My wife and I visited as we always try to do when we are in Mountain Home. Again we were not disappointed, just the opposite, highly satisfied with the portions and price, but even more the service! I regrettably did not get our servers name but she was awesome! Very friendly, courteous and quick even though they were crowded. Attentive and maintained a positive spirit while ensuring we were taken care of. Looking forward to our next visit. Thank you again for the great experience. Feliz Navidad.

The sauce they pour over everything is gross and I scraped most of it off my food. All the food tasted exactly the same.

The good. was the service. Our waitress was friendly and checked on us frequently, she didn't give her name or I would give her a shout out. The margarita was also very tasty. The food is not good. The beef was all the same in every dish, tacos, enchiladas, and the burrito. They all tasted exactly the same. They poured red sauce over everything even the tamale! There should not be a sauce on the tamale ever! The sauce they pour over everything is frankly awful! My mom got same combo dish only with a cheese sauce.... They poured that sauce over her tamale also! Wrong wrong wrong. I tasted that sauce and it was bland as can be. Will not be going back.

Skip the taco combo (bottom) & go for the carnitas platter (top) to make your own - you won't regret it!

Spending most of our time in small rural towns, we've haven't had many opportunities to get our Mexican food fix. In Mountain Home, Arkansas we decided to try Salsa's Grill. First impressions were positive: Atmosphere was festive. Restaurant was fairly packed. Service quick and friendly - the hosted even hurried to have a booth bussed for us, because after all that driving I just wanted to be comfortable. The chips, salsa & guacamole were fresh & tasty. As for our entrees, we have mixed reviews. Sadly, I was pretty disappointed with my taco - it tasted like a pre-made store-bought taco shell & the filling was just okay. I didn't finish it. The enchilada was much better, but I was really hoping for an outstanding taco. The beans and rice, however, were authentic, homemade & definitely scratched my craving. The real winner was what my husband ordered: Carnitas dinner plate with fresh tortillas, beans and rice. I cannot put into words just how delicious the meat was. Wow! Cooked to perfection - SO tender & SO much flavor! I took one bite of it and couldn't hide my groan of approval. Without even having to ask (because he knows me so well & because he's the give-the-shirt-off-his-back kind of guy, my husband began to doctor up a taco of my very own, from his plate. How I WISH this restaurant was in my neck of the woods...I'd eat these at LEAST once a week! So where one taco may have crashed and burned, the other came out the hero & saved the day. Get the Carnitas! You won't be disappointed!

Taste like canned sauce on everything with beef no other ingredient. Not happy with service or food.

Great food. Awesome a la carte menu. Fast friendly service. Couldn't ask for more driving through this small AR town.

Our dinners there have always been great! Service is good too…read more Certainly a traditional Mexican food restaurant. Unlike a busier establishment not too far away called, Salsas Grill, that is 100% Gringo Mexi-Southern food with added sugar and gravy which we did not like. Salsa's gives huge quantity, but I'd rather have quality that is more authentic Mexican cuisine like at El Charro, and I never leave hungry from El Charro anyways! We do ask for El Charro's spicy salsa so that we can blend it in with their standard salsa. My son usually asks for their chili verde in some form like nacho, enchilada, or burrito, and I like it very much too. I usually try to order their special plate with their Mexican braised beef and a Mexican cheese blend, but I can get in a soft taco platter as well. Their stewed or braised beef and pork items are excellent, you can't go wrong for tenderness and flavor. Warning: I've not ordered anything with chicken, so order that at your own risk. I appreciate good Mexican restaurants like El Charro, and I've eaten at a lot of excellent Mexican food places having lived over 3 decades in Phoenix, AZ and over 3 decades in California (Lompoc, Santa Barbara, Ventura and Oxnard). I spent about a year in Kansas City, Kansas on corporate expenses so I ate out all the time. I tried almost every BBQ joint there and in Martin City. Some really good and some really bad BBQ, but I've always been a foodie and home cook since I was a child.

Servers check periodicallly to make sure you are pleased or if you need anything. Great food at reasonable price. We always order the chile verde or enchiladas verdes--enough to eat there and take home too.
