    Mahi Mahi ceviche

Visiting from NY, Salt Plage was suggest a place to go by multiple people on island. The place has a lot of history and is beautiful. This review is mostly for the food. The drinks were delicious and the decor of this place was gorgeous. Would highly suggest coming here for those two things. Sunset here was breathtaking. Also want to give a shout out to the live musicians, AMAZING! The food was just disappointing. I ordered the Mahi Mahi ceviche as the fish options were lacking but ceviche on an Caribbean island....should be a no brainer. The ceviche came out tasting a bit off and the fish was seared slightly instead of being raw and brined. It was just a weird overall dish.

What an amazing atmosphere!! We stayed at the Marriott and ventured down the Salt Plage on our last night for the sunset views. The taxi ride was a little pricey but well worth it. We got there about an hour before sunset because I wasn't sure if it would be busy. There were a few people hanging out on the dock but as time went on it started to fill up for dinner. They also had two guys playing steel pan drums that added some pretty serene ambiance. Later in the night it switched to a DJ. The whole place is outdoors, nothing is covered so you really have to cross your fingers for the weather. Kind of crazy but also really cool. There are a couple different seating areas - the bar, the long dock, and the main seating area overlooking the water with low tables, high tops and booths. We snagged a spot in the corner on one of the lounge style couches. It was a nice way to relax and hang out instead of sitting at a dinner table. They had a few beers on tap that my husband ordered and I went for the rose which was very refreshing and felt appropriate for watching the sunset. For dinner we shared the lobster quesadilla and the Wagyu burger. The quesadilla was more filling than I thought and there was a lot of lobster chunks. I really like the burger too but my husband wasn't a fan of the aioli on it. The menu isn't very big but has an American/island theme. Highly recommend this place if you are visiting St. Kitts.

Salt Plage is the best place to watch the sunsets! Arrive early to get a table right by the water. The lobster dinners are amazing and so are the drinks. Great atmosphere with live music. Loved seeing all the fish jump out of the water right after sunset.

Super convenient spot just outside the end of the pier from the cruise ships. We stopped in after…read moreour excursion that included an hour at a restaurant on the beach but offered no food to purchase (weird!). When we walked in they handed us 2 menus and pointed to the stairs. There's a narrow catwalk with a few deuces along the windows. Service was quick (by Caribbean standards ), with drinks delivered promptly, even during a busy lunch rush. There is no rum punch on the menu but they have it and it's refreshingly delicious. My husband ordered the Diablo cocktail - also yummy! I read that the conch fritters were great - I'm not sure I'd say "great." They are flat and a little dry with more a suggestion of conch flavor rather than discernible chunks of conch. Still if you've got a hankering, it's convenient and they are tasty - especially the sauce. They come with 3 in the order. Hubs ordered the fish sandwich with fries and enjoyed it although he noted the ketchup was sweeter and thinner than US style ketchup. He liked it. I ordered the pan fried (grilled) grouper that came with a home-style cole slaw and seasoned rice with a few black beans mixed in. Tartar sauce came in a squirt bottle and lemon on the side. The fish was seasoned well and priced great. I heard others around us raving about the fish and chips, too. There is a vegetarian section on their menu but I don't know how easy it would be to get anything vegan except a salad. At the end you walk up to the bar / hostess area to collect your check and pay. They take visa and Mastercard and have prices on their menu in both the local currency and US dollars. They clearly are happy to cater to cruise ship passengers! Great laid back place.

Service was good and the place wasn't very busy at all. We were immediately seated and our order taken. Sadly, for our taste, the fritters were dry and lacking of any conch flavor. We also ordered wings and they were ok. Topped the meal off with a rum punch and went back to the ship to eat. The rum punch was the best tasting item we had! Traveling the Caribbean, we've tasted much better fritters!
