I visited Lindsey at Nimbus last week. Not only is she an amazing hairstylist shes also extremely personable, understanding and so much fun to have conversation with. She treated my scalp and hair, then dried my hair straight before she cut it. Her eye for shape and texture is amazing and the moment i left the salon after misting my hair with water to reactivate my curls, i instantly got a compliment! Fabulous cut and color from Marla! She's truly an artist. I lived in NYC for 20 years and have been hunting for my person here in the Bay and it's Marla. She gave me a beautiful razor cut shag, based on my inspo photos but also taking into consideration my hair which we discussed together to get it just right. This is the haircut of my dreams! Color was also spot on, she achieved the ashy tone I'd been looking for. She said how much she loves the Aveda hair color line as you can mix colors just like you would a palette of paint, and it shows in the results. At my request she used a demi color to cover my greys. I've been going to Nimbus for a few years now. Ever since another salon we shall not name somehow kept chopping my hair shorter and shorter when all I wanted them to do was layer it. Thankfully, my hair grows super fast so that nightmare lasted only a few weeks, and it was also how I found Kenna! I love my hair and prefer to do my own blowouts, etc., so I always want a good, structured cut that not only frames my face well but also hold its style - whether I curl or straighten it. And Kenna always delivers with all of it! She not only knows my style, she's also so in tuned with me she knows how much to cut, or not cut, no matter what I tell her. Not a natural/textured hair friendly salon!!!!!!! If you are a person of color with natural hair stay away! While visiting Los Gatos I need a root touch up and a blow out. Came across Nimbus while seeking an Aveda salon. Scheduled my appointment, and was specifically told that my blow out was included with my root touch up. Hooray, just like my Aveda salon in Los Angeles. Off I went to my appointment with my Aveda formula in hand. Cape on, sat down, took my bun out and she touches my thick brown hair and tells me that my blow out was not included in my service because my hair was so "thick." Huh, since when does that matter? So if I had fine, thin, straight hair it would be included???? Yep. But since it's not I have to pay an additional $65 or walk out with wet hair. That seems inappropriate. I don't pay more at DryBar or anywhere else because I have naturally thick curly hair. So now what do I do? I can't go elsewhere as it's the Friday before Christmas and I'm already sitting in the chair. I can't do it myself as I'm on vaca and my dryer, products, everything is at home. My $95 appointment is now $160???!?!?!? So she begins. I looked around and took note, I'm the only person of color in this place. Uh oh! Color, blow dry, clearly they don't deal with hair like mine. Flat iron is necessary as it will not stay straight otherwise. A half hazard flat iron later, please get me out of here! At least I brought my iron so I can fix this when I get back, ends aren't smooth, sticking out terribly. I could not get out of that chair fast enough!!!!! Go to pay only to then be told that my blow dry was now $85 because she had to use a flat iron! I am beyond appalled and disgusted. Quoted $95 and my service ends up being $180. I was treated, and charged differently because I have textured hair? NOT COOL. I have never been treated this way in a salon in my entire life. Will be going to my salon back at home where everyone regardless of hair texture is treated the same and charged the same. Such practices are racist, inappropriate, and just plain awful. How is this happening in 2023?!?!?!?!?!? Disgusting. And on top of it all I just plugged in my flat iron to fix this disaster:( read more

Stephanie Bell was fantastic! My 8 year old daughter has thick ginger hair that was very long and she wanted it cut to give to locks of love. I recently visited Lindsey for a dry cut, and I couldn't be happier with the results! In the last 20 years I have only let (3) people touch my hair due to a horrible hairdresser in high school who ruined my hair. Lindsey was recommended to me by a friend and I'm so grateful that I found her. She listened to what I wanted and was super patient with me and my past hair trauma lol. I had my hair done by Elnaz. She knows how to do proper highlights and style my hair perfectly! Elnaz is my hair stylist from now on. My hair is healthy and well taken care of! The salon itself is small, but cute. Check in is easy. The chairs are comfortable. The wash basins are great as well. My neck never feels like it's going to break in half. Let's talk about Janis. Another update after over year and 7 + sessions : I can proudly say that patience pays off. Taking a head of hair that once was once beautifully blonde, then over-bleached to oblivion/orange, then black box-dyed to oblivion for two years...... all the way back to healthy, happy, BLONDE again is no small feat. Demetra and her team of lovely ladies took my particular challenge of a head on this journey with grace and class - making me a devoted Nimbus girl for life. I had my hair cut today by my wonderful stylist Janis. I am in my 60's and I hadn't been to the salon since January because of Covid. I wanted to share what a wonderful job Nimbus has done to revamp their operating procedures to make everyone safe. While I was there, there was only one other customer getting their hair done. It felt very roomy with fresh air. Every station and wash area gets sanitized before you arrive. Your belongings are stored in a sanitized crate stored right next to you. Everyone is masked. You are given a disposable mask when your hair is washed because it may get wet. I appreciate all of the details and extra work by all of the Nimbus employees to allow their customers to return to such a safe environment. Of course Janis knew just what to do, as always, with my now very long locks and I am happily enjoying my new haircut. Thanks Janis! read more

Love this salon and Lauren! I've seen her twice now for cuts, plus 4 or so bang trims (which are free between appointments!) and have loved both my styles! Lauren takes her time, asks questions along the way to make sure she understands what you want, and happily makes any tweaks or adjustments to get it absolutely perfect so you leave feeling great. She also listens when you say what you are/are not willing to do in terms of maintenance, and builds the style around your hair habits- I told her I hate styling my hair every day and want something that will air dry and compliment my natural wave pattern, and she's delivered on this both times. The salon itself is in a great location, has reasonable prices for an Aveda salon in the Bay Area (read: not cheap but not exorbitant either), is clean and cute, and I'm pretty sure they offer wine to clients! Got my haircut by Linda Vo a few weeks ago and am still getting compliments! She is not the cheapest haircut out there, but definitely worth every penny! It was time for a big hair change (long to short) and I am not one to take chances. I used to make the trek out into the city for a reliably good haircut, but my stylist was on maternity leave indefinitely. So, I was referred to Linda by a friend of mine who has been going to her for years and I've always thought she had great hair. Linda is extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and talented. Not only did my hair look amazing after leaving her chair, but she taught me how to style it so that my new shorter hair makeover could look good when I am left to my own devices. On top of that, Linda cut it in a way that gives me the option to air dry my hair (when I am in a rush) and it still looks good! Thank you Linda for the best hair makeover I've had in my life. This salon is wonderful, I have come here multiple times and the girls are always very sweet and caring about what you want done to your hair. I usually go for highlights or balayage. Most recently I had a very uneven haircut that I needed fixed and I also wanted highlighting. I made an appointment with Isabel and she was the best! I appreciated that right at the beginning of the appointment she gave me a price point for the services I wanted done. I think that is the most relieving thing I could ask for before getting a service done, for some reason I have found it difficult to get a solid answer from my stylists on a price point *before* getting my services done at other places. KENNA is the hair goddess !!! I have been in hair heaven for the last week . I wore my hair down everyday since she cut my hair. I started coming to Nimbus in 1998 when I moved to the bay. One of the best recommendations I have ever received. Sheri has been cutting/styling my hair every 6 weeks or so for the past 12 years. We have literally grown up together & I look forward to our visits. Not only do I love her personally but she always makes my hair look fantastic. The salon is exactly how you want your salon to be... cooler than you are. All the stylists look hip & seem to all make their customers happy. In all fairness, I have had a number of good experiences at Nimbus since I had been visiting here for about 4.5 years. But very clearly the trend has gone downward in the last 1.5 years. Perhaps it's the lack of dedicated front desk staff (I see new faces every other visit), or the free-lancer attitude of some of the stylists (there doesn't seem to be a strong sense of loyalty to the salon), or the complacency of some of the stylists (you get taken for granted), and the apparent disinterest of the owner in keeping up customer service (she used to be very responsive in the past!). My last visit was very disappointing and I specifically requested the owner call me back. No response. Thank you Demitra! I never returned. I debated a lot between a one star since I'd not recommend it to friends, but decided that they had at one time been four stars and I decided to finish up with a 2. Update 2/18/13: Demetra had followed up to apologize for my experience. I appreciate the follow up and bumped it up to 3 stars. read more

Be prepared to read a long review as it is way overdue. And, it's not for a one-time service either. I've been going to Nimbus for 3 years and only to Linda. She's done almost everything with my hair and I never leave disappointed. First, I'm a big fan of Aveda products so that was the first reason I came here. Second, Linda is gorgeous and I always look to my stylists' hair as one of the testimonies of their work and taste. I'm pretty conservative when it comes to my hair. As a mother of 3, you just don't have the time for high maintenance. I'm not a difficult client but I do know what works and doesn't work for me. Linda has given me great advice on color and cut when I'm ready for a small or big change. Here's my timeline of services and opinion of each. March 2010 - I had just had my son in November and I go to Nimbus for a change. Linda chooses a rich deep chocolate color for me which closely matches my natural color but adds warmth and shine. She cuts it shoulder length and makes it look fuller. Some of you women know what hormones can do to a woman's hair, then you can appreciate the above. It was perfect because I needed low maintenance with an infant without looking like I was fatigue and tired. :) October 2010 - I'm newly engaged and we set the date for Summer 2011. I want to start thinking about my hair for my wedding day. I go to Linda for something big. She recommends extensions. I'm a little hesitant because it sounds like a lot of maintenance but really isn't if you take good care of them. She does an amazing job and I LOVE IT. Again, keeping in line with my color, she stays dark and natural. Do big but not so big, right? :) I constantly received compliments on my hair and how natural it looks. She gives me all the right advice on how to take care of my hair and I go back every 3 months for a whole year with my extensions. Because I took great care of them, I was able to use them multiple times. June 2011 - The BIG DAY is the following month and we again try something new. Because of the location of our wedding (high humidity) and the natural texture of my hair , she recommends doing a brazilian blowout (keratin treatment). OMG, I loved how silky my hair looked and felt. July 2011 - Guess who is my wedding hair stylist? Yep, Linda. She did my hair for both receptions. By the way, her sister Kristina is a makeup artist for MAC and she was amazing as well. For the first reception, we went for soft and romantic look and for the second reception, she did finger waves in my hair. LOVED IT!!! January 2012 - With the wedding whirlwind over, I'm back to low maintenance and I tell Linda I want to remove my extensions and start all over. She recommends not doing anything drastic but I insist on cutting is all off. She does what I asked and as it turns out, the above-the-shoulder cut with side swept bangs look great. Oh, and with the short do, I also opted for highlights (not so low maintenance) and I was very happy. Nimbus is a great salon with friendly gals. Recently I was diagnosed with cancer, I could not have imagined a more kind and caring person than Demetra. She cut my hair as it was falling out and then weeks later took care of shaving it completely when there was no other option. They were some emotional days for us indeed. The fifth star is for Sheri G. She is the best stylist, the most committed to Aveda to the point of going on her own dime each year to Aveda's corporate events, and she is a really nice person. The prices are not cheap, but she can work wonders. I also love the location and the space is cool. The rest of the staff is so-so. Some are really helpful and offer water and so on, and others..well you get the idea. Still, it's worth it. read more

Nimbus is my new salon of choice. Yes, guys can have a salon of choice. I've had a few different stylists over time as people move on to other states and what not. Prices are much easier to swallow than at Juut and I think they're on par in terms of quality. The salon itself has a hipper, less upscale feel to it, kind of like a loft, but it adds to the fun I think. For me a haircut runs about $40-$50, depending on who's doing the cutting. I can recommend Angela Mackenzie or her co-worker Sheri. They're both fun, real nice, give good cuts, and have been at Nimbus for awhile. I really don't think you can go wrong with either of these two. Some of the people here are only so-so, as I've had some bad cuts before (that person is now gone), so I think in terms of consistency, it's probably not as good as Juut. But I'm paying half the price and getting the same thing and that's always a good thing. read more

I'm a huge NEW fan of this establishment. The front desk was very nice and the place is very very clean. My wife got her hair and color done by Robbie and she LOVED it!!! So I decided to get my rad haircut from Robbie as well. Guys, want a GREAT haircut then ask for Robbie!! He's very professional and communicates well from beginning to end. Rarely does someone do a stellar job on the first cut, but with a few minutes of chatting before we started he seemed to know exactly what to do! I give this place a five only because of the skill, creativity and quality of Angela Mackenzie. I highly recommend her if you are a person, like me, who admittedly knows nothing about hair styles and want to go to someone who will just make your hair look good without having to think about it. :) She is able to use her creativity to provide a hair cut and color that suits me. I go in and my hair is a wreck and come out with a beautiful hair style. She just says - you should do this length, style, color - and I just nod. I totally trust her because she provides a custom hair style that fits my face shape, personality, style and hides some of my flaws. The salon itself is like an unfinished loft and really isn't that impressive (once the hot water was out during the shampoo). There is only street parking which sucks on weekend mornings in downtown los gatos. And, the work that Angela does totally makes up for these small shortcomings. read more
