The staff were very welcoming before I sat at the bar and had some tequila shots before ordering my food. I felt quite relaxed until I seen not 1 but 3 Roaches(1 big and 2 small) crawling on the bar quickly near my drink. I downed the rest of my shot and told the bartender about the roaches. I didn't want to eat the food there and they were understanding of the situation. I paid for drinks immediately after and left.. I wish I didn't see them but I had. I think that restaurant needs a thorough cleaning and inspection. That was possibly my last and only time going there. read more

Assembly row does it again! I wanted to make sure to stop by assembly while visiting family and I'm always amazed by how much they are expanding. This place is a great addition! Great food, lovely drinks, and amazing service- you don't need to go to the seaport or downtown for elevated casual dining. We made reservations ahead of time on a Sunday at 1:30. It's definitely less busy inside the restaurant at this time, but parking and everything outside the restaurant was still Very busy! I opted for a Caesar salad with chicken, my boyfriend got the blue cheese salad with steak- SO GOOD! And my friends got salads, a flat bread, and a turkey club. Everything tasted really fresh and well made. I love the options for mimosas. I'm not really a fan of orange juice. And they had some mock tail options for my friend. Had a very nice dinner here while staying at The Row Hotel nearby. Started off with a tasty margarita, with a generous proportion of tequila, as well as the Salt + Stone Crostini, which was excellent (the whipped burrata was especially heavenly). I got the Southwest Chopped Chicken Salad, which tasted very fresh and was presented beautifully, but I found the chicken slightly dry, and the dressing was a bit too light in flavor for my taste. My wife got the Tuna Nicoise Salad, which was great -- the tuna was really tender and perfectly seared. My daughter got the Mac & Cheese, which was really good as well -- not too salty (and the cheese was perfect to make my chicken taste a little juicier). This place has a great vibe! Atmosphere is very nice. Arrived 20 minutes early at 440 for a 5 pm reservation and able to be seated. Unfortunately the hostess sat us on the very last table in an empty restaurant. We asked to be moved as no one and I mean no one was there. They moved us up diagonally one table. Our server was good but intentionally did not come and ask for an order until "happy hour" was over. The drinks were very good and the food was amazing. I came here for dinner on a Friday night and had a bit of a mixed experience. The place itself is beautiful. I loved the finishes, decor, and the vibe, but the music was too loud. I can be a fan of loud music at dinner, if it's done well, but I found myself trying to shout across the table and consistently repeating myself which became annoying and took away from the experience. The service I also thought was OK. Our server was nice but didn't attempt to go above and beyond by any means and we struggled to track him down when it was time to get the check. For food and drink, we started off with the margarita flight. It was fun to try, but the box it came with didn't work very well (the drinks kept tipping over) and it took up too much space on the table, so we decided to ditch that. We then tried the tuna and salmon dishes. The Brie appetizer I was looking forward to was okay but I hate when places leave the rind/wrapper and the cheese doesn't fully melt down. The big letdown was the sesame crusted tuna. We both ordered it because it was the most appealing thing on the menu. They obliterated the flavor of the tuna with this salty teriyaki sauce covering 90% of the slices. And what wasn't covered in the teriyaki sauce had an overpowering wasabi sauce on it. We were both sorely disappointed. My strawberry drink wasn't good either. Service was decent. read more

The food is very good. Is it and the service as good as the price calls god? In many cases no. But the ambience and drinks certainly make up for most of that. The outdoor seating is enclosed and adorable, I loved the decor with string lights and the inside is just as beautiful. We got 2 18oz beers for $9 a piece which was an awesome deal! We had such a tough time deciding between the food. Ended up getting the Chef's burger and cajun chicken sandwich. They were both amazing and the portions were extremely generous. Dangerously Misleading "Dog Menu" - $860 ER Vet Bill I am absolutely horrified by our experience at Salt + Stone. We chose it specifically because it claimed to offer a "pooch-friendly" menu. I ordered the "The Barkin Burger" for my healthy, 2-year-old, 15-pound pup -- expecting it to be safe and thoughtfully prepared. After feeding him a portion (not even the whole thing), he developed severe, bloody diarrhea. It was so alarming we had to rush him to the emergency vet. The diagnosis: acute gastrointestinal distress, likely from something he ingested. This is a dog with no recent history of GI issues. He's healthy, active, and has never reacted like this to human food before. We were handed an $860 vet bill and a dog in severe pain -- all from trusting this place's supposed pet-friendly option. There was no detailed indication of what was in the burger or bun, and clearly no veterinary input or quality control involved. The food for humans? Mediocre. The service? Unremarkable. But most importantly: DO NOT order anything off their dog menu. It is not safe. If you care about your pet's health, avoid this place at all costs. They should not be marketing to pet owners without proper food safety standards in place. Shameful. read more

Literally the best burgers ever!! The ambiance is cool given the large space, wrap-around bar, and dim but intentional lighting. The burger slid through our hands and it made a sloppy mess but that was well worth it as all of the ingredients felt like it melted in your mouth. Terrible Experience - Not Recommended We had a very disappointing dinner tonight. From the moment we arrived, the staff were rude and inflexible. We had a reservation for 7 people and simply asked to add a high chair for one of our kids--they refused in a curt manner, saying they "couldn't change the reservation." The food was just as bad. Everything tasted overly sweet, including the steak, salad, onion soup, and even the flatbread. It was like sugar had been added to every dish. While we were still eating, the waiters came over with takeout boxes and started pressuring us to pack our food. Just 10 minutes later, they asked us to leave to make room for another reservation--despite at least three empty tables in sight. We spent $400 for 8 people (without alcohol), and it was absolutely not worth it. The food was poor, the service was rude and pushy, and the overall experience was extremely disappointing. Salt + Stone just opened in Assembly, replacing Midici. I was surprised at how much hype the restaurant was getting immediately online because Midici was kinda low key. So I was excited to see what the hype was about. I will say that the ambience was great. We went here on a Friday night for dinner, it was busy but we got seats at the bar relatively quickly and the staff was very helpful. The space itself is nice too. However, the food was solidly okay. I wasn't blown away by anything but I wasn't mad at anything either. We got oysters to start. I will say they were all really fresh and tasted good. It was weird that the servers didn't tell us which oysters were which, so we were kinda just guessing the varieties. We got a mushroom truffle flatbread and the bolognese. The flatbread itself was nice, I liked the crust. However, everything else was... fine. I was a little disappointed that it was just regular button mushrooms but it tasted good. The bolognese was again, fine. It's just one of those meals that I probably won't remember. I did like the bar seating and think it would be a fun, low key place to watch a game at their bar without being overwhelmed at a real sports bar. A welcoming addition in Assembly Row! This is a perfect place for a nice dinner and/or drinks. The décor was modern and upscale, but they also have TVs at the bar so you can sit there to enjoy the games. Most importantly, the food and service were superb! Here's my review on the food: Oysters ($3/each) Loved these oysters! They were large and plump! They came with two sauces: cocktail and mignonette. Tuna Poke Stack ($18) A must-get appetizer! The tuna was fresh, enhanced by the sesame oil and soy sauce marinade and balanced out by the richness of the avocado. The crispy wonton was the perfect vessel and delivered each refreshing bite that burst with umami. Fire Roasted Salmon ($24) Well composed and flawlessly executed dish. The salmon was cooked to perfection - crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside. The spicy cilantro cream paired perfectly with the salmon, as well as the crispy asparagus and smashed potatoes. Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna ($24) A bit of a miss on the ahi tuna - it was a bit bland and lacked the seared crust. Though the tomatoes and cucumber salad was good, we wished the ahi tuna had more flavor and sear on the outside. Besides the food, this place also served delicious cocktails. If you prefer sweet drinks, you'd definitely enjoy Wakey Wakey ($15) and Talk Tiki To Me ($14). I've been here for both brunch and dinner now and both experiences have been great! Most recently I came for brunch on Father's Day. They offered a breakfast and lunch menu and there was plenty to choose from. My boyfriend and I shared the breakfast flatbread and the breakfast poutine. Both were delicious! The breakfast flatbread was so yummy~ the dough had such a great flavor and texture. Highly recommend! The poutine was good as well just heavy. I loved the tater tots. I would definitely recommend both of these. We also ordered a banana foster French toast to share for the table. This was to die for! SO good! It had an amazing flavor and nice crunchy edges. I would 100% come back for this. It's just very sweet~ so a good breakfast dessert to share! The ambiance and vibes were chic and trendy. Reminded me of something like an Earls. Such a great addition to Assembly! A welcome upgrade to Midici, which used to be in this space and was pretty mediocre at best. The new restaurant is beautiful and has a huge bar that wraps throughout with lots of TVs, it would be a great spot to catch a game and still have a pretty elevated meal. I stopped by on a Friday night and the place was completely full, but we had a reservation and were still seated as soon as we walked in. I started out with the Turning Stones cocktail which was stunning and super tropical, but wayyy too sweet for my taste. I wouldn't order it again but if you're into that sort of drink I'm sure it's great. Moved onto food next and tried the Mango Habanero wings (huge portion!) followed by the lobster ravioli and I was so impressed with both. My boyfriend ordered the burger cooked medium and unfortunately it was way too rare when it first came out. Our server was quick to swap it out with a new one, which was perfect and so juicy and flavorful, and even comp'd it on the check. I can't say enough good things about the service and how the staff handled the whole thing! I'll definitely be back to try the rest of the menu and sit in their massive outdoor section. This is our first time here at Salt and Stone. I am sure it will NOT be our last time. The young ladies were very nice and helpful when we called to ask about the seating arrangements. Certainly no attitude. Just wanting to answer our questions and guide us. When we arrived all young ladies were very welcoming. Selam with her lovely smile. FabiIola and Stephanie were also welcoming and treated us perfectly. Fernando our waiter was a pleasure and did a great professional job. In general the staff were very courteous and let me walk past, stepping aside for me. The ambiance is very comforting and inviting. Sitting at the high tops was not a problem at all. There four adults and two children in our party. My grandson is a vegetarian. He had lots of good choices and enjoyed everything. My granddaughter has a good foodie appetite. I jad the New England clam chowder which might be the best ever! The raw clams were VERY fresh and I loved them. The chicken wings were cooked to perfection. My wife had the nachos, which she compared very favorably with those from her favorite in Los Angeles. Our son-in law had the BLT and said he liked it a lot. Our daughter had the salmon ball . She ate it all and really loved it. Our grand daughter ate from everyone's plates. The staff rewarded us with strawberry shortcake with ice cream. It was delicious. Plus a creme brûlée. I tried the tuna poke stack and oysters and my friend got the wedge salad. Oysters (there was only one kind) and poke stack was good, but the wontons were stale. Friend liked the wedge and veggies looked fresh. Our server was a bit slow and missed on our drinks a couple times - they forgot our wine and when my friend asked for plain tea like an English Breakfast she received Chai. I also tried their version of a Bloody Mary and it was very sour, I couldn't finish it. Wasn't bad experience overall, but not great or memorable. Writing a review after my second time visiting Salt and Stone. During my last visit, it was a sunny but breezy day and the restaurant had outdoor seating with a covering, indoor seating next to large windows that were open, and other seating in the back without the window open. Since the person who seated us did not understand the ask to sit next to a window in the back, my guest and I sat wherever. My hope was that the rest of the visit wasn't filled with a comprehension challenge. The waiter came over and collected our drink orders, followed by our appetizers, and entrees. The appetizers were delicious - baked brie and rosemary sea salt chicken wings. For an entree, we had the fire roasted salmon accompanied with potatoes and asparagus (salmon and potatoes were overly cooked, as was the asparagus, which I would never try again). We also ordered the truffle flat bread which the truffle wasn't melted well. The server we had was wonderful but the food was a 6.5/10. read more

Came here after staying at the new assembly row hotel for a quick dinner. It was surprisingly really good! We started with the meat and cheese board- which although the presentation was a bit strange (cheese came in chunks, you had to cut yourself), it was really good with some decent types of cheese. Although meat ONLY included pepperoni or something similar & prosciutto! So 2 meats but 5 cheeses? There was prosciutto, which was amazing as well as: Brie, Gouda, & blue cheese however 4 crostini's was NOT enough for all the meat and cheese. There were also some delicious jams & honeys as well as walnuts. YUM! Atmosphere was pretty trendy, and I liked the overall vibe they had there, but it was definitely loud and definitely had more of a trendy feel to it. Doesn't seem to have a kid friendly atmosphere but they had a good kids menu with very reasonable prices and good "kids" choices so that definitely counts as kid friendly in my book! Although I believe my son was the only kid in the place! Service was meh, waitress had no personality what so ever, but she was nice, so I suppose it is better then being rude. I wouldn't say she was attentive but she did come to check on us at least once, or maybe she didn't, service was not very memorable but we always tip at least 20%! I got the S&S Burger which was huge but delicious! Definitely some quality ingredients/fresh ingredients! It came out with a knife sticking right out of it- which my 7 year old son enjoyed/got a kick kick out of it. My son got some pasta with butter from the kids menu and the portion size was huge! My friend got the baked Mac and cheese which looked and tasted delicious but said the chicken was a bit skimped. My husband and I came to this place because we were looking for a "nice-but-not-over-the-top" dinner spot prior to a movie. I was really delighted that this place ended up being a perfect date night spot. Let me start by saying that the service was memorably friendly and extremely attentive. I love when the service actually stands out as a highlight of the experience, and that was absolutely the case here. It really elevated the experience and made it feel like even more of a special dinner spot. They are known for their cocktail menu here and I loved that the waitress was able to suggest three of the cocktails that can be made as mocktail versions. The Winter Solstice was what I chose - a tasty combination of grapefruit and ginger that elevated the drink above the 'fruit juice' trap that many mocktails seem to fall into. Great presentation as well. We got the rosemary sea salt wings as an appetizer to share - wonderful! Even though we didn't choose to add an extra glaze, they were plenty flavorful on their own. My husband raved about his French onion soup as well. For my main dish, I got the scallops over corn and black bean salsa, with cilantro cream sauce. I ordered this dish because I love scallops, even though I generally dislike heavy cilantro flavoring - but thankfully the cilantro cream sauce was not overpowering at all and had just the right amount of flavor to it. The salsa was a little oily but otherwise tasty. And the scallops were so massive that I had trouble finishing them all!
