Mickey gave me all over color which turned out much darker than we discussed and darker than the photo I showed her. She made a comment when first putting the color on my level 10 bleached hair that it was already grabbing the color. Once she was done, she went into the back room, stayed there for 30 minutes without checking the progress of my color, and finally emerged and put me in a shampoo chair. And I was charged $125 for that and it took all of 10-12 minutes to put on my hair. The shampoo lady spent more time on me than Mickey did. But what really irritated me is that she charged me $50 for a pixie blow dry that took 5 minutes and no styling was needed. I was not told of that cost by anyone. The receptionist told me that she always checks the pricing before charging anyone. But she is a receptionist following what she is told to do. Mickey should have told her to adjust that price given the fact that I have a short pixie. If I had long thick hair that took 15 minutes or more to blow dry, maybe $50 would be worth it, but even that seems excessive. I am apalled. Needless to say, she got no tip! read more

I booked and paid a deposit online for my daughter's highlight appointment several days in advance. She wanted basic chunky bleach highlights, not anything particularly challenging or complex. On the day of the appointment, the salon called to say the stylist would not have time to perform the service I had correctly booked because she had scheduled other clients at the same time. I was told I would need to reschedule for an earlier time on a different day. When I asked why their system allows clients to book services that cannot actually be accommodated, no one had an answer. The deposit was refunded. I rebooked exactly as instructed, paid a second deposit, and adjusted our schedule to arrive 45 minutes earlier on a different day. Then they called again. This time, I was told the same stylist "didn't feel comfortable" doing highlights because she is inexperienced. That explanation had not been mentioned previously. At no point were we told she was not qualified to perform the service listed under her availability. We were then informed no other stylist could take my daughter that day and were asked to reschedule yet again. Two cancellations. Two deposits. Two schedule changes. Zero accountability. This was not a misunderstanding. It was a failure of management, transparency, and basic professional standards. Clients should not have to repeatedly rearrange their lives because a salon cannot align its booking system with its staff's abilities. Their suggestion? Call to book. My suggestion? Don't offer online booking if you can't manage it without repeatedly passing challenges with it onto the customer. We will not be returning. read more

This place deserves 5 stars, period. I am picky and particular about my hair. I saw Carly for 2 years prior to moving out of state, when I moved back she was impossible to book in the time frame I needed. I ended up booking with Alyssa G, amazing and kind service. Alyssa has now moved to the west coast and once again I have had to try a new stylist. I chose Ashley and she was incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to go over everything that was going to be done. My hair looks amazing and feels great. If you don't have perfectly straight hair, don't expect great service here. I have 3B hair, and every time a stylist realizes this, they act completely unprofessional. Instead of simply doing their job, they complain to my face about how long it will take to blow out my hair--something I have no control over. On multiple occasions, I've even been denied a blowout because they 'didn't have time.' If I'm paying for a cut and style, I should receive a cut and style, just like any other customer. It's frustrating that so many others have had great experiences here, yet because my hair isn't straight, I'm treated like an inconvenience. This is unacceptable. read more

I arrived at 12:30 to get a consultation, fantasy peekaboo color, and a haircut, I left 3 hours later with some of my hair the wrong shade of pink, some of it still bleach blonde, and no haircut. They booked someone else for a haircut while my pink processed, and that haircut took so long they couldn't finish my hair by the time I needed to leave. I was promised that everything would be done in the 3 hours I was booked for, and reassured during the service that this was still the case, until the 3 hours were up. Then I was rinsed by someone, and told to have a nice day. I still had the towel on my head. They had to rush me to a chair to brush my hair, which was still soaking wet, and then when I got to the counter to pay and make a follow up appointment for the haircut they missed, the lady took my payment, then told me to wait while she told another employee that her client was there, instead of making my appt and then telling them. Once again I was not a priority. When I got home and was able to take pictures of my hair and see it in a mirror (because they didn't even spare me the time to show me how it looked and ask if I liked it), I saw that they missed several spots, and the shade was completely off what I had shown the person 3 times. She took a picture of it on her own phone for reference and she still got the color completely wrong. I was also told it would take 45 minutes for my hair cut....I have shoulder length hair, and I wanted a straight chin length bob, which would mean 2 inches off the back to straighten it all out and some layer adjustments. I don't see how that would take 45 minutes, but then again I don't understand how it took 3 hours to bleach and then poorly color half of my hair. I had been candid on the phone when I made my appointment about how the ends of my hair were box dyed a year ago, and if they needed longer for my hair they should have told me so I could make arrangements. The rest of my hair is virgin! It had only been about 2 inches when I dyed it last year since I had grown it out from a shaved style. I could have done a better job at home, as I have in the past, but I wanted to treat myself, and instead of having a positive experience I had a supremely negative one. I am new to this area. I search salon that close to where I live and there it is, Xtreme Hair. I called in the am to ask if there's a walk in and the nice lady in the front desk told me there's an opening for haircut. So, Megan did my hair, it was fabulous. I asked her to trim my unhealthy ends and make it nice and layered. Mind you, I have not cut my hair for a year. She did my bangs and my back layered evenly. I am so happy with the result. From my experience,not everyone can blow dry my hair due to my thickness and coarse hair. If that person can blow out my hair, then she's skilled. I received a lot of compliment from my coworkers. I worked at night shift in ICU. On that night, after 2 round of chest compressions, my blow out is still intact. Fabulous. Go to Megan, she's a woman with skilled. RUN! I traveled 1.5 hrs every 6 weeks or so to spend north of $300 for super short hair and have been disrespected, to say the least! Reasons to NEVER give Xtreme Hair in Crofton, Maryland YOUR BUSINESS: 1) Extremely disrespectful! VERY CONDESCENDING! : They FORGOT WHO SIGNS their paychecks, their clients!!! I have literally been "rescheduled" for someone else however since I hadn't had my hair done since COVID, I politely asked if there was any way they could fit me in or reschedule someone else for a change. After all, they rescheduled me on more than one occasion. The SARCASTIC FRONT DESK MILLENIAL (Cassie B, Mable O'C, Dianna C) states: " Duh, do you hear yourself right now! NO!" I POLITELY REPLIED, "Well, I was just asking because you have done it to me more than once." It wasn't so much as even WHAT she said but HOW she said it. EXTREMELY DEMEANING! 2) SCHEDULING ISSUES: As I said, I have been traveling there for a few years under great strain and put up with all the bullcrap because I was just unable to find the time to look for a decent recommendation near me. And because I traveled so far, I rarely missed an appointment. In fact, the ONLY time I ever missed was because THEY FAILED to send me the reminder text I signed up for! And the staff in general. Due to my schedule, I have sometimes had to order food to be delivered there while I was under the dryer (BEFORE COVID) and bought Lauren Bs food and even had food delivered to her family just to be nice! 4) HEALTH AND SAFETY ISSUES: COVID- NON-COMPLIANT - hairdresser Lauren B was in my face with her mask down BELOW her nose, barely covering her mouth. Proof? I could feel her exhale air from her nostrils onto my hair and see my hair move in the mirror from her breath. 5) HEALTH AND SAFETY ISSUES: PLUMBING ISSUES-OFTEN. 6) DON'T STAND BY THEIR PROMISES: They promised help and to book zoom appointments during COVID. I requested one but got ignored. Never happened. Again, comes back to good customer service and obviously, they are SERIOUSLY LACKING IN GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE! 7) ARROGANT AND CONDESCENDING: They SHOVE their political views down your throat! Proof? By wearing their signs on their shirts or face masks, and having to listen to their political rhetoric in conversation. If you happen to not agree with them, they will not treat you with the same professionalism. I.E. They sling your hair in your eyes and face with a deliberate manner which is not the sign of a good hairdresser. 8) POOR WORK, DELIBERATE SABOTAGE!: I asked Lauren B to write down my hair tonic recipe if you will, just in the event I could find someone closer to me. She wrote down 40 VOLUME BLEACH!! No wonder my hair was getting fried according to my new hairdresser. On fine blonde hair, that would ruin it for sure! Wow, DON'T TRUST HER WITH YOUR BEAUTIFUL LOCKS! 9) In GENERAL: ATTITUDE! THEY THINK THEY ARE BETTER THAN YOU ANY DAY. I am from NY and I am not used to going to a hair salon that states walk-ins are welcomed to be told we might be able to squeeze you in. Granted it was early on a Saturday morning and I did get service. The cut that I received was so so. The stylist commented on how oily my hair was but I expected to get my hair washed by them so I did not wash my hair. Then I was supposed to wait 5 minutes with conditioner on my head which did not happen. When the stylist cut my hair she asked me to check the length. That has never happened before. I made an appointment for my next visit and was threatened about making sure I would show up. And not to cancel. On the day of the next appointment I had trouble finding gas which made me late. The salon is not in my neighborhood so I decided to call. I called and told them that I would be about 15 minutes late. They canceled my appointment. I have never had such polite mistreatment. When I am in the area, I typically go to another hair saloon (Hair Experience) that does a great job with flat ironing black folks hair-- well Lisa at Hair Exp does great... Drove ALLLLL the way over here... and they tell me that I would have to wait for an HOUR to be seen because the person before me came late. That isn't my problem... So I left. I had received a Deva cut months ago and I decided I wanted to wear my hair straight which of course meant - time for a different hair cut! I told her I wanted some layers and face framing. I love my cut! And I have a hard time getting my hair to curl and stay. She took a few extra minutes to give me tips and show me how to use my flat iron to get it to stay. I went here yesterday and got a haircut from Michelle. She was very nice and seemed very knowledgeable. I explained to her my hair situation and she really listened and helped me understand what mess I had going on. I had a lot of damage from a previous salon bleaching my hair until it was fried. Michelle walked me through what she was going to do and made sure I was okay with it. I was only there for a haircut but we talked about a future color appointment as well. I'm pretty excited this place was recommended to me by 2 different people. I wasn't familiar with the area, so I had a little trouble finding this location, as it is tucked away by Shoppers. Also, you cannot place a tip on your credit/debit card. This is told up front, but of course, I forgot and had to leave to go to an ATM machine and come back to tip Michelle. I am usually bothered by places that won't pay the surcharge to allow you to add a tip buuuut in this case, I really enjoyed Michelle and the haircut I got, so I will definitely be back and remember to bring a cash tip. read more

Third time's a charm! I moved here in August and had tried two other salons for cut and color for my dark blonde curly hair. I spent lots of money on a shabby cut and THREE attempts at correct foils for my color. I even brought the color formulas from my previous colorist in Texas and they still couldn't get it right at those other salons. Then, thanks to Yelp, I found Ashley at Xtreme Hair.
