Yana worked on my hair one time. She was so sweet & funny, unfortunately I wasn't satisfied with the result of my hair. I came in asking for some balayage and she said she specialized in this area. Heidi is truly Amazing! I came to her after a disastrous highlight from a different stylist that left me with an Orange ombre. I was seriously scared to go to anyone but I read all the great Yelp reviews and made an appointment with her. She listened to me and totally delivered on everything I wanted! She gave me the best haircut I've had in years, fixed my color and have me the perfect subtle highlights ( no more orange! ) my hair is really dark and does not lighten easily, but she lightened it without any bleach or damage to my hair. Adrianna is a master at making my unruly hair look like I just walked out of the salon everyday!! I've followed her from Marin to the East Bay because she is that good. Yana has been cutting my hair and my daughter's hair for almost a year now. I moved to the city of Hercules not knowing much about where to go for certain things. I looked on yelp and decided to give Salon 2138 a try. Yana returned my phone call that same day, and she was able to fit me in to her busy schedule without a problem. Now when I need to see her, I can send her a text giving her a date and time range of what works for my schedule and she is able to accommodate that at least 95% of the time. For example, my 13 yo daughter was hell-bent on cutting her long hair to a short A-line bob. I immediately sent a text to Yana and she was able to fit me in that day. My daughter was able to find a photo of the hair cut that she wanted. Before Yana started to cut, she walked my daughter through what it meant to have short hair and how styling her hair would change her morning routine. Once my daughter understood the circumstances, Yana began the cut. It turned out amazing. There's no one else I would trust with my daughter's hair. My daughter walked out of her salon happy and with an understanding of how to care for her hair. Yana is more than just a stylist to me. In such a short time she has taught me how to better care for my hair. She has also taught me how to style my hair which is 90% of my struggle. Although I appreciate the extended hours as a mom trying to juggle a million things, the cut I received was terrible. I told her that I didn't want layers and she went ahead and cut layers because that's what she thought my hair needed. Plus the abrasive attitude... no thanks. Will not be returning. read more

Needed to get a haircut on a Sunday and with many salons closed on Sunday's, I was super lucky when I found this salon. I looked at their awesome reviews, services and where it was located and I was already sold. The fact that you text the stylist to ask for an appointment and 9/10 get the appointment you ask for is HUGE for me. I was texted back immediately by Adriana. My appointment was at 1PM and I was looking fly no later than 2PM. The salon was easy to find, there was plenty of parking and the salon was so cute! It was very modern, cozy and clean - loved the high ceilings. Adriana was so friendly, greeted me and immediately asked for what I was looking for. Upon telling her, she made some of her own professional suggestions which I was totally open to trying. She shampooed & conditioned my hair, cut it, and blowed dried it with style. My short hair had not been properly cut in several months and had longish layers that could/should have been styled into a really sharp looking do, Heidi assured me that she was a highly trained stylist who did not "need to look at pictures", that her numerous positive YELP reviews spoke for themselves and that I would get a terrific cut. I told her specifically what I DID NOT WANT . . . which she then proceeded to do and I ended up with a very unattractive, choppy, masculine looking mess of a cut. Disappointment is an understatement and when your hair is short there's not much to do. It's been a week and a half and I was hopeful something miraculous would make me love it, but simply put; it's a bad cut. I went to Heidi Murphy for the first time about a month ago. She truly did an amazing job on my hair! I am Filipina and normally have black/brown hair but have been dyeing it blonde for 15 years. My last color and highlight before Heidi was too dark and had an orange hue to it. I was desperate to get really blonde again and wanted to find a new hairstylist that could do this. Heidi did not disappoint! She got me completely blonde with gorgeous highlights. I already know she is going to be my hairstylist for a LONG time.
