I've been postponing this for almost two years now, but I'm finally getting around to writing my review for Lisa! First off, I just wanted to say that it was very easy to communicate with her. I was able to text her what I wanted-to dye my hair. Although my hair was bleached and created patchy areas for her to work with, Lisa managed to help my hair look super nice! While working on my hair, she was very communicative. She told me what was possible for my hair because I originally asked for a lighter color, but that wouldn't have worked since my hair was darker then. Not only that, but she worked with my already damaged hair and made sure not to damage it even more! Throughout the process, she talked to me about what she was going to do and had a conversation with me. At other places, the hair dressers are often quiet so this was a pleasant change for me. What a local gem! This is honestly one of the best color/cut services I have had in years. My brown hair is medium long with layers and some subtle highlights. I decided to give this hair studio a chance since I was dying to find a good place near to me. Lisa was awesome! I went in to get a clean-up (few inches cut off), to get some color to cover up some grays near my hairline, and to get some blondish highlights to give my hair some depth, especially for the wavy hairlocks that frame my face. Lisa listened to everything I asked for and delivered. If I wasn't so shy, I'd post a selfie. You'll just have to take the word of this happy customer. She is very easy to talk to and fun to chat with. Getting to the salon was easy and parking is a few feet from the front door. Let's just say my best friend and I found ourselves THEE hairdresser! I never review anything, but this place really deserves 5 stars and a review for Lisa's QUALITY (not to mention super-affordable: $15) haircuts! Although this place was located in a somewhat deserted area, the inside of the salon is very clean & cute. It's hard to find someone you trust with your hair, especially for us ladies. Lisa not only has an amazing down-to-earth and fun personality, but she really listens to and understands exactly what you want, and doesn't go crazy with your hair (unless you want her to, I guess)! I wanted to keep my long waist-length hair but add more layers and volume, and she did exactly that (and she even curled my whole head to show me how my hair would look with beach waves). My best friend, who had shoulder-length hair LOVED her haircut too. Lisa really spent the time to texturize and layer her hair, and it came out super cute! She really works with what you want. She finished up with another customer before my appointment time started. She shampoo washed my hair first, than asked me what I wanted. It's 11:56pm and I suddenly realized that I have yet to write a review for Lisa despite going to her exclusively for YEARS. Obviously, I needed to remedy that immediately, so here I am. I'll keep this relatively short because when it comes down to it, you don't really need to know anything more than the fact that Lisa excels at what she does and does so with an effortlessly upbeat and amiable personality. Honestly, I've gone to her since my early college days and naturally, she has seen me through my many different phases (I even spontaneously tried curtain bangs for the first time during today's appointment despite knowing that I have a wedding to go to in a couple weeks and now isn't a great time to experiment), which is a testament to how much I trust her to work her magic and make the latest trend that has piqued my interest into a reality. Despite often choosing a style on a whim or going into the haircut based on her suggestions alone, I've never left an appointment feeling short of ecstatic and oh so grateful that I have my go-to for all things hair-related. Furthermore, it amazes me that she is able to time all of her appointments so perfectly, unfailingly providing me with my dream haircut in less than 30 minutes at such an affordable price. TLDR; if you want to trust your hair with someone who knows what she's doing, keeps all of your concerns and ideas in mind, and treats you like a valued client at a steal of a price, look no further than Lisa. I am giving this place the two stars simply for one fact. I called today to inquire about getting a haircut because of the rave reviews I see here on yelp. The pictures of the clients cuts and dye jobs look amazing and I was in dire need of a great hairstylist that I currently do not have. I called today and spoke with Lisa. She didn't come across too friendly on the phone at all. I asked if I was able to come in for a cut, sure it was last minute but still. I told her I found her on Yelp and how I noticed the great reviews. She didn't even acknowledge what I said. All she told me was that she's booked for the next two weeks. There was no effort to ask what type of cut I was looking for and if I was interested in booking something within the next two weeks; or no notion of her attempting to "check" and see if she can squeeze me in. Plain rude and standoffish. I guess she has too many clients and didn't want to take me on........ I can tell by the pictures of the clients here that she does an amazing job but she needs to be friendly on the phone. I will not be calling back to schedule anything there for the experience I had on the phone with her. It left a bad taste in my mouth. Too bad given the fact that I am an excellent tipper. read more

I told Lisa I'd wait a few days before I review... but I just can't! :) I went to Lisa to get a blonde ombre effect done to my hair. I've never ever done any drastic dyeing to my hair before. The moment I walked into the door to the moment I left, Lisa was amazingly accommodating and friendly. We discussed a few details of the process and she immediately got started. This process took more than an hour, but it certainly didn't feel that way. She's so easy to talk to and I found myself having a few good laughs. :) She's also super understanding about any concerns and will even warn you about concerns you may have, which just dissolved all worry I had in general. She knows her stuff. Just trust her. And of course, my hair looks great! I love it. Love love love. And before, I swore never to go blonde or any variation of the sort. Made me wait for almost 30-45 minutes and did a crappy job in trimming my bangs. Lisa did a really good job in trimming my bangs and hair. She explained how she was going to trim my hair, gave options and suggested the best option for my hair type since it's fine. I came in to Lisa's Hair Salon looking for a dramatic change. Prior to our appt., I sent her a pic of the cut I was wanting. She was agreeable and we both decided to go with it. I also explained to her that my hair has a hard time grabbing color and highlighting so she planned our appointment allowing for extra time to accomidate this. I've told many hair stylists this in the past have been sorely disappointed when the color does not hold after that first wash in the salon bowl or the highlights are barely noticeable. But Lisa was different. She really listened to my "hair issues" and adjusted the products accordingly. It's been nearly 2 weeks and I can't express how much I LOVE the color!!! This is definitely one of the best styles I've EVER had! I only wished she could be my regular hairstylist but unfortunately, I just happened to visit her salon on a visit back to CA. I would absolutely recommend her to everyone! Her prices are very reasonable and her location is ideally located just off a main road in Pinole. And her salon is adorable and inviting. OMG! I LOVE Lisa. This is my second review and I am happy to see she is getting business. That's what happens when you are great at what you do and that's exactly what she is! I live in LA and going to Pinole is worth the trip - I always look forward to getting my hair done by her. I was on yelp trying to find a good hair salon. I have only gone to Oakland but it's a trip to get there, other than Oakland, I would only get my hair trimmed when I am in Montreal, Quebec because I found a place there that I loved but they always cut more than I want them to! I have very thin hair so I wanted layers then I found Lisa's which is like 10 minutes from my house! I made an appointment for my sister then Lisa had a cancellation so I went in. She really listened and only cut as much as I agreed to because she understood how important the length was to me which is why I've been avoiding my long over due haircut because I loved my long hair. Because my hair was pretty dead at the ends, I had to take some off but it is still a good length and the layers made my hair look fuller too! I was out of there in 30 minutes ! My sister absolutely loved hers! She usually get hers layered by my mom but now I don't think my mom needs to do it for her anymore. She went a little shorter than I thought she would but she loves it so whatever makes her happy. Lisa is also very friendly and nice and in no rush but does a great job! Also, the price is great! Lisa is the bomb-diggity!!! I went to her after deciding I'd had enough of dealing with sub-par hair care at another local salon less than a mile away from her. She listens to what you want, her hair skills/techniques are current, and she is super friendly. In terms of color she is also just as fabulous!!! I sent my mom there after seeing pictures of some of her color clients. The woman my mother was getting her hair colored by was awful!! At times she would come home with fire red or purple hair (she wanted dark brunette). I have finally found my forever Hair Stylist! If you're looking for a stylist that won't give you false expectations, then Lisa is your lady! She isn't gonna tell you that you will leave her salon looking exactly like the picture you brought in. She will let you know that it may take multiple sessions to get what you truly want. I texted Lisa to make sure that she was accepting new clients since some reviews stated that she was not. Luckily, she was! After not having much success with finding a nice, cheap place to get a men's haircut, I decided to go to Lisa's Hair Studio based off of a friend's recommendation. Boy was I glad I did. Lisa was very friendly and her studio is nicely renovated on the inside. She did a great job with a high fade on the sides and blending it in with the top. Not only that, but her prices are some of the best in the Bay Area. For any guys looking for a nice haircut without spending an arm and a leg, I'd highly recommend dropping the chains (Sports Clips, Great Clips, etc.) and switching over to Lisa. read more

I found her through Yelp, and when I saw how many good reviews she had, I thought it was too good to be true, but I scheduled an appointment because my normal hair dresser is crazy expensive. I went in for a cut and a color change and it went great. Her prices are reasonable, she's got a fantastic personality, and really knows her stuff. She was honest with me about what cut would work and what colors worked (my hair is dark brown) with my natural hair color (as in, which ones would show) without having to bleach it. I also made an appointment for my mom and she rocked my mom's haircut and did an awesome job with the color too. My brother also went and YES, she cut his hair just the way we wanted it. I started seeing Lisa in 2012. I thought she was great and her prices were very reasonable. I always tipped well, at least 40% - sometimes more. I was understanding that I typically had to wait at least two weeks for an appointment, sometimes longer. I was OK with that. What got me after a couple years of using her services was the fact that I had to call 2 - 3 times to get her to return my call to schedule an appointment. It seemed to me she took advantage of the fact that she is good at what she does and seemed to have more clients that she could managed. I decided after two years of playing "chase Lisa" I needed to take my business to someone who wanted it. I am not at all surprised by the reviews here.
