Just saw Brent for the second time. The first time I saw him, I was in a panic after having a botched color job by a girl I had gone to a few times. I am blonde and was concerned about bleaching again within days of having it colored. Brent graciously squeezed me into his schedule and fixed the color mess at my first appointment. At my second appointment yesterday (six weeks after the first), he did a partial and haircut. I am so thrilled with the way it turned out! We spent a lot of time talking about what I wanted and he took his time, asked questions, and didn't do anything that I didn't ask for. I can also say this salon has a really fun, cool vibe. I've found my new favorite salon! I needed to freshen my hair up, and wanted to do something different but not too drastic. I booked a money piece appointment with Talia online. Pricing was extremely fair for the service. Location was very easy to find--the two story building right on the corner of N Scottsdale and Shea. The salon itself is so cute, and Talia was so sweet, talented, and accommodating! I gave her some quick inspiration pics and though I didn't add this to my services booking online, I asked if she could put toner on the rest of my hair to freshen up the brass, and she did! I'm so happy I found Bri! When I came for my consultation, I was met with smiling faces and was offered beverage right away --these were a plus to me! Bri greeted me right after. I gave a brief history of my hair and what I have in mind. (I always had full highlights since high school because of gray hairs. Due to recent health changes/treatment, my hair had started to shed and thin out. I didn't want to bleach my hair anymore). Not only Bri gave me options, she provided her utmost recommendation. Brent is AMAZING! My hair color and cut is beautiful! I am definitely going back here! I think hair extensions are in my future.

Brent has been highlighting and cutting my hair for 7 years. In the past year he insists on putting layers in my hair even though I've repeatedly said I don't want them. The left side of my hair is now chopped into random, uneven layers -- much shorter than the right side. It looks terrible and happened after my June appointment, possibly starting before that. When I brought it up in August, Brent was defensive and denied responsibility, claiming my hair was "thinning," which it's not and he knows it's not. Hair doesn't thin into random chopped layers that looks like a toddler cut it. Two experienced stylists have since confirmed the cut and/or bleach damage is bad -- possibly from bleach being pulled through too far during highlighting. My hair will take years to grow back to normal. Brent always has an assistant who is fresh out of beauty school, who handles toner, rinsing, and styling. The blow drys are always subpar, and I restyle at home every time. At my last visit, he left everything to a new assistant with no experience and didn't check the color or toner after she was done. There is high turnover with the assistants so it's always someone with no experience. The salon charges premium prices but relies on inexperienced help, and Brent, who owns the salon, no longer seems passionate about his work. Be careful going here -- Brent takes no responsibility for mistakes and treated a loyal, long-time client very unprofessionally. read more

Haircut & Double Process (Bleach Lightening and deposit of color.) I myself have over 32 years experience doing color/cuts in Chicago salons. I did see poor reviews yet also some good and proceeded anyway to go here, my fault should have listened to Michelle L. in the reviews, you are getting a kindergarten quality haircut at best. Shocked to receive a message that my original person doesn't cut pixie cuts! What? If you're on the floor working at the salon you better know how to do everything!!! I'm horrified at what walks out of here. SMH!! I am not kidding heading to my barber friend this weekend to literally shave my head!! Now to the color, the bleach used is a great bleach just not for on the scalp touch-ups as it dries out the hair hence my cotton-candy like breakage on the sides from the bleach bleeding up and being left on too long. Also bleach touch-ups need to be put on quickly!! Next the color wasn't efficiently placed around my hairline they sent me home with what we call (holidays) dark spots on my head the clearly Melanie saw cutting my hair and Talia saw coloring it. Why send the client home like that? Who does that? I might add the original color I asked for was NOT achieved! They tell me to come back to fix it! No way are you putting product on my head again!! I asked for my money back damn straight! I wouldn't let you touch my hair again. If you charge $200.00 for a Double-Process you better not leave any of my hair damaged or dark at the end of the service!!!!! Putting more product on at this point would only damage the hair further. Where did you all go to school? Owning your mistakes does NOT always mean you can fix them in your salon. I went to Salon Four8Zero and booked with Melanie, for a full highlight and cut. MELANIE knows her shit!!!!! She is SO good and really nice!! I highly recommend anyone to go to her, especially if you're a blonde. I showed her a picture of the type of dimension I want in my highlights and a different pic of what type of cut I would like and she gave me EXACTLY what I wanted. I love this place! I went in last week to have my hair blown out for my son's wedding. I do not live in town and was searching for a salon close to where I would be staying. When I called to schedule my appointment they were super accommodating and helpful. They also called me and sent me a text the week before my appointment to confirm and let me know Hailey would be my stylist. Hailey was amazing! I love love love how she styled my hair! I was planning to have my hair styled up for the wedding and really needed my hair tamed the day before the wedding so that it would be smooth and easy to be done up. Because of my dress I really needed my hair up... but I really considered leaving it down after she styled it she did such an amazing job! I have never gone to a salon for a blow out so I do not have a point of reference for price, the cost was $40 bucks. I was super happy to pay that! My husband booked me a haircut for my birthday. He chose this salon because it had a shopdog, and he couldn't have picked a better place. Tip: If you're heading east on Shea, turn in right before Scottsdale Road. It's a lot easier to find that way. Pamela was absolutely delightful and did an incredible job with my hair. Like most people, I hadn't done anything to my hair in ages because of Covid. I came in for a cut, full bayalage, and a Brazilian treatment. I walked out feeling like a million dollars. Ambiance: It was pretty full, but everybody did a great job keeping their masks on. I'm cautious about being in enclosed areas, but there was plenty of space between everybody and plenty of sanitation procedures. I was offered many bottled beverages during my service. Stylist: Pamela was professional, skillful, courteous, empathetic, and knowledgeable. She took the time to explain all my options to me and gave me some really great tips. I had no idea what a Brazilian treatment was, but she provided all the answers to the questions I asked and the ones I didn't. I felt like she had so much heart behind the work that she did. I really wanted to give her a hug at the end of it all... but Covid. Price: Salon Four8Zero is not the cheapest salon, but it is well worth the price. Prices are available on their website. Improvements: 1) Make the client more aware of how long the service will take. I was expecting a 3 hour visit, but it turned into almost double that. Nevertheless, it was well worth the time it took. (if it was on there, I definitely missed it!) 2) The website could be a little more user-friendly with better descriptions about services and the products they use.
