This was my first time going to Alchemist, and this is also the first haircut I've had where I loved it right off the bat. Apparently, they had me scheduled for 1:00. JESSICA said the salon never calls clients when they are 5-10 minutes late - they just cancel them. She had no client in her chair and didn't tell me why she couldn't take me for a simple trim on a simple, non layered bob cut albeit a little late. I rescheduled, but felt there was little care for clients. After a moment, I decided to cancel that appointment and said that I was outside for 20 minutes and if someone had called or texted, I could have walked right in. She, in her distant, saccharine soaked voice said, I'm busy - good luck finding another salon. I did find another salon - one who assured me that if a client is running late they call or text to see if they are on the way, ESPECIALLY first time appointments, like mine, in case they are having trouble finding the salon. It took my new stylist 20-25 minutes for a wash and a beautiful bouncy trim. I left it air dry into beach waves today. I have an appointment next week for a color session to help me grow into my grey in a blended way and will get the works. Having a home in San Diego and one here, I was disappointed when my regular stylist moved away from the area. I am glad I found a great stylist and will be very motivated to keep her happy as well, via my tipping. As the parent of a daughter in the industry, in San Diego, I have learned from her that a 20% tip for a stylist compared to 20% for a meal at a restaurant is not equal. A stylist spends a LOT of time on you herself. I agree and tip based on time which is higher than the expected standard. I wish JESSICA luck, knowing it will take her 3 clients at least to equal one of my tips.

I was sitting in her chair the next week. Her attitude is infectious. Beautiful in and out. Her hair studio is inviting and calming. She doesn't wash your hair that I know of, so if you need that, I would suggest going in after you wash with wet hair. But check with her first. She may want to cut your hair dry like she did mine. Many stylists are going that route. Can't wait to see her again.
