She CAN cut curly hair!!!! It has been almost four years with Shannon and I have no intention of leaving. I still remember my first cut with her- I walked in with incredibly damaged curly hair and tears in my eyes. I was sooooo fed up! Her first words,"it's ok, but do you trust me? We can fix this... This is what needs to happen...". She couldn't have been more right. She cut the damaged stuff and left me with the cutest, curly Felicity cut ever! I discovered this salon last year and have returned ever since. I think Shannon P. is a hair "artist", not merely a stylist. She works hard to perfect my cut and color every time. She's very focused and is great at working with me to understand what I want. For example, when I described I wanted a more edgy cut than I was used to, she helped me figure out that I was communicating that I want a cut with lots of movement and piecing. She also helped me get my hair healthier (it was SO dry and damaged) and she uses natural and organic products (Alterna, Euphora) that are simply fantastic for your hair. (Highly recommend the Alterna Hair Caviar - a little goes a long way; it's worth the price!) . I have very thick, fairly fine hair which is past my shoulders. Shannon is willing to spend the time to color it and cut it...I truly appreciate it because I've had a couple of stylists over the years complain to me about how long it takes to do my hair. She knows it takes long and schedules accordingly. She also balanced out my hair by removing too much bulk at the bottom of the cut. I typically get a cut or trim and highlights when I go. My color always comes out looking so beautiful - very precise, very natural which is the way I love it. She's also friendly and professional. I've never had a bad experience. She also cuts my husband's naturally wavy, thick, and coarse hair (it would be curly if he let it grow long) so amazingly well. He gets compliments on it all of the time. I was scared to go shorter than usual, but she made my inspiration pictures come to life. She took weight off my hair and blended it perfectly. I heard about this salon from purchasing a coupon on living social so I read the reviews here and found that the offer is so encouraging to try it. I'm glad I did! Shannon seemed talented and experienced. I showed her a picture of the haircut I wanted to have so she explained to me exactly how short the layers would be just to make sure I'm ok with it and not to be surprised of the result. she was so friendly and professional she took her time and wasn't in a rush as many hairdressers would be. I'm very happy with my haircut. it's exactly as I wanted it. I liked the decor of the salon and it looks like the regular prices are average, but to be honest not sure if I'll be a regular costumer since I know other salons in cinci that do good job with less money and that's why I'm giving it 4 stars. read more

I went in for a curly cut after talking to Shannon. She assured me that she had done curly cuts before but when I went in she completely chopped off all my beautiful curls and I'm left with is a wavy mess on my head that I have to grow out. I am so upset by this and now know that I have to go to a curly hair specialist and not just anybody to cut my beautiful curls. She really works with you to understand how you wear your hair and knows how to style it. The salon is a little hard to find as it is through a small door and up to the second level but it is a beautiful studio. Shannon has been cutting my hair for 5 years. My 2 1/2' long, wavy, thick hair. She's also been highlighting it for me. This poor woman. I know every time I call she probably thinks ohhhhhhh my god, this girl again. But she never shows frustration. She is a bad ass. She's never cut my hair too short, even though I'm sure she wants to cut at least a foot off. She always has appointments right when I need them, even if I'm only calling 2 days in advance. She's great. I moved to Portland, but if I know I'm going to visit in cincinnati, I make sure I get my hair cut and colored with shannon.
