Had my car brought to the location for a starter problem. There was no communication from the shop after having it for a few days. After I reached out I was prompted with the solution and was told they were waiting for a part that had to be shipped from the dealer. I was told multiple times it was expected the next day. Additionally the service advisor said he would call me back which never happened. The only contact was initiated by me. Finally when the part came in after waiting two weeks I finally received a phone call but I was told the part they were waiting for wasn't actually the problem, it was a connection instead. I advised the service employee multiple times I was paying for a rental and time was a factor. I was charged for multiple diagnostics and charged two times for the part received. Based on service I would not recommend this shop. read more

I am so grateful for the service I have received at Sal's...for 23 years they have taken such good care of my cars. It's a great relief to have a place where you can trust that the right thing is being done. I've had some pretty big problems with my cars and have always been taken in and helped. I'm a native of Wolfeboro and have tried every repair facility locally, and must say Sal's is by far the most competent, well informed and professional facility around. They usually come in within the original estimate or under it and in some cases have saved me a pile of money over other garages. I have four cars that are mostly older and they know how to work on all of them no matter what brand, Sal is very competent and conscientious and doesn't let something out of the shop unless it's fixed right the first time. Sean, his service writer, it's not only very helpful but also very experienced in knowing the idiosyncrasies of many cars and brands. I definitely will go back to them as well as advise them to others. You get what you pay for when it comes to good mechanics. I was in area on vacation and had a small issue with car. The staff fit me in right away, gave a quick diagnosis (in short, nothing was seriously wrong) and were courteous every step of the way. Even more remarkable: They refused to charge me! (Admittedly, it didn't take them a lot of time, but almost any other mechanic would have at least charged a diagnostic fee.) Sal's Advanced Auto Body is on Center Street now in his own new building, about 2 miles up from town. He and his employee John SAVED my VACATION and marriage today- Aug 23, 2017 Yesterday after using the parking brake, it never fully disengaged. The tires were smoking after 4 miles and we weren't sure we would be able to get home to NJ. We were told to go to Sal- his bulletin board has so many thank you notes- evidently he was the master mechanic at the town Sunoco and he's well known among local Wolfeboro residents. After they finished a customer's car on a lift, they put our Tundra truck up and diagnosed the problem quickly before fixing it. We were out of there in under an hour, with a reasonable charge and our truck is fine again. Our car broke down on Main Street in wolfeboro NH. We called Sal's to see if he could help us. He told us to bring the car over. We are from Massachusetts and 2 hours from home. He couldn't get the part, but called a friend at The Lakes Motel to give us an excellent rate. It was fixed the next day. He was a fair honest mechanic. My husbands family are mechanics, so my husband knows cars--and honest mechanics. Sal was very fair, and helpful. Highly recommended. read more

The people at Sal's are so helpful and really listen. Their willingness to really listen to a layman's description of the sounds and actions that the vehicle was making and patiently ask questions to be sure they comprehended is so appreciated. They also took the time to explain the issues in a language I could understand. So refreshing in this busy age. They are as concerned with your safety as your family would be, warning is not to drive it and why while we waited for the appointment. One part wasn't in on time so they gave us back the vehicle so my daughter who is an in home health aide could get to her clients, and didn't require her to pay till it was all done. I do NOT recommend this shop. I took my car in to get a regulator in a window replaced. They put in a bad part which broke less than a year later (I took the car to a different mechanic who was surprised that anyone would put the part in and was shocked it had worked this long). I called Sal's and the guy I spoke with said if I brought it in they could fix it again and that they MAY be able to do it at a reduced cost. Terrible read more

Do NOT go to this repair shop EVER!!!! What a rip off!! They ripped off my 86 year old mother yesterday. They also got her very upset telling her the car needs $900.00 worth of work done. I am sure they are rolling on the floor laughing that they ripped off an 86 year old woman. read more
