Sal's Italian Ice is some of the best Italian Ice I've ever had. Whenever I'm in Sanford, I love to stop by! They have many choices and they are super hospitable and friendly. Unfortunately they had run out of mango! But, they have quite a number of choices, so I found other tropical flavors that go well with the ice cream. The large gelati is under $7 and the portion is huge! I was really happy to cool down with this treat as summer is in full swing! The pineapple was good, but I really loved the coconut and passion fruit! They also offer traditional ice cream, but I always stick with the italian ice. The location is in a bit of a high traffic area, but you can go on the street behind Walgreens and go down, turn right and turn right into Sal's. Hope you love Sal's as much as I do! read more

Me and my family visit Sals regularly. The ice cream is so good. Me and my daughter get the swirl (chocolate and vanilla) and my husband gets a large vanilla with extra hot fudge. We spend like $20 each time on one small and two large soft serves in a cup. It's a drive through but they're fast. You can also try flavors if you want just ask! Although I have a serious sweet tooth, I try to stay away from ice cream and milkshakes as much as possible. It's not that I don't love these wonderful treats, it's just that I try to keep this gut in check! However, it's good to know that when I do get the itch, I can now hit up Sal's which is really close to where I live. The "single scoop" of cookie dough was huge and tasted great. I could swear it had more flavor than all the other times I've had this flavor at other places. And don't roll your eyes, but my only complaint was that there were so many chocolate chip and cookie dough pieces! The strawberry shortcake was also excellent. It had actual pieces of cake and real strawberry swirls! Both were really good. The other great thing about Sal's is their prices. To pay about $7 for both was a shock to me since I had went to the nearby Dairy Queen a couple times and spent almost that much for just myself. I had a very disgusting encounter with one of the managers at the establishment. My mother and I decided to bring my nieces to this so-called "Family Establishment" just to be harassed with vulgar language in front of two little girls. This was unacceptable so I decided to call and was told to go "F*ck myself" and was hung up on. There was no use of vulgar language used upon our side nor any disrespect. My girls love the place. We drive through once per week after school for great ice cream. But today was different. Attendant Keyianna was rude to us. Made us feel like we were wasting her time. At one point, my girl hesitated on what she wanted to order and Keyianna shut the window on us. I guess she went to check her phone or whatever. Apparently coming here on a Friday evening 8pm is a horrible choice. Normally we're greeted by friendly and welcoming staff... tonight, the lady was smacking her gum and clearly in a horrible mood. Sal's a little Drive thru spot located just on 17-92. It's pretty unique considering those no place like it in the area. Okay, first off I'll try my best to not compare to their big competitor. But I will say, they were really nice and their drive-thru was quick. I also like their menu, as they offer other great deserts besides regular ice cream, Italian ice and gelatis. I had their Sundaes long ago and they were great and their shakes made my kids happy so that's a good thing. This time I ordered a Pina colada gelati and it was just umm, okay. This is my first time having a five star experience at a business followed by a one star experience. I am so appalled and disappointed in the service I was (not) provided. My husband and I frequented this place when we lived in Sanford. We recently moved to Longwood so we haven't visited in about a month. We were in the Sanford area and made sure to make enough time to get there on a Sunday before 9. We parked in the drive thru at 8:55. Not even a minute after the young male employee walked out and said 'unfortunately the car in front of you is going to be the last car of the night.' I pointed out that it was 8:55 and he said 'it is?' looked at his phone then said 'hold on' and went back inside. We sat in the drive thru and he did not come back out so I figured we were in the clear. There was another car that pulled behind me in the drive thru a couple minutes later and no one came out and said anything to them. The passenger in the car behind me hopped out a minute later and waited by the walkup window and was served a couple minutes after. As soon as she was served, the man she was with left the drive thru and parked the car. We finally made it up to the window at 9:07 (we were the last ones in the drive thru) and the older gentleman emoloyee was locking the window and yelled through the window 'we're closed.' I told him that we got there at 8:55 and he argued with me saying he sent the other guy out at 8:58. After a few more verbal exchanges he said something along the lines of 'fine, what do you want?' Because of the appalling series of events that occurred before he finally decided he was going to service us, we quickly decided that Sal's did not deserve our business at that moment or from here on out. My husband and I tried to look at the positive and said it was a sign we shouldn't be eating ice cream. Unfortunately for Sal's they lost loyal customers. I hope they can learn from their poor service and improve upon it. read more

Good service, you're only allowed ONE sample per person which is very stupid if your new to the place and want to try their ice creams, it was good though. I Got blue monster and my bf got mint chip and razzle berry. He had to pay and extra $1.50 to substitute ice cream flavors mixed with a gelato. They also said they would have to charge us 27 cents for a small cup. I highly recommend just going to Jeremiah's Italian ice or somewhere else instead of dealing with bs for a ice cream. read more

This is definatley a great little place. I'm not sure how long they've been around, but they definatley get plenty of customers. I went there with my choice already planned based on their detailed website but was dissapointed to find that the flavors listed there didn't match what they actually had, so be cautious of that. I was left making a decision quickly and worried that I wouldn't like it. Well I worried for nothing as the banana gelati was yuuummmmeee! Hubby got the strawberry shortcake Sunday and couldn't finish it because there was too much of it to eat. Can you imagine that? I can't wait to go back again and try something else on the menu. Oh and for any dog lovers, the dogs get their ice cream free, afterall, without pockets, where would they put their money? ;) Just look for their sign that explains it exactly that way. My only thoughts on what could be better is more parking and somewhere to sit. They have only about 3 parking spots and two benches. The ice cream at Sal's is really good. I typically get a hot fudge sundae but the rest of the family gets cones and itialian ice. Everyone loves the flavors they have and the sundae's are really good. You basically get to add whatever toppings you would like and they are generous.
