I'm still trying to wrap my head around my entire experience here, but I felt like I was being scammed the entire time. Even reading these reviews again they feel unauthentic. It started with her handing me a cheap silk robe and asking me to take off my clothes under it. I was very confused because I had a tight tank top on that in no way would interfere with my hair cut. My haircut and blowdry, mind you she did not wash it due to time constraints, was over an hour long. And she kept cutting it for the sake of cutting it. I said 1-1.5 inches off the bottom and I left with about 5 inches off. She also kept showing off her skills while my hair was wet, which is clearly not when a client wants to be looking in the mirror like a wet dog in the middle of a hair cut. Daniela herself felt ingenuine. I'm even more confused after seeing contradicting photos/names on venmo and yelp to the Daniela I met in person. The haircut ended with her having me stage a video of myself showing off my hair on HER phone, basically from the perspective of a client yet I was forcefully handed her phone and instructed to candidly laugh and not look at the camera. I have no idea where she will be using that video but I am very uncomfortable that I did that. read more

Unlike others, I had a truly negative experience from beginning to end with Daniela in terms of her demeanor. It has been months but I realize it still bothers me, hence this review. The quality of my haircut was on par with other quality hair stylists in the city, though I wasn't able to stick around for the extra finishing to my blowout because it had already run nearly two hours and I had a newborn (my first child, born a little over a week before my appt) to care for waiting for me. My usual stylist has limited availability and works in the marina. There was no way with a new baby that I could carve out time to see her, so I took a chance on Daniela. We texted the evening before and I sent her a $50 non refundable deposit to secure the appt for the next morning. The morning of the appt, I walked in literally no more than 7 minutes late - all while communicating to her my arrival time over text - partly because of said newborn and because it was my first time and I missed the front door the first drive around the block. I also work in a profession that runs on appts, so I understand how frustrating it is when clients aren't punctual, but there is still some grace. When I walked in I apologized profusely and blamed the 10 day old baby, my first, who I am still amazed I stole time away from to make it to this appt. Instead of accepting my apologies and welcoming me, Daniela literally looked me up and down and gave me so much hurtful attitude for the first quarter of my appt, and even went so far as to look at my body and ask me if I was still pregnant. I was shocked and told her no, as I had just told her about my giving birth a little over a week ago, to which she just casually waved off by saying that she didn't know, because she's never had kids. From there on she spent a long time discussing and executing what was really a simple trim to my long hair which made me anxious given the limited time I had with her. I also felt like I had to win her over the whole time, and she obnoxiously kept commenting to herself about my excellent manners and basically talking herself into changing her preconceived attitude about me. By the end of it she was singing my praises and telling me repeatedly that she would be excited to have me back, etc. In those vulnerable first days after giving birth, I needed to be cared for, which I think most moms can relate to. And I think in general most folks go into a salon looking for a polite conversation and to feel pampered. Instead Daniela cost a pretty penny for an average cut and style that took a very long time to make me feel anxious and badly about myself. I would never recommend her to anyone or patron her business again. read more

Usually you'll be the only client in the salon at a time or once in a while there will be another client there for a short while. After years of searching, I finally found a great men's hairstylist in San Francisco. Having grown up in Europe, when I moved to the Bay Area I was disappointed by the experience I had having my hair cut. Usually the process was rushed and invariably the "stylist" either didn't listen or wasn't capable of giving me the type of cut that I wanted. Daniela is simply a GENIUS with hair. She is both an artist and a scientist with hair. She was very upfront about the whole correction process and had a scientific approach to how she was going to try to fix it (first starting by testing pieces of my hair to see how it would react to the new color); Daniela could have simply dyed my hair dark all over and called it a day, but instead she chose to actually FIX my hair and give me the results I was trying to get before the other salon destroyed my hair. She spent 4+ hours toning my hair and then meticulously and artistically placing the most perfect lowlights to correct the color. The results were gorgeous and nearly brought me to tears--she gave me the beautiful honey color I was trying to achieve. I cannot stress enough how much skill she has. She is the best hair stylist I have ever been to. I don't live in the Bay Area anymore, but I plan to travel to have Daniela do my hair--I don't trust anyone else with it! To sum it up: Daniela is super gifted with hair, goes the extra mile for her clients, and puts so much love and care into each appointment. She is beyond superb. When I met Daniela 3 months ago my hair was a mess! It was black and stripy from layers of boxed dye over the pandemic. Long but worth the read xo. My experience with Daniela was infused with love and care from the start. Wanting to go from dark brown to blonde, I walked into her shop from the street to inquire. Daniela eagerly gave me step by step details about the process involved. She even mixed up a small batch of product that we'd be using to place a test spot on my arm to ensure no allergies. We exchanged info and I made an appointment for the following Wednesday and was told to put 4-5 hours aside to do it right. Slightly embarrassing to report but in a rather impulsive, self destructive path, I went ahead that night and bleached my own damn hair using the best of what CVS can offer (insert: mortified face) A myriad of Canary yellow now encircled my face. The following morning Daniela texted me to follow up from our consultation the evening before. I was embarrassed to tell her what I had done, but.. I did it, so I told her and sent her photos. Despite me completely going against her advice and wasting her time, Daniela took the time to explain what needed to be done to correct the hair crisis I was in. I lived for nearly a week with my tail between my legs patiently waiting for my hair appointment which was now a "rescue" hair appointment. I want to share that historically I don't spend a lot of money on my hair. It's one of those things that I've never been able to do for myself. Yet this experience opened my eyes thanks to the incredible nurturing I received from Daniela. Her patience, expertise, meticulous care to each and every strand of wounded hair was nothing I have EVER experienced in a hair salon. I haven't gotten a professional haircut since covid because my usual stylists had moved and hadn't taken the time to find a new person. I needed someone who was available during the evenings and after reading countless amazing reviews, I decided on Daniele. I should have left after she told me to remove my cardigan and tank top and to only wear the smock, she literally said, " I don't want any drama, just take it off. Now. I'm a curvy girl, let me tell you the smock did not cover me completely and left me exposed. I told her, and she basically told me she doesn't get different sizes because it was easier for her. Upon sitting down, she asked me to show her pictures of what I wanted. My hair was long, past my mid back. We discussed how much length I wanted cut, I initially said 3-4 inches, but she noted it would be too short and I wouldn't be happy. We agreed that cutting no more than two inches would achieve the look I was going for. An hour later, after she had me look up, she had cut SIX INCHES OFF MY HAIR!!!! I expressed my frustration and how much I was upset. She turned around and said "Well you wanted that short to begin with." Are you kidding me?? I told her we BOTH agreed in the final decision of cutting two inches. She also gave me curtain bangs which I didn't ask for nor were they in tbe pictures I showed her. The curtain bangs didn't fall correctly, especially since I have a windows peak. For all of her experience and what she charges, I expected a better experience.
