. Suede (new to me) did an AMAZING job. He captured exactly what I wanted and my preferences via a brief conversation and gave me an excellent NATURAL hair cut. I have had many cuts from many top salons (Sonoma County, Dallas, Boston, Santiago, DC) and his was definitely one of the BEST. It was so good that my sister scheduled an appointment with him the next morning. The price was also incredibly reasonable though I do not know what is standard for Reno but thought $35 was very fair and far lower than what I pay at my local salon out of state. read more
