After moving from California to Northern Kentucky 8 years ago, I have finally found the hair stylist I've been searching for -- Tim at Studio U. From the moment you walk in, the salon feels open, spacious, welcoming, and inviting. Tim's cutting technique is unlike anything I've experienced before. His attention to detail, precision, and ability to create a style that truly works for you is phenomenal. You can immediately tell he takes tremendous pride in his craft. What really stood out to me was seeing one extremely nasty review that seemed completely out of place compared to all the others. Out of curiosity, I looked at that individual's other reviews and, as expected, they were consistently negative and horrific across the board -- which completely discredited the opinion for me. I just got off the phone with the owner Tim. He said his name was. He just told me that he doesn't have any other personnel working there besides himself, which is a huge red flag all of his stylist left or were fired most likely left. I told him I have two 10-year-old daughters who need their haircut just a cut. He told me he was going to charge them adult prices $65 each. I also need my haircut as well so that's $195 not including tip. Also, I asked him about the woman who had a bald head on the top. He said that she was laughable. I'm not totally sure. I can't take his word for it or her word for it but it seems like something went wrong. I wish the best for this company, but you do not charge children adult prices. The moment I entered, I was met with a décor that screamed "desperation" and "outdated." The flickering lights set the mood for my impending doom. The so-called "hairstylists" were a motley crew of amateurs who made me wonder if they even had a license to practice. My stylist had the dexterity of a drunken sloth, hacking away at my hair like it was a wild jungle. I swear, I heard my hair scream in agony! The sink where they washed my hair? Absolutely revolting! I'm certain that a science experiment was brewing in there, spawning new, terrifying life forms. The water was colder than the Arctic, and the shampoo smelled like a chemical spill at a toxic waste facility. The staff was too busy gossiping to pay any attention to the clients. I felt like an afterthought, a mere inconvenience. The chit-chat was louder and more obnoxious than a flock of angry seagulls, making it impossible to relax. When my haircut was finally over, I looked in the mirror and saw the aftermath. My once glorious mane was butchered, leaving me with a hairdo fit for a scarecrow. Tim is absolutely AMAZING! I'm from out of town and decided it's time for a long overdue haircut. I went based off of the great reviews I found on Google, and Tim did not disappoint. Not only did he give me EXACTLY the haircut that I wanted, he also took the time to explain everything in detail and double checked everything with me before cutting a single hair off. He is also incredibly sweet and welcoming, and I didn't feel the time go by whatsoever. The salon itself is a beautiful clean space, and you really feel like a VIP getting your hair done there. This is my first time visiting Studio U, and I think I will stick to it in the future! :) Tim, the owner of this hair salon, did my hair today, and I was happy about it. :) I am picky when it comes to choosing a hair stylist for my own hair. This is, however, not because I want my hair to look perfect after I leave the salon, but more because I like to interact with my hair stylist. I believe in my stylist's professionalism and his or her taste. Through communication, I get a sense of if I can trust him or her doing my hair. Tim is very personable and easy to communicate with. He is straightforward and pays attention to details about his services. He is sincere and not corporate, which I really like. He also makes sure you feel comfortable with the music he plays in the background as well! :) I arrived at his salon today without knowing what I really wanted for my hair. After talking to Tim about myself and the history of my hair styles, he started to work on my hair. Tim did not rush through my haircut and was trying to find the best look during the cutting and styling process. And I absolutely love my new hair style! :) Tim's price might be a little bit higher than a lot of other hair salons in Cincinnati, but I think it is worth it. I had my haircut this past January and I wanted to make a point of writing a review because my experience at Studio U with Tim was quite exceptional! In short, I was in Cincinnati for a brief few weeks for job interviews at the Children's hospitals (I'm a doc), and it had been 3 months since my last cut, I seriously needed some restyling and a cut! When searching on google I had a gut feeling to go with Studio U so I booked a cut and Tim came to my rescue! This man is amazing- from his demeanor and vibe which put me completely at ease within the first few minutes, to his excellent skills and communication style, Tim absolutely blew me away! He was easily able to articulate whatever I was blabbing about concerning the look I wanted. He delivered THE BEST haircut of my life, and I'm not exaggerating. It literally was the best haircut experience I've ever had. He was intimately in tune with me and what I wanted. He has a very unique perceptiveness and ability to make you feel comfortable with asking questions and being forward with what you desire without any qualms. His haircut lasted 4.5 months and I could have gone longer, but summer is here so I recently went in for a trim where I live in NYC. The haircut I recently got was great, but still nothing compares to the experience and cut I had with Tim! (Too bad he's not in NYC :/ ). In Tim's presence I felt like I could fully express and be authentic to myself. It's hard to find artists like Tim who are not only exceptionally talented, but personable, perceptive and 100% dedicated to you walking out the door totally happy.
