Two more nails came off a few hours later.

New Customers Beware!! I am new to the area and decided to try this salon due to the 5.0 Google & Yelp ratings online. It seemed really promising, but I will definitely not be returning. THE PROS: **The location is great. **There's plenty of parking. **The décor of the salon is nice. **The nail tech Kelly is wonderful. She's very friendly and talented, which was clear by the many customers that came to the salon asking specifically for her. THE CONS: **Regular polish is discouraged. When I made my appointment over the phone, I requested a Spa Combo (Manicure & Pedicure) with regular polish. I was asked if I wanted Gel instead and I declined. When I arrived at the shop and checked-in for my appointment I was asked again if I wanted gel instead. I declined again. After I picked my color and began my pedicure I was asked again if I wanted gel instead. Again, I declined. Once I moved on to my manicure, I was asked yet again if I wanted to get gel. I explained that I prefer regular polish. After declining a final time, I was then told throughout my manicure how "regular polish takes longer to dry" and that "the color may not look the way I want" and finally it was joked that "if your nails mess up once you leave here, don't blame me." **Lyna, the manager has poor customer service. After my pedicure my tech asked me to sit and wait while she finished her next client. 10 minutes into waiting, the manager Lyna comes by to tell me that two nail techs called out sick and that's the reason for the wait. I didn't complain but was shocked that I was expected to just wait indefinitely. Due to this, a mani/pedi and eyebrow wax took a total of 3 hours. At the end of my service, I paid and tipped my tech, but pulled Lyna to the side and quietly and politely let her know that I wasn't really happy with having to wait that long. As a first-time customer I thought I would be met with an apologetic demeanor, but Lyna got defensive telling me "I can't control if people are sick" and asked "would you want your boss to tell you to come to work if you were sick?" She then said when I come back next time she would make sure I had great service. The next day (which was my birthday), while I was out, I noticed one of my nails was bare - like the polish popped off. By the end of the day several other nails did the same thing, and I was so embarrassed. This has never happened to me in the 30 something years I've been getting manicures! *Please note that Kelly did my pedicure and one thumb and all of those nails were perfectly fine. The others that fell off were painted by Lyna. My husband called the salon to speak to Lyna to see how she would remedy this issue. When she offered for me to come back to the salon, we declined and she got defensive and argumentative saying things like "I told her if something was wrong she could come back in and we would fix it" (which was untrue), "I have been in business a long time and I know customer service" and "I understand you - I speak English." Finally, she agreed to refund us 'half for the mani' which we understood to mean half of the Spa combo for the manicure. However, when we arrived in the shop, she told us that she would refund half the price of the manicure only. This was after she decided to speak her mind about me refusing to let her fix the mistake and that their policy was that they don't issue refunds. I was shocked! The whole ordeal made me so upset and I told Lyna in tears that I did not deserve this treatment. I was respectful to her and her business all of this time and was met with rudeness and hostility. I have never been treated like this by a business before. And the last thing she said to me was "I will write this check and then we never have to see each other again." So, to sum it up, if you want a gel manicure in a nice area, this may be for you. However, please know that Lyna (the manager) can be very unprofessional and rude. I would look for other shops in the area that prioritize customer service.

I have been coming here since my first post & the service continues to be all that myself & anyone else would want it to be. It's just what you need when you don't even know you need it. Very customer service driven by the owner & the entire staff.

My beloved eyebrow place closed recently *insert a waterfall of tears* and I was forced to make a…read morechange. I have really sensitive skin and always break out after getting my brows done, whether I do wax or threading. I decided I had nothing to lose by booking a brow appointment at Sugar and Hive. I thought I was booking an appointment to have sugaring done, but when I got there they clarified that it was wax, which was no problem. The area was bright, nicely decorated and squeaky clean. There's a large open treatment area where the facials and other skin services are done and then a couple of treatment rooms for body waxing. My waxer happened to be able to do my brows in one of the treatment rooms which I was glad about. I walked in and was floored by the over the top (see what I did there?) decor. The wallpaper on the ceiling is such a nice touch since you're laying down on the table. I love when businesses really hone in on the little details in order to make the space shine. After talking through my options, we decided to go with hard wax, instead of soft, for my sensitive skin. The treatment was painless and afterward she covered the area with hydrocortisone cream. My eyebrows looked very natural and nicely shaped. I was very happy with the service and the best part is that I didn't break out! The hydrocortisone cream must have been the golden ticket. I made my next appointment before I left and am looking forward to it.

I visited habit after looking for a spa for a facial as a Valentine's Day treat to myself. I…read morereceived a lot of ads about habit after searching and they were offering a new customer special. I received a custom facial from Lani and it was a great experience. She was super friendly and explained exactly what products she'd use based on my skin from her observation and my concerns. The facial was awesome and I'd love to put it in my routine consistently but it'd be a bit of a splurge for me. Now the space itself was beautiful but could use some improvements for customer experience. First the room I received my facial didn't have a curtain it was open which made it hard to relax and wind down because I could hear people moving throughout the spa and talking. A lot of talking. Not obnoxiously just more than I'd care to hear since I came to relax. Lastly. The music choices could also be a bit more relaxing like calming/soothing instrumentals rather than music with lyrics. Overall I'd visit again but some changes could make this a much better experience.

When I tell you I feel like a whole seal in the best way, I am not exaggerating! Skn & Wax Bar is in a very cute and clean salon studio on the West side, and the owner, Kendra, has organized and designed it with the cutest decor. On top of that, her space is absolutely spotless. She uses the best products for absolutely everything, from the wax down to the table cover + draping cloths. Kendra is incredibly kind + personable, the type of person who immediately makes you feel comfortable. I'm an extroverted person who doesn't necessarily struggle with timidity, but still, she has the kind of personality that I imagine makes even shy or withdrawn people very comfortable--she's just naturally sweet and kind with a positive and joyful disposition. I went here not having been waxed in over six months, so you can imagine what we were working with. Cut to my shock going from 'literally cannot live like this one more day' to 'OMG this is the best wax of my life' within 30m. Kendra was *extremely* detail-oriented and made sure she left nothing behind. It wasn't a super fast wax, and in fact it took some time (about 35-40m , realistically), but I've had plenty of fast waxes in my life only to get home later and find lots of little hairs still hanging around. Not this time! I knew it looked and felt good when I left, but it wasn't until later when I was at home showering that I realized that, perhaps for the first time in my two decades of waxing, I was really, truly, completely bare. I can't tell you how clean and amazing it feels! As for pain, which I see as collateral damage, but I totally understand is the dealbreaker for many people: Kendra has a great method that actually protects you from excessive pain, even in the tenderest of spots. She's also very cautious to instruct you to take a deep inhale when she knows it will be more harsh, which helps tremendously. Overall, it barely hurt at all, and I definitely had NO lingering pain when I left (which is not always the story with waxing). Kendra has a client for life in me. I can't recommend her services enough. Just GO and tell her I sent you:)
