Absolutely horrible experience!!! NEVER GO HERE. I usually do not leave bad reviews, in fact, all of my reviews to this point has been positive. I actually hate having to give this salon a bad rating but they keyword is "having to" for the good of all consumers. I came in on a Thursday for a hair cut and blow out. I wanted to just trim about 6 inches off of my hair (which was super long). I had scheduled the day before and was told that the best time would be at 11:00 AM which fit with my schedule and their schedule (or so I thought). I showed up at 11:00 AM precisely and was "greeted" by a very rude woman who must have been having a very bad day. Anyone is allowed to have a bad day, so I do not base my 1 star review on that. Anyways, I am told to "sit and wait" literally... Thirty minutes pass by and I am getting quite anxious because I never waited so long already having an appointment. Naturally, I would not be upset by the thirty minute wait, because often times unexpected things happen and sometimes salons get very busy. The reason why I was upset about the wait was because the salon was nearly empty with only two seats filled and me being the only one in the waiting area... Okay - I thought to myself - I will get over it, this definitely happens to people all the time. At this point, I was already tired but I tried to remain positive, nothing else bad could happen right? WRONG. I sat in the chair and had to wait there awkwardly for another fifteen minutes while the girl who was going to cut my hair walked around and talked to her co-workers. It was very sad when I overheard her and another co-worker openly discussing how "disgusting" the hair of another client was. This made me self-conscious and I just had a very uneasy feeling. It was time, at last! I would get my haircut, my blow out (which I could live without at this point), and I wanted to get the heck out of this place. The girl just got right to it without even asking me about how much I wanted to cut it. I had bad experiences in the past, so I decided to show her myself and indicate the exact length I wanted. She just mumbled, "okay" under her breath and did her thing anyways. She just got straight into cutting and continued spraying my hair with a mist that smelled like chemicals. The whole process took about an hour. When she was finished, she grabbed a curling iron and began "curling" my hair which is not what I wanted in the first place. What is worst is that she wasn't curling the hair correctly and ended up burning 3/4ths of my hair in the back. I saw all the smoke and decided to stand up and excuse myself. This made her angry and the lady at the front desk started shouting at me that I cannot leave without payment. I said, "fine, just let me pay and I am leaving". I handed her my credit card and she ran the transaction and in the heat of the moment I just grabbed my card and ran out. I get home right after this happened and I look in the mirror. My hair is cut only about 3 inches (not 6 like I wanted), and it is curled on the left side and completely burned on the back. I had a mass of split ends and disgusting ashy-feeling hair. At this point, this place would still get a 2 star review because I just hate giving a 1 star... Here is the last part which makes this a 1 star review: THEY CHARGED ME OVER $250 DOLLARS! I was so furious about getting overcharged that I called the place immediately. I could tell that it was the same angry front desk lady that I had seen earlier. She told me that I was being charged $100 dollars for the hair cut and blow out (which I never received by the way) and the rest was for "wasted product" and "olaplex" which I never asked for... I just couldn't handle it anymore and I hung up the phone. I am never ever coming back to this place and I am just so in shock about the 5 star ratings which makes me question the origin of these reviews. Once again, I do not want to hurt anyone's feelings or hurt your business - but you have really ruined my day, my hair, my wallet, and caused me a lot of stress. read more

I had a Devachan cut by Jeff. It was my first time going to Salon Dolcetto. I was very impressed by the cleanliness of the salon and the kindness of the people working there. Jeff was extremely thorough and patient and really took his time cutting my hair. He spent an hour just on the cut. I had had a terrible cut over a year ago I was growing out from another Deva stylist. He consulted me through the entire cut, getting my approval on the length and style, asking me about my styling abilities (which are zero) and whether I ever liked to wear my hair up so he could leave it long enough to do that. He double checked the cut all the way through, and then checked it again after washing and conditioning. He explained how to wash and condition and apply the product and how to diffuse it. He then went over my hair a third time to make sure I was satisfied. This was the best haircut I have ever had! My hair is still curly after sleeping on it, and I never get second day hair! I am extremely satisfied and will be returning there for my next cut. read more

I want to start by saying, I am always so picky about my hair and i never trust anyone due to bad experiences at other salons. I work in a hair salon myself. Mia is one of the most personable stylists ive ever met. She took her time to do a thorough consultation with me so we could decide how we could bring my hair back to life. We decided to cut 2.5 inches and do an all over color. She gladly replicated my favorite color formula. After my cut was complete, Mia gave me the most amazing blowout ive ever received. My textured & curly hair was smooth, shiny, voluminous, and bouncy. She gave me advice for at home maintenance, which had me leaving the salon confident about my hair. Overall, my experience at Salon Dolcetto was absolutely amazing. I booked an appointment to come back in 6 weeks for a root touch up & cut. I cannot wait for my next appointment. I just love this salon and will never go anywhere else for my hair. I typically see Peggy I have been going to her for last 25 years. When she changed her job I changed my Salon and went with her. I have worked with Andrea, Evelyn just to name a few and they are all fabulous. Love talking to John and Jeff. These people are true professionals, knows what they are doing and gives you the personal attention you need. It is hard to find such caring stylists. There are many salons in this area to choose from but Salon Dolcetto makes you feel special when you walk in, they pamper you with tea, coffee and even wine. This place is modern, clean and inviting. This was my second time coming to this salon- I have been searching for one for a long time and finally found the best salon! I made an appt online- super easy- with Tara, and came in the first time and she talked with me for awhile about the best option for highlighting my hair and tips for how to avoid breakage (I have very fine blonde hair). Let me tell you.... I completely loved how my hair came out!!! It's gorgeous and the best highlight I have ever had. And she also cut my hair but listened to what I wanted and kept the length but gave me nice layers. Then she took her time and did a blow out and straightened it. So needless to say I went back a second time today and again had the best experience. She took her time with me again, and gave me amazing highlights yet again, and my hair looks and feels gorgeous!!! So go see Tara at salon dolcetto!!! read more

I followed MIA to Salon Dolcetto from her previous salon and it is AMAZING!!!!! I was so happy before and would get consistent Keratins & haircuts at the old salon with Mia BUT this is a whole new level!! Mia's haircuts are the best! she NEVER over cuts, she actually listens to you and for years I had anxiety every time I needed a haircut and now that feeling is completely gone. I have horribly frizzy curly thick hair and The Keratin treatment at Salon Dolcetta called Lasio is incredible!!! My hair is not only so smooth & frizz free it's also shiny & healthy & there is no residue!! Worth every penny and worth the drive (it's over 1 hour drive from my work BUT totally worth it). I had a horrible experience at another salon, whose name I will keep confidential for this review. My birthday was approaching and I needed to have my hair color fixed as soon as possible. After reading about various hair salons in my local area and also in Mercer County, NJ I came across Salon Dolcetto in Lawrenceville and decided to schedule an appointment online. There was availability in the late afternoon on the day before my birthday, which worked out perfectly for me. My appointment was with Mel. She did an amazing job with my hair. She took the time to listen to my concerns and also was not rushing to get my hair done before the next client arrived. I was very happy about that. My hair color turned out beautiful. Best salon experience yet! The environment is incredible, not only is it well put together with exciting colors, it has a comfortable feeling. This salon leaves you feeling as if you have known these people for years, they all make an effort to be involved in your experience. Not only do they treat the customers well, they are amusing amongst themselves and it is clear they all love their job. The energy there is through the roof and I will 100% be returning. I tend to be picky with my hair and the coloring of it, and most places do well with getting my hair to the basic of blondes, but here they really made it pop and I couldn't be happier. This salon is a No No to anyone who wants a good hair style. I had the worst possible experience in this salon. I went in for a color which comes with a blow dry - they booked me with one stylist and made a different one experiment her skills on me - The so called stylist who tried her hands on my hair was an absolute amateur. She never introduced herself to me so i didnt know till the damage was done and the receptionist called her manager that it was a different person who worked on my hair. Instead of a blow dry and smoorthening my hair, she left it all frizzy and ironed it straight. I am a person who likes my hair fuller and not thinned down - and shamelessly they charged me 70 bucks for the most pathetic service. Will never recommend this place. read more

I am in my early 50's. I went in on 1/10/15 knowing I wanted a cut and highlights to transition to growing out my gray hair after 20+ years of coloring. I was assigned to Pegi who handled both the highlights and the cut. She was fabulous. She explained the differences in the highlighting techniques offered and what results could be achieved with each one. She did not try to talk me into any of them; she let me decide. Also, I came in with a picture of cut I thought I would like and we discussed how it could be modified to look best on me. I am absolutely thrilled with the look we achieved together. I visited Salon Dolcetto for a specialized Deva cut. I have combination wavy/curly hair. The Deva Cut is not a small investment, no matter where you go -- but with Jeff its well worth it. I think he spent almost 2 hours with me, start to finish. I travel a lot and have gotten the Deva cut in cities across the USA- Jeff is worth the trip to NJ. Warning: if you want to chill during your cut, tell him that - because otherwise he will give you a hair care education the entire time. I've been doing this for years and thought I knew it all - so I almost asked him to let me chill. But I'm glad I didn't because his education led to major changes in my curly hair care routine. read more

I am a frequent customer or Salon Dolcetto and I am proud to say that this is my favorite salon by far. I love the location, look and service. A few days ago I received a keratin treatment from here and it completely changed the texture of my hair. Before the treatment it was very dry and frizzy making it hard to manage but after the treatment my hair was silky, soft and very manageable. This is not the only treatment I have gotten from this salon, both me and my daughter have gotten highlights with very nice results. Dawn has been doing my hair for years!! I have curly hair and I like to blow dry it out & at times air-dry. Dawn ALWAYS gives me an amazing style that provides me those options. Not to mention keeping me trendy with up to-date styles, tailored just for me! She does amazing color work with bayalage!! I had my first facial at Salon Dolcetto today. It was fabulous, just what I needed! Lea did a wonderful job. She was professional and knowledgeable. I was immediately greeted by two staff members. Once I was checked in I was asked if I cared for coffee or tea. I was then led back to a small room dedicated to facial services. It was tastefully decorated and smelled heavenly! Jeff Most is the stylist you want if you are looking for someone who knows hair. It took me 20 years to find a stylist who could cut, color and style my hair to my satisfaction. Jeff know what to do even when I don't. I can just give him a general idea and he takes over and never disappoints me. Jeff also keeps up on the latest styles and newest information. Absolutely amazing. If you want hair color, go to Bailey! (I loved it so much I felt I needed to post my first yelp review) This was my first time here getting a cut + balayage. With straight black asian hair, I have a hard time finding a salon in the Princeton area that can do exactly what I want. You can tell Bailey is so passionate, focused, and an absolute pro at what she does. She took her time and explained every step to me. I first started going to this hair salon at their Willow Grove location and when that one sadly closed I commuted all the way to the one in Lawrence, NJ because of how awesome Tara is. She does my sister, mom, and my hair. She gave me the best balayage I could ever ask for and an awesome cut. I also received the Marula Oil hair treatment which works like a charm for someone with thick, dry, curly hair like myself! This salon is clean and all their staff is nice.
