One year old Tucson was brought in for an oil change per the warranty requirements. Service tried to push a $507 "brake cleaning" service for a car with 14000 miles on it. I have contacted the manufacturer and they tell me this is NOT a service they promote. Clearly this was a money grab and an attempt to upsell an owner not familiar with car service. Reminds me of the 60 Minute expose' when the service tech squirts oil under the engine and claims dire consequences if not serviced. I contacted Hyundai and asked that if this cleaning is needed is it a design flaw in the brakes that warrants a recall. Watch out with this dealer. read more

Although we all know that this is a terrible time to buy a new car some unexpected circumstances made it necessary for me to do so. Since Joe Collie had treated me well in my last purchase I contacted him in my search for a new Elantra. As with almost all dealerships inventory was extremely low, and because I needed a car immediately I was forced to purchase one that I perhaps would not otherwise have done. And of course I had to pay quite a bit more than I was planning to due to the general automotive climate. I realize that this is not the fault of Irwins and I feel that I got as good - or better - a deal from them as I would have from anyone else. As previously, Joe was friendly, low key, knowledgeable and upfront, as well as quite funny. As I said, perhaps this vehicle would not ordinarily have been my first choice but I am very happy with it and am growing to really love it! Sold a car with a rusted, leaky brake line to my kid brother; when confronted on how they could let that car pass inspection and sell it like that, they said that it must have happened in the few weeks he had the car. Rust, in a few weeks. Nice. After the repair, he had to dig his car out of the snow that had fallen in the single day it was on the lot--but don't worry, all the for-sale cars on the lot were totally cleaned off and sparkly, ready to take advantage of the next first-time buyer they see! read more

My wife and I came up to Laconia for a few days R&R and on our second day, had a low tire pressure warning light come on as we started our trek. It stayed on after adding air. Googled and found Irwin nearby and when I arrived, talked with a few guys who were welcoming and understanding. I purchased a car this August from Irwin Hyundai. Upon first interest in the vehicle, I was told it needed work done by the service department. Even though it was put for sale already on the website and on the sales lot. I waited about a week before I could test drive it. Then when I was told the work was done and I could come in to test drive the car, the vehicle was still making the same rear noises and needed to be looked at once again, prolonging the wait time even longer. Days later, it was communicated with me that it was all ready to go and I could come in to finally purchase the car. At this point, I had been driving back and forth from Boston to Irwin's multiple times. As I sat down to finalize paperwork, I was then told that Irwin's still owed money on the payout of the car. Picture this, they put a car out for sale that they legally did not even own. Hence, Irwin's did not have the title because of it. This went on for weeks, I was told the title was being sent overnight and it never came. I made multiple phone calls to sales and to the title department myself. I was treated very poorly by the initial title clerk. This extremely unprofessional woman literally told me that she was "leaving early" that day, so she didn't really know what I wanted her to do. It wasn't her problem. She acted as if she could care less. She went on to lie that she called the bank to overnight the title, it came two weeks later... Finally, the payout was sent and the title arrived. Then, I noticed a piece on the rear wiper blade was missing and the bolt underneath was corroded. My sales associate assured me that he would send it to me via mail, which he never did. I even reached out several times through email and sent him my mail address again. Every, single, interaction was like getting your teeth pulled out. It was as if you had to beg them to sell you a car. I finally purchased the car and thought that all I would need to wait for in the mail was the wiper blade piece. I figured wrong. I never realized my experience could get even more frustrating and waste more of my time, more of my money and mean more trips back to NH (a 2 hour drive each way). My check engine light came on and it was not able to get inspected in the state of MA. This was only FIVE DAYS AFTER I BOUGHT IT. So, I brought it to Irwin's service and after several hours they determined it was an emissions leak. They needed to order a part. You would have thought they would have caught this 5 days earlier when they said my car was good-to-go...this meant going back to Boston for work just to come back up a few days later when the part came in. (I was also told by the inspection station in MA that my tires needed to be replaced by November. They were almost not passable for inspection. Irwin's denied this claim, of course.) I thought this would be the final thing I needed to come in for. As it was getting worked on, I was called by the service department about an hour in and told that the technician accidentally knocked over my gas tank and as he went to catch it, he broke my fuel pump. As you can imagine, this meant they needed to order a new part and I would not have my car back for days. I was given a loaner car, but this did not help me when I needed to park in Boston with a city parking permit and MA license plates that was assigned to my specific car. I couldn't even park at my job with this car because my workplace also requires my cars permit to park. The disappointments are unfortunately not done. I called the bank that I got my loan from for the car to set up payments. They told me that Irwin's never sent in my financial paperwork after my purchase. At this point, I've had the car for weeks. They have absolutely no record of me in their system. Oh and at this point, this hadn't heard back about the wiper piece yet either... I was very excited to buy this vehicle and was also happy to be supporting a local business in the Lakes Region, as I grew up in Meredith. But unfortunately, this has been made the worst experience of my life on any purchase I have ever made. You thought that was it? Oh no... Wait for it... I go to pick up my car thinking I'm finally done with these people. The service manager says something along the lines of, " this car is absolutely all fixed and now safe to drive. I even had a master technician check over it again." About an hour down 93 south I had all these people flying by my waving and flagging me down erratically. I start smelling gas as I quickly stop my car off in the breakdown lane. The man flagging me down risks his safety to stop and tell me to get out of my car because my gas tank blew and was spraying gas for about 100 yards. DOT stayed with me for 2.5 hours so we didn't get struck by distracted drivers as it grew dark out. Irwin's was not willing to give me a loaner car on the first call. Bought a new Hyundai Dec. 18 from these people. Cash Sale!!! This is my 3rd vehicle purchased from Irwin. All CASH sales. I was NOT told that they needed a Certified bank check by the Sales Mgr. or the salesman, till we were doing the paperwork. My bank is not local (Bedford), so I was told they would have to hold on to the title app for 10 business days. My 20 days temp plates expired the day the paperwork arrived. We forgot to take some floor mats that we had purchased out of the car that we traded in before they took the car away and they said they had already thrown the floor mats away. To make up for it they gave us brand new WeatherTech floor mats to match the new vehicle that we had just purchased from them. Also, the vehicles that I purchase from Irwin Hyundai, I have serviced through them. Their service team has always been great! They are fair and honest, and they even took a video of my car to show me what the issues were and what I might need to have done before next year's inspection. We bought a 2013 used dodge grand caravan on February 7th 2023. The Next morning the belt was squealing so I sent Joe a text. He said give it a few weeks because it was new. Well it never corrected itself and after a month we had to bring it in for work $1300 we had to pay for. After a week and a half we got it back and the next morning it was making another loud squealing noise. Took it to another garage and was told we need an ac pump $700 more. I reached out to Chris Irwin and they refused to help us. Update as of today not even having the van for 3 months yet we had no choice but to surrender it which means it will affect our credit as a voluntary repo for 7 years. Thank you so very much Chris Irwin. I will post every where I can about this dealership because they do not care about the customer they care about the money. Chris Kelley was my salesman and was incredibly honest, forthright, and extremely accommodating. I knew the final, out-the-door price for my new truck within two short emails to the dealership. I also knew a very good ballpark price for my trade-in. When I got to the dealership, they didn't play foolish games or "adjusted" the sale price of the new Ford F-250 nor did the final price of my trade take more than two simple back-forth (no pressure) negotiation. HOWEVER!! I dont ask for much- i just want questions answered as for what they have, what they offer etc etc- sounds easy? I bought a car here back in 2014 went couple days ago to trade it in and they made it seem like it was going to happen. I test drove the vehicle. Filled all the paperwork out. Mind you this process took close to 4 hours. For them to tell me it's not going to happen. It was complete chaos in there. I called Irwin hyundai over a week ago to make an appointment for my car, Due to a recall. The man who made my appointment wasn't the most friendliness man and told me my appointment to my car would take 1/2 hour. At that time, I needed an earlier appointment. I called Somersworth immediately after. The man who I talked with was super friendly and asked me the time I wanted. I said 4pm on Wednesday. The gentleman said I am sorry that won't work, we need 1 hour and a 1/2 to conduct this test. That was very interesting that one place said 1/2 and the other said 1 1/2. Two totally different times. WHAT IS ONE TO BELIEVE? I called back on the same day, within the hour of the first initial call and talked with a female. I gave her the rundown. (She obviously knew who I was, cause she rattled off the make of my car) After I spewed off my issue, she then says to me...I will transfer your call. I said no, I will not be Transfered pass the message on. I am canceling the appointment. Well low in behold. This am I woke up to a text message and I still have this appointment. This is what is wrong with this world today. Nobody knows the proper way to communicate. Why does one have to repeat the same story over and over, it's frustrating. What happened to true customer service? If your girl is answering for Irwin Toyota or Irwin hyundai, this message should have been passed regardless. read more

I am very disappointed with the service department and they have probably turned me off from Toyota's and I will never purchase anything from an Irwin establishment. Gave me a quote for $15000 to repair a 10 year old pickup. I had it into 2 other shops for oil and an alignment respectively and neither mentioned any of the suspension or brake issues, or my transmission pan and "ATF warmer" leaking or damp. I feel this was a tactic to get me to trade in on a new truck, I had it towed to a reputable shop that will perform the work on what they find wrong. But No Irwin shop or dealer will ever get my business again. read more

Put money down on a used car after looking at their website specs saying it came with full transferable warranty and sales person confirmed. After calling Kia and finding out that was not the case. Went back to dealer to have them pay for the additional warranty seeing they told me it had and they would not do it. The sales people either don't know about the cars they are selling or they were just trying to pull a fast one I'm going with pulling a fast one. They wanted me to buy the extra $2300 warranty even though it was on the website and I got confirmation from sales person. So I guess one can not trust the website or the staff. This place is the worst! The most unethical dealer I have ever used! I bought a used Hyundai and 3 weeks later the rear quarter started to rot. every time I bring it in it is never fixed it is something not covered by the $2500 extended warranty. The bodyshop is even worse,I was quoted $2400 for a rear quarter replacement or a $1200 cut out the section and replace a area above the wheel well. I freaked out due to working in auto body in the past. Due to the age of the car and the slight surface rust all I wanted was a sandblasting and a repair that would last a while. I called Chris Irwin and he returned my call and I reviewed the estimates and talked to him about my thoughts he said he would call the body shop manager. He returned my call and could do it for $400 the way i wanted to do it. What pissed me off is how many older people go there and get screwed do to not knowing things such a bodywork or mechanics. Then I bring it to the union ave dealer ship to look into a few transmission problems once again it was maintenance a tranny flush $250 I went up the street and it was over a $100 cheaper. They push price matching but why would i give them the work when the honest guy is being fair! 4 years ago we had our 2009 RAV-4 inspected they stated the water pump needed to be replaced.Well I ended up totaling the Toyota 3 weeks ago and it had 90K more miles since we were told to replaced the water pump and it still had the original water pump! Why do I drive to Laconia instead of using my local Hyundai store? Nothing against my local store, but they're nothing special. Bought 4 new cars there. When we had problems with 2 of them, they basically did the minimum, which I expected. I bought a used Hyundai from Adham Darwish at Irwin Hyundai a couple of years ago and had a problem. Again, I expected the minimum. Instead, I was completely blown away. Not only do you get a great deal, a pleasant experience, and friendly environment ,but I learned that they will go the extra mile if they can to satisfy you AFTER the sale, and that means a lot to me. When I wanted a new Hyundai, it was easy - call Adham! The car was waiting for me, the experience was painless, and I know if I have a problem, if Irwin's can't help me, nobody can! I was very pleased with my experience at Irwin Hyundai. My wife and myself are from New York City and we were visiting my parents in New Hampshire for the week. We were telling them about our interest in possibly buying a car when we got back home to NY and they suggested instead to take a look in NH. I did some research online and then I came across Irwin Hyundai and decided to go and possibly test drive a car. When we got there we were helped by Joe Collie. I cannot say enough good things about the service we received from him. He was very polite and answered all of our questions and when we test drove the Hyundai Sonata and liked it, he gave us a very good price for the car. We decided to buy it right there and then. We then had him take a look at our 2007 Toyota Yaris to value it for a trade in and he gave us a very fair price for that. The whole process was very smooth and hassle free. After the deal was done and we were given the keys, Joe spent another 15-20 minutes with us to make sure we understood how to use all of the cars features and everything. Being from NYC I know sometimes the car dealers around here tend to be very pushy, manipulative and always try to rip you off. It was the exact opposite at Irwin as they are the kind of business that wants to do the right thing for their customers and not just squeeze every possible dollar out of them.
