MIchelle saved me!. I had decided to chop off 3 feet of my hair and after 2 hours my hairdresser still couldn't cut my hair right to reflect the style I wanted. She had already gone too short in some areas and I was afraid to let her do anything else. I cried myself to sleep that night fearing I would have to shave my head and start all over. The next day my friend recommended Courtney who referred me to Michelle. Michelle saw me that day and within an hour she had me beaming with joy and excitement. Michelle was able to re-cut and style my hair to more closely reflect what I wanted. While I have to grow out parts of my hair that were cut too short by the other hairstylist, Michelle and I at least have a plan for getting my hair to what I do want. It's been a couple of weeks since I cut my hair and I still love this hairstyle. I get compliments from everyone that they love my new look! I am so happy to have found Michelle. After roughly 10 phone calls over a period of 3 days, I finally got to talk to a human, just to have her tell me that the stylists here rent their own stalls and make their own schedules, so one of them was going to have to call me back...? GRRR! Needless to say, no one ever called me. Apparently a 5 star Yelp rating means you can pick and choose your clients. Their Spidey sense must have picked up that I'm not a Los Gatos Elite member...? There is a salon on every corner here and 9 out of 10 of them have 5 star ratings, so I guess I'm going to have to keep digging. *sigh* read more

Why I agreed to have a photographer at my wedding is a mystery to me. Why I am also paying a fortune for said photographer is also a mystery to me. I have nothing against photographers. However, my fiance and I are not photogenic, hate being in the spotlight, and are extremely awkward. We will soon have thousands of pictures to remind us of all those things. Up until this morning, there might have been a tie between just what would have ruined my pictures. Would it have been my hair? Or that weird thing my left eye does when a camera is focused on me? Regardless, my hair was hideous. HIDEOUS. Luckily, Christina came to the rescue. She took one look at my hair, gasped in shock, said some Hail Marys, and went to work. Two hours later I left with lustrous brown hair with deep red highlights and a cute cut. Now I can't blame my hair when the pictures look horrible. Because my hair will be super cute. Though the money spent on the photographer was a huge waste for the above mentioned reasons, my money was well spent at Salon Rouge. I don't appreciate paying for the overhead of a nice looking salon (such as Dustin David) when they are not capable of keeping their talent. Christine is a gem! From scheduling to payment (which was exceptionally affordable), she made everything easy and enjoyable. :) Smooth scheduling, fun to chat with, took great care of me, and put my heart at ease as I got my shortest haircut yet. I really loved how all I had to do was show her a couple photos of the style I was going for and she immediately got it and got *how it would look on me.* At other salons somebody always pitches a product at me. Not Christine; she just made it all about relaxing and looking cute. :) And I've gotten SO many compliments on my hair. My only warning to customers is to arrive a little early to find parking. Words cannot express my admiration for Courtney. I first discovered Courtney at her old salon near the Pruneyard when I was living in San Jose. A friend with really thick and curly hair (like myself) said she would know how to tame my weave. After a few appointments, being mesmerized by her technique and awesome personality, I was sold. I gave up on trying to find a new place to get my haircut and made that salon my home. Once I moved to San Francisco, I found ways to make it down to San Jose to visit her at her old salon. When she said she was moving down to Los Gatos, I immediately thought, "awesome... what am I going to do now?" Even though the drive is only 5-10 more miles, it makes the return drive home seem that much more daunting. But let me tell you, folks: Courtney is as good as it gets. She knows how to cut my hair knowing how it will look in a few weeks (which is essential for people with fast growing hair- you can't just cut it so it looks cute tomorrow). She's laid back, easy-going and remembers the things you tell her. She always asks about my life happenings without having to bring anything up. She tells me when my ideas for a haircut will make me look toe-up... and if you just want to be surprised, she's great at doing whatever she wants that will ensure you come out of the store hotter than you were the moment you walked in. She may be new to Salon Rouge, but she's now one of their greatest assets. read more

Christina kindly did the test strip for me (months ago, I suck at updating). Sadly, it doesn't seem to be for me. But I love that she was honest with me and did research for me. She told me that it would be possible to do the process twice, but with my fine hair, she wouldn't advise it. She wasn't into just doing something I "thought" I wanted, taking my money, and leaving me with the consequences. Instead, she has come up with a new treatment that may work, but I've been dragging my feet on doing my own research. She has also offered to teach me how to blow out my hair, which I have also dragged my feet on. (I'm quite the procrastinator!) She truly evaluates your hair and what you say you want. She does fabulous color - she first did a color with weave for me (to cover my grey ;-) ) and then recently a touch up that was perfect! And I love the layered cut she does for me! I love Courtney at Salon Rouge. She started as my stylist at Rage in Campbell, and I followed her to the new salon in Los Gatos. I absolutely trust her with my hair and usually just go in and say "same thing" or "do something totally different" and leave it up to her to decide what to do. For a long time she was really flexible about scheduling, to her detriment. She worked all the time. I am glad now that she has me book in advance, for her sake! That way she is able to keep a clean easy schedule. I appreciate that she is always on time, very present during our time (no talking on the phone etc) and that she is good at what she does. I have had strangers on the street come up and ask me where I get my hair done. In fact, I started to carry her card with me. Also, her prices are excellent. Salon Rouge itself is stylish, clean and small. I appreciate that because I didn't like the atmosphere of a previous salon, where you can here people gossiping about each other and the pace felt chaotic. read more

This place is nice, clean and trendy and on that deserves a few stars. But the real reason I gave this place 5 stars is because of Courtney! She's is amazing, she can make ugly people beautiful! Okay okay I kid! But she does wonders. She is our family hair dresser and we followed her from the old place. She does a great job with everyones hair and is really reasonable. Guys, if you want a great hair cut you have to get Courtney to cut your hair. Plus she's pretty cool and her wit is sharp as a tack! I enjoy going to her because I get a great cut and it's fun. I just got my hair done today and I'll upload some pictures soon. I HIGHLY recommend Melissa from this salon. Melissa is SO great! She gave me exactly what I wanted and MORE and I didn't even have a picture. I gave her a vague explanation of what I wanted and she confirmed and even gave me a more detailed explanation of her suggestions for that hair cut. I got a hair cut that was punky with a lot of layers that's still long but gets layered shorter as it goes up. Sound simple? She made it look like it was hard and cost a lot more than it did. I followed Miss Courtney Weaver from Rage to Rouge! Courtney undoubtedly is a great asset to Rouge. Extremely professional, friendly, and courteous. She's so flexible with styling as well. This review is specifically for the black curly hair lady that works here. I was looking for a parking spot to go to a nearby store, then all of a sudden the salon lady came out and starting using profanity on me and other people nearby saying "get the fuck out of here, you're not supposed to park here". I was surprised at first and didn't know if I heard her correctly, then the car next to me shouted out "Excuse me, you don't have to be rude". And so the next thing I know, the rude salon lady started becoming outraged and just kept on cursing at us WHILE we were trying to leave saying things like "I don't give a fuck, there's a fucking sign that says don't park here, can you people read" and went on and on as she stormed in and out of the salon and to her car. It's the last day of the year for god sake, whoever she was, she needed to chill and be respectful. You're going to lose business treating people poorly whether they're your customers or not. read more

Recently was my very first visit to Salon Rouge and I can't wait to come back! As soon as I walked in I was greeted with a smile and felt very welcome. Michelle is the stylist that did my hair and I absolutely love her! After a quick consultation discussing my hair type, preexisting color, and sharing pictures of what I wanted she knew exactly how to make it happen and she delivered! Michelle knows how to work with any style you throw at her; she is great with advice on what will work best for the shape of your face. You give her a description of what you want and you can let her run with it...sit back and enjoy with no worries as she takes care of you...I promise you'll love it! When it comes to color, I like to play with my hair and go back and forth on my choice between highlights and lowlights, solid color, etc...she makes sure to let me know when a process is going to take a few times so it doesn't damage my hair. I am new to the area and tried this salon based on Yelp Reviews and I was reasonably happy but not thrilled. Christina, the owner, did my highlights and she got the color pretty close and it looked natural, as opposed to streaky which was good, but there were still some roots that were noticeable near my part and it looked like I needed to be highlighted again. The salon is gorgeous. The other ladies who work there Rent their booths from the owner so they are not chosen for their skills. Ratings for the salon should really be stylist-specific. read more

Suna's hair color is bar none. I have had my hair colored by Suna for over 10 years now and I love her attention to detail and she always gets the color right. As for cutting hair, Suna always gives me a precision cut and makes sure that I understand which tools, products and blow drying methods to use to get my hair looking like I just stepped out of the salon. She is so great about educating and equipping her clients. I just love that about her! The best thing about this awesome hair stylist is that she is not stuck in a particular decade and is always increasing her knowledge of the current methods of cutting and coloring hair. Suna has always welcomed my feedback and there are some days where I say, "change it up and do what you want, I trust you" and there are other times when I have an idea/picture in mind and we will discuss it first to see if it will work with my hair type. She does a Keratin treatment(no formaldehyde) that is absolutely fabulous for straightening hair. I have a teenage daughter with very curly and thick hair, enough to make 3 full heads of hair. Suna did a Keratin treatment for her and for the first time ever my daughter has enjoyed her silky smooth beautiful hair. The best thing is that it has lasted for over 4 months. Suna has already proposed another newer method that she has learned about that is even more cost effective. This gave my daughter the freedom to put her hair in many new hairstyles that her curly hair did not allow. She has a wealth of experience with product, cutting, coloring and styling techniques and is always looking to learn new things to offer to her client base.
