    Matcha latte
    Claire C.

This place is so cute!! First time trying it while visiting my brother in Portland. He got the Salt Yard signature latte with caramel which was EXTREMELY sweet.... Not for me but if you like caramel it might be worth a try. I got the honey lavender latte which was okay - honestly tasted mostly like milk and lavender. My mom got the matcha latte which I thought was nice. Overall, this is a cute spot and the vibes are amazing!! Prob won't be back for the coffee but maybe I'd try the food next time.

Pastry selection is great, GF options as well

The BEST sea salt latte I've ever had. The service here is phenomenal, pastries are amazing. My fav coffee in downtown Portland in general! Beautiful interior and lots of seating- even a fire place!

Coffee, lemonade, and 2 chocolate croissants to go!

Lovely cafe in the Canopy Portland Waterfront! Bright and airy space with tons of seating. Service is quick and efficient. Nice variety of food options whether you want to sit and eat a proper breakfast, or take a pastry or something small to go. The croissants were a big hit with us. The staff kindly offered to warm them up for us, which made them even more great. Would highly recommend stopping by if you are in the area.

We all loved this wonderful brunch/ lunch place in Portland. We needed a quick brunch place before the day's adventures and landed on this place. It was very pretty inside, clean and enjoyable. We ordered at the counter and they brought it to you. We would come back again again.

Located inside the Canopy hotel, I came here for the viral Salted Caramel latte. Wow was that sweet. A bit too much for me even when I asked for it less sweet. Ambiance cute. We also did brunch. I got the eggs Benedict and asked for a side of fruit instead of the crispy potatoes, however both came out. The side of fruit was strange to me. Apples and orange slices? Normally it's mixed fruit when you ask for a side of fruit/fruit cup? Anyway, the Benedict was insanely salty and the ham was dry. Did not care for my meal. Boyfriend got the Bacon egg and cheese sandwich. He said the bread on it was a bit much. We came back to the rooftop bar later on that evening and loved the atmosphere for a drink. The brunch tho was not the best.

This coffee shop is attached to a hotel and is beyond inviting with some amazing service, food, and drinks! I came on a weekday morning for a coffee and quick bite before hitting the boats to the islands. This place is fog friendly which was great since there is no outside seating! We arrived right at opening which was nice as there was plenty of seating! Would recommend for some delicious breakfast!

A hotel restaurant that doesn't feel like one; their "all day" cafe is open from 7-2--from then on the bar/dinner menu is available. I loved the short grain rice bowl (edamame, rice, shiitake, cabbage, pickled dressing, spicy yuzu miso aioli), which I added salmon to. Genuinely delicious! I had also had an iced matcha (with oat milk, french vanilla, and lavender syrup) earlier, which was also great! Pros: great food, stellar place to work from home or have an irl meeting, small yet mighty (and healthy) menu, they partner with a lot of local growers and other local businesses! Great gender-neutral restrooms as well. Modern ambience, high ceilings, high attention to detail decor-wise Cons: The cafe closes at 2 and signage is unclear; plenty of people from outside and within the hotel were left waiting with no one to tell them that it's closed; technically, you're supporting a large hotel chain over local biz.

Delicious latte and very cool places to sit. The reason for a lower rating is 1. The eggs Benedict dish flavors were good but I was a bit surprised they didn't toast the English muffin. It brought down the dish quite a bit. 2. We got a cinnamon roll and it was served cold. We were also surprised that they didn't warm it up or at least offer. Because it was served cold it was hard and a little stale tasting. 3. Staff taking the order was a bit rude (but the bussers walking around were extremely friendly and kind). Overall I would go back but would probably only get a latte and skip the food.

Food, service & ambiance have all been amazing in the two mornings I've had breakfast here. Great lavender latte, classic breakfast the first day (phenomenal crispy potatoes), and a great oatmeal the next. Servers have been super nice and the decorations are great (especially at Christmas!).

Located street-level in the Canopy by Hilton hotel. It was a bit confusing at first regarding seating. We waited, expecting to be seated and then learned that you simply approach the kitchen counter and order. One item we ordered was the Avocado Toast with whipped ricotta, pickled asparagus, pea shoots and Calabrian chile. It was an unusual take on avocado toast. Good, but the pickled asparagus was a bit too prominent. Our other item was Bacon, Egg, and Cheese on a Croissant with Seasoned Crispy Potatoes. This entree was our favorite. Excellent thick cut bacon and an oven-warmed croissant. The potatoes were tasty. Overall, I'd rate the experience as above average for what's usually expected in hotel dining. Food was generally good, service was friendly, and the atmosphere is very modern and chic.

We went for breakfast a few days before Christmas. Great experience!

We enjoyed our breakfast at the bar with Brynn serving and tending bar. Outstanding service, excellent food, lively and fun conversation. We will visit again someday, and after seeing the hotel we may even stay there in the future. Appreciated the parking lot nearby because there was no street parking when we were there. I recommend the eggs Benedict for breakfast, by the way.

I am a Portland local, and I cannot believe I had never heard of this café before. Clearly, I have been missing out. Today I tried their signature Salt Yard Latte. The café itself was closed, but fortunately the bar area was open, so I ordered from there. From what I could see, it is a cozy little spot with very nice décor, and I already plan to return for breakfast and lunch soon. The latte was excellent, truly a 10 out of 10. We had ours iced today, but I intend to try it hot tomorrow.

The lemon sole (fish) and octopus carpaccio (not pictured) were filled with flavor! The pork belly was very underwhelming and I would not order again. The waiter said 2-4 plates per person. I recommend starting on the lower end and adding additional dishes based on how you're feeling. The amount of food was very different from dish to dish. For example the tuna dip had way too much bread and the pork belly was very small in size. Overall I was half impressed. I wish the staff would take a moment to announce the plate as it's placed next to you or point it out on the menu for those hard of hearing and wanting to know what they are about to enjoy. However the music, overall restaurant vibe and half the dishes exploding with flavor made my experience pleasant and I will return again knowing a bit more of what to expect and looking at photos of the menu/meal options beforehand.

What could be better than a dumpling lounge? We just went for the first time and were blown away. The ambiance of the place is unique. It feels like a chic timeless but retro speakeasy with the fun atmosphere of a tiki bar. Dark red and black colors, floral art, Art Deco chandeliers, lacquered tables, kitsch and fun cheetah lamps and statues. It immediately put a smile on our faces. The food is also unique. Dim sum for dinner but with more sophisticated twists and better quality than you'll find in most Chinatowns. You start by getting a dish with three different dipping sauces for the dumplings. The hot and sour soup was rich in peanut flavor, filled with tofu, mushrooms, and seaweed, with a cumulative little kick of spiciness. It was a great start and a major cut above anything we've ever had in a Chinese restaurant. The sichuan cucumber salad are Chinese cucumbers innovatively cut into a spiral like a slinky or coil spring. You pick them up with chopsticks and they spring up and down! Served in a horseradish and pepper coulis, they had a spicy kick. Don't miss the mojo baby corn. It's grilled, crispy, and addictive. You'll want a bucket of it when watching a movie. Steamed soup dumplings are filled with ham or prosciutto, a nicely salty and meaty twist on the standard ones. Steamed mushroom and truffle dumplings are probably the closest to traditional dim sum, rich, flavorful, and packed with shrooms. Crab and lobster lucky bags were deep fried wontons filled with a mix of ground lobster and crab, on a bed of crème fraiche with scallions. A great contrast with the crispy salty shell and soft filling! Our favorite was the sesame beef bao. They look like the traditional sesame balls in Chinese restaurants, crispy on the outside, pillowy soft inside but filled with brisket! They were mouth wateringly delicious! There was a selection of larger entrée plates that looked good (fried rice, lo mein, crispy chicken) that we didn't try but will next time. The drink menu was three pages long. Every kind of creative cocktail you can imagine, a long list of wines and sparking drinks, at prices from reasonable to 'special occasion.' For the atmosphere and ambiance, it seemed like cocktails or sparkling wine went best. All the staff and the manager couldn't have been nicer and more welcoming. They made us feel like old friends. Their warmth was genuine, we were sincerely touched by their friendliness. We were smiling and laughing the whole time, and amazed at how delicious the food was. It's unique. It's so much more than just a delicious meal. Going here is truly an experience, one that we'll remember for a long time and want to repeat often. It's an incredibly special place, and you feel special being here. You won't find a place like this outside of New York City, but here it is in Portland. We're going to go back often and regularly.

I wouldn't recommend Lucky Cheetah…read more The aesthetics, atmosphere, and cocktails were all great, and I can see why the place is popular. Unfortunately, the service completely overshadowed the positives. The moment I walked in, I was asked if I had a reservation, which is perfectly normal. When I said no, the host gave me a look that felt very much like, "How dare you?" before telling me I was lucky they had one spot left at the bar. Oddly enough, the bar appeared mostly empty, but whatever. I was seated in what felt like the worst seat possible--tucked into a corner right next to the POS station, where servers were constantly moving back and forth picking up drinks. It wasn't exactly a comfortable or relaxing place to sit. The bartender was pleasant enough, but the overall vibe remained off the entire time. I felt less like a paying customer and more like someone they were reluctantly doing a favor for by allowing me to be there. I ordered the lobster and crab rangoon bags, which had a nice texture but were overwhelmingly salty. As soon as I placed my appetizer order, the menu was taken away, which made me feel rushed and unwelcome. The bartender also didn't check in much throughout the meal. It's a beautiful space with good drinks, but hospitality matters. Unfortunately, I left feeling unwelcome from start to finish, and I wouldn't return.
