A few weeks ago I had my hair cut and colored at a beauty school in Phoenix, AZ (first and last time I'll ever do that) and I ended up looking and feeling terrible after the weird brown color set in! (I came in to have my roots touched up, and my blonde highlights refreshed a bit) Not to mention the uneven cut she gave me.. (I have curly hair, she gave me short(ish) bangs that were completely out of control. It looked a mess!) I ended up in Toledo, OH for work soon after my beauty school hair disaster, and I feverishly began looking for help! I called Untamed and was given an appointment for the same evening with Alicia. She couldn't have been a better stylist! She listened to all of my needs and she was such a sweetheart! She took the muddy brown color I was left with, and made it the perfect shade of blonde- exactly what I wanted! She also cleaned up my crazy cut! Throughout the entire appointment she made great conversation, and the overall vibe at the salon is so relaxed! I live 4 hours from Untamed, and it would definitely be worth it to make the drive back to have Alicia do my hair again! I left Untamed feeling confident and beautiful, which is exactly how every woman should feel after going to the salon!

I found this place because I saw a review that said someone travelled 4 hours to go here because Alicia did such a great job. I called & they said they had a hypo-allergenic hair color for me. I made the appointment & showed up on time with my mask etc. Alicia seemed super nice and the hair color did not burn my head. I liked the color and it turned out great except the roots were lighter than rest of my hair. My hair was super long and was giving me a head ache. I asked if she was really good with long,, thick & wavy hair. She said yes and I allowed her to cut it. It sadly was very chopped in the back. I was very sad. I did go back a 2nd time for root touch up though because I needed it & MI was just opening. When I asked her to blow dry the back with a little flip, she said something like "Nope not doing that!" I just said nothing and left. But that first visit, I should've known that something was wrong when she didn't want me to see the back of my hair until she curled it . She offered to curl it for free. I'm pretty sure it's because she was trying to hide the 2- layers that were cut without any blending. I finally went back to my regular salon & they had to cut more in order to fix it. So you can decide if you want to go here or not?

I read some reviews and called Metro Salon hoping there was an opening- and Jody picked up and found time for me the next day! I don't write a lot of reviews--- but my experience was SO GOOD I can't help myself. Jody is a true expert. She asked a bunch of questions to get to know my hair type and what I like, then dove right in. Gave me an incredible fresh blunt cut (exactly what I wanted!) without cutting off too much length- then gave me gorgeous natural highlights at the exact tone I was looking for. Seriously, I have been getting the same combo for 20 years (trim and partial highlight) and this might be the best one yet. I live in the neighborhood and was tired of driving 45 minutes to get my hair done. I keep my hair bright platinum blonde. As I get older, it gets harder for my hair to pull without damage or brassiness. She did better than my blonding specialist that I payed twice as much for. The salon itself is locally owned, clean, comfortable and has a great neighborhood vibe. They offer a ton of services including massage, headspa, nail services and more. I couldn't be happier with Leah. A few of the other stylists can be a bit overbearing- but I think they are just trying to "help" a less experiences stylist. Because she's fresh to the game she has a very different approach to her clients. I know my hair. I hate when I go to a new "experienced" stylist and they assume they know how to lift and tone my hair. They refuse to listen, and I either leave with purple gray hair or orange tiger stripes. Leah listens, and actually got the specific charcoal bleach that has been a godsend for my course, curly, stubborn hard to lift hair. If you want a high-end quality salon experience without the high-end quality salon price, She is a great way to get in and get the same experience without the insane price tag. I tried beauty bar a few years ago and was a bit underwhelmed with the experience and overwhelmed at the price. I'm so glad I came back after seeing her work on some local community sites and contacting her on FB. She got me in quickly and this is my third trip back. I waited until I had a few encounters to leave a detailed review. I hope this helps anyone looking for a new go-to spot for self care.

During the…read moreservice, my stylist made a noticeable mistake--there was a large chunk taken out of my hair. Instead of acknowledging it, she insisted it was just my eyes focusing on the contrast between colors. That response alone was frustrating, especially when the issue was clearly visible. The owner, Sarah, was brought over to fix it. She did address one side, but the other side was left uneven and still needed to be matched. Instead of completing the correction, she shifted her attention to her daughter, who also works there, and focused on doing her hair. When she returned to me, she simply said she had been working all day, was leaving, and that my cut would be complimentary. While I understand the gesture, I expressed that I didn't want a free service--I wanted my hair fixed. Unfortunately, there was no interest in making that happen. The appointment lasted five hours, and by the end of it, I was completely overwhelmed. I can have grace for a newer stylist making a mistake--what I can't overlook is the lack of accountability and professionalism. A simple acknowledgment and apology would have gone a long way. What was most disappointing was the owner's response. My husband called the next day on my behalf because I was so upset, and she never returned his call. Hair trauma is real. This experience has left me anxious and honestly afraid to trust another stylist. Very disappointing overall.

I was told I had a free haircut because they ran late and weren't able to finish cutting my hair my previous appointment. That day, an instructor (lindsey) told me just come in another time for a no charge haircut. Apparently, they didn't put ANY free cut under my name and I had to find the instructor, "remind" her, and this was after trying to convince, Karen (another lady), that I wasn't lying.
