Everything you've read about Shannon is 100 percent true! She is a hair wizardess. I came in with some funky hair that was brown that showed through with way too much red. She talked me out of touching up my roots with the brown and said I didn't have enough grey yet to worry about doing a base color plus hilights. Instead we did a full hilight with a few lowlights and toned it. What a big difference! After 6 months of funky color, she set me back on track and I felt like myself again. It's always a bonus when you can connect with the person you're stuck with for a few hours. Especially when they are a one-person operation! I lucked out. I can't believe it's taken me 7 years to leave a review for Shannon. She gives great men's haircuts and runs a very clean salon. I just came back from an appointment and felt very safe even though we're still in COVID. There aren't any other hairdressers in the shop and of course we wore masks. I called on Monday to get an appointment they said they are fully booked and offered to reschedule it for Tuesday instead, although I had plans, I accepted so i had to change things around. I got there at 10:50am , the door was locked!! I waited for 3-4 minutes , nothing , knocked... nothing. I moved to Los Angeles last year but hadn't been able to get over my Minneapolis stylist. Once, in desperation, I walked into a place near Venice Beach that looked like a great place - but my hair was cut by a woman who looked like she had been kicked off the couch in the back room only to make a couple of snips and charge me 90$. I trusted my art school friend to touch up my roots which wasn't a great idea either. I found Marcy on Yelp last November. Communication - My request for an appointment was immediately responded to with a phone call. After that we conversed through text messages (my preference). Flexibility - A couple of days before my cut/color was scheduled I had to take my car in for maintenance and wasn't sure I could afford both a cut and color so I contacted Marcy and she was totally OK with it. When I rescheduled for the color a month later she offered me a variety of times that worked around my crazy entertainment industry schedule. Products - Randt doesn't have shelves full of product, so there wasn't any pressure to buy anything which is something new to me. Even my favorite salon back home pushed product with every visit. Marcy suggested some really inexpensive treatments, a brush, and something to keep the red in my hair alive that I could go pick up if I wanted. I love that she recommends products that are affordable in the better interest of my hair. When I finally when to get my hair colored the dye that Randt uses set in really, REALLY quick and as i'm writing this close to four weeks later - the color is still as good as it was after a few washes. Technique - Marcy just knows what she is doing and understands what I want. My haircut was exactly what I was looking for despite my not know what i was looking for. "not a lot of change, but some change. No bangs, but the illusion of bangs. layers, but i don't know how many layers or how long. no, i don't really know where I part my hair" when I came back for the dye I was greeted with "i've been thinking a lot about your color and I have the perfect one mixed up" which are exactly the words I have been waiting to hear my whole life. I also want to applaud again how speedy she is while still giving my hair the most attention it has ever received. I love getting my hair done and feeling pampered, but I am also really frickin' busy, so I get the best of both worlds. Personality - Of course she's fantastic. She's smart and great to talk to. Even if her banter was awful, I would probably return based on her skills .... but thankfully I don't have to do that. Compliments - I get them all of the time. Price - I'm will to shell out more money than most making my salary for a haircut because my hair is it's own little Crazytown. But I don't have to anymore! When I originally cancelled the color with my first appointment with Marcy, it was because I was imagining pretty high numbers, but in reality it would've been half of what I was expecting. Location - I live about ten minutes away from Manhattan Beach but never make it down there since most of my days are spent commuting to/from Burbank so originally I found a salon down there so I could have the excuse of walking on the beach and walking through the clothing stores. I love the area, and parking isn't awful if you're willing to park on the other side of Ardmore (about .4 miles from the salon) otherwise you'll probably have to find a meter. read more

I came to Paige about 3 or 4 months before my wedding because I wanted to go from extremely dark brown hair (almost black) to having some nice ashy color that I was striving for my wedding. She suggested we did baby high lights and said it would take a few sessions due to how dark my hair was. I went in there, put my hair and trust in her hands and I am soooooooo HAPPY I did.
