I came in with about three months of natural grow-out and asked for a dark blonde that softly fades into a lighter blonde. During the consultation, I was told my natural root color was already the perfect shade for what I was going for. However, a root smudge was applied that made my roots noticeably darker than my natural color, and the bleach was brought very close to the root. This resulted in a much higher-contrast look than what I requested, and not the soft, blended, lived-in blonde I was going for. I understand that a root smudge can come out a little darker, but I don't understand why a root smudge was done, or why bleach was put so close to my roots when I specifically asked for it to gradually fade. Now it's much darker roots and a harsh line. I'm disappointed, especially because I specifically asked to keep my natural root color. I feel like this was done in order to charge the client more. I would recommend having a detailed consultation and clarifying exactly how close to the root lightener will be applied before starting. read more

I would highly recommend that no one ever go to Salon 17 to see Kayla. I have never written a review for a business before and do not complain, even when something goes wrong. However, I made the mistake of waiting too long so set up an appointment to get my hair dyed before a wedding with my usual stylist at another salon so I had to look elsewhere and landed on Salon Ten 17. I reached out for an appointment and, unfortunately, Kayla called me back. I show up to my appointment and the first thing she does is call in another stylist for her opinion. I was completely fine with this and actually took it as a good sign that she wanted a second opinion before she did anything. Well, after an hour later of bleach covering my head, she shampooed my hair. While asking me if I was on medication, she removed the towel. My hair was not only green, but red and purple at the same time. She told me that because I was on medication it was "not the stylist's fault what color my hair ended up." Keep in mind I had gone from brown to platinum blonde hair only years earlier with no problem while on the same medication. I stayed calm until she said she would just bleach it again. I immediately stepped in and told her to just do a brown shadow root to cover up all the ruined hair. She agreed, did the toner on the root, and finished bringing me back to the exact color I had when I walked in while making the comment that "at least I still had hair." When it was time to pay, she said she would be charging me for a color correction rather than the normal fee because she had to fix the green, purple, and red hair. The hair she had ruined. So, in an effort to run out of there, I paid and left in tears. Now I will be headed to my brother's wedding with fried, brown hair. The opposite of what I requested. read more

We walked in, without an appointment, on a Tuesday and waited maybe 15-20 minutes. Heather cut my daughter's hair in the style requested and it looked great when Heather was done.
