Who would have guessed it's in Bowie?! I stumbled upon this shop and Diane has been doing my hair for over 2 years now. I look back at my "pre-Diane" photo's and cringe at my hair (at the time I thought it was good - but now I know better!) I have very naturally curly hair and I finally took the plunge and had Diane give me the all-natural keratin treatment. I can't tell you what a god-send this has been! It literally saves me over 30 minutes each morning - yep... each morning! The best part is people actually comment on how nice my hair looks - and some even go so far as to say it makes me look younger - who doesn't love that compliment?! The true test came when I suggested my 20yr old daughter give Diane a twirl... she did and yep - my daughter loved her cut too. So much so that now she schedules an appointment at Wow U Salon when she comes into town. Trust me ladies... save yourself time, money and frustration. The entire wash and cut appointment lasted about 20 minutes and there was very little consultation about how I wear my hair or what shape I wanted the cut to have. With thick hair, a blunt shoulder cut leaves the hair very heavy and difficult to manage. I did try to address my concerns after the appointment and Diane later offered a refund, which I appreciate, but the experience itself was still very disappointing given how much length was removed compared to what we discussed.

When the stylist finally began, her attitude and overall demeanor were noticeably negative, which made the experience uncomfortable. Additionally, the stylist started blow-drying my hair without applying a heat protectant. I had to request that it be used, which should be standard practice. Clients should not have to ask for basic hair care measures. I also found the pricing to be excessive for the level of service provided. Certain treatments, such as deep conditioning, are not included in some services and come at an additional cost. During my appointment, the stylist was whispering and gossiping with another stylist, which felt unprofessional. Overall, the salon appears to charge for many add-ons while not delivering a level of service that justifies the cost. Due to the poor customer service and lack of value, I would not recommend this salon.

Without those things, the service becomes little more than someone else's opinion at someone else's price. Clear communication shouldn't be optional, especially when expectations or pricing may differ from what a client reasonably anticipates. No one should leave an appointment feeling confused about either the outcome or the final bill. Trust is built through transparency, professionalism, and making clients feel heard. When those things are missing, even the most talented stylist can leave a lasting disappointment. Trust takes time to build and only one appointment to lose.

I confidently sat in the chair, told the barber what I needed, and he went to to work. END RESULT: My shape up looked like he cut it with diamond...NO LIE!!! That's all I have to say. The barber responsible for this masterpiece goes by the name "Shanx". The spelling may potentially be incorrect, but his work is certainly on point!
