Let's start at the top - make an appointment with Ana. I give Ana 5-stars but because of the bad cuts I've gotten from another stylist here, I brought the review down to 4. I've been going to Salon 6 for a couple of years now with Tatiana as my stylist. At the beginning all my cuts were great but starting around a year ago a good cut was hit-or-miss and the misses were profoundly bad. I went back once asking her to correct the cut because it was uneven. She said it wasn't. I proved it and she cut some off. I left with it still uneven. Because I had good memories of past cuts I stuck with Tatiana despite her increasingly poor and uncaring attitude. This last cut was the last straw. I asked for an A-line bob and came out with a straight (but uneven) bob in front, a Moe Howard cut on the back of my head, and the last third of the back of my head was chopped to beat the band. Not able to live like this I made an appointment with ANYONE ELSE at Salon 6. Thank God I got Ana. She and another stylist were appalled at the cut and very straight forward about what could be done with hair this short. Ana was so, so good at fixing this cut that I was nearly in tears. I walked out with my head held up and not self-conscious about my hair for the first time in months. MONTHS. Ask for Ana and refuse Tatiana. read more

I'm just beginning to venture out as Illinois opens up. My first and foremost consideration of any business is cleanliness. Salon 6 has checked all the boxes! Customer chairs are safeguarded by hanging plastic sheets. EVERYTHING that is used for a customer is disinfected immediately after use. Masks are worn by all employees and customers. This doesn't surprise me, as I have been going there for years and the shop is always clean with friendly employees. They have given careful attention to keeping their customers safe and I go there with complete confidence! I long contemplated whether to post this because I am all about supporting the small businesses but I feel that the customers deserve some honesty. I visited them for a haircut mislead by the great reviews after all. What can I say, if you enjoy being sprayed hair products in the eyes, having your hair pulled, and leave with overpriced and butchered haircut, Tatiana is your gal. The only way she could've gotten all these good reviews is by having her relatives write them. She rushed through the haircut with initial 10in cut, then performed some questionable layers and dried it. I asked her to fix it because one side was visibly longer than the other, and she did try. After that I no longer wanted anything fixed by her. Well, I had a straightening appointment the next day and the stylist had to keep cutting some imperfect ends. As for the layers, they are only slightly visible at the sides and there is nothing on the back. Further, I believe it is very inappropriate for business owners to shove a screen with tip options in front of you when paying. Tips are meant for people on wages, as an appreciation for good service, not for the owner. The only reason I don't give 1 star is because the rest of the girls there might be good. read more

I have never posted bad reviews on any business. I have a hair dresser who I consistently seen for 8 yrs and then we moved. ...I saw Salon 6 and read the reviews and decided to try it out. I am keeping this short don't go to Tatiana she is unprofessional(constantly looking at her IPad while cutting my hair!), expensive, substandard hair cutting, constantly selling something. Getting a haircut should make you feel good. I felt terrible and didn't understand what she did for $70! I don't know how the other hairdressers are but she has lost my business. read more

Been there a couple of times and family has been there as well. Work by Titiana is just fair as she is not consistent and pushes products heavily. Also be aware of her tipping process to try to get the largest tip possible. She would tell you she doesn't however she pushes the bill quickly and someone not experienced in this fashion can easily tip 30 to even 40% by accident. When you question her she doesn't like it and talks behind your back when you voice your concerns about her process. She is not afraid to voice her opinion to my family when we are just trying to not have to tip that much. It may be clearer to more experienced people, but it wasn't the case for us. Her actions are Not appropriate in our book as we are the people that keep her in business! read more

I had been researching hair salons in my local area hoping to find one with a stylist who wasn't afraid of female pattern baldness. Because of my issue I think it had been over 2 years since my last haircut and I had even cut my hair at home at least twice. I was looking at Yelp again last night and all of a sudden this salon popped up. I made a phone call at 5:30pm and spoke with Nadine who was super nice and after explaining my situation she said that I should see Tatiana and she was available at 6pm. I took that appointment and am so glad I did! I felt so welcome when I first walked in. Nadine is so sweet, her salon is decorated very stylishly and it is very clean. Tatiana came out to introduce herself not just to me but my husband as well. Immediately, she felt like a friend. She assessed my hair first, making suggestions and listening to what I had to say. I even shared a picture, of one of HER clients, of what I'd like in a hair cut. An hour later I had a new cut that had movement and style. And to my surprise she was able to cut and style it so that I can hide the bald areas I have. I was stunned and so, so happy! I hadn't seen my hair like that in years and it was awesome not to see my scalp shining back at me. Tatiana knows hair, how to cut it and style it. I can't wait to try color with her in the future. I never let anyone tough my hair except for Deanie. EVER! She has an eye for color and a knack for keeping up with the current hairstyles. The atmosphere in the salon is always pleasant.
