This has been our 2 year tradition spot for our girls secret Santa! We have a friend who lives in Colville so this is our "half way point" :) The Salty dog always has such great deals! I got a clam chowder cup that came with soup and bread for $10 - their chowder was so good! The vibe is very "log cabin" but it's great for friends and family. Very small town vibes. We returned to Salty Dog and I'm happy to report it's still just as good as our previous visit! The service is great, even when they're very busy. My husband ordered the Halibut and Chips, I ordered the Chicken Caesar Wrap and my daughter had the kids burger and fries. Everything was super fresh, no complaints. Their burgers were fantastic and exactly what we were looking for. Our group got the Western Burger, Mushroom Swiss Burger, and the Blue Cheese Bacon Burger and all 3 of us agreed that all 3 were fantastic. I got onion ring and they got fries and everyone was equally impressed. Fresh, yummy food. When we first pulled up, we weren't sure what to think from the outside appearance but don't let that fool you. The inside was so cute and welcoming. Loved the environment. Loved the food. Definitely going to have to come back next time we're in town. read more

Second time we've eaten at Salty Dog Eatery and looking forward to our next visit. Tonight I had the Bacon & Blue Cheeseburger and my husband had the Sriracha burger. Both were cooked to perfection and the flavors were amazing. Blue cheese in the burger was always a head scratcher for me but it sure works, especially here! The French fries were yummy, perfectly fried and lightly salted. Digging into the raspberry cheesecake as I'm writing. Omg... So creamy and delicious. Clean interior. Love the Quonset hut. The wife and I ate here for date night as our friends recommended it. We sat at a booth and enjoyed an appetizer together of calamari, yum. Also had salads and steak and prawns, delicious. Steaks were cooked perfectly as asked. Next time we will try the fish and chips cause we read that it's cut fresh daily. Some of the best fried fish, shrimp, oysters & especially large meaty clam strips! I appreciate being able to choose a side instead of being stuck with fries all of the time. I prefer the generous serving of crunchy coleslaw or fresh green salad. Also, the garlic bread is a perfect accompaniment, unless you're afraid of butter! And the staff are warm, friendly & welcoming! Obviously, it's a good sign when the locals fill the place too! Definitely worth the short drive north! BTW they are closed on Sunday & Monday. read more

We have been meaning to go here for years. Finally did and was not disappointed. Kind of quaint place made out of a quonset hut. Decorated with wood siding and NW decor inside. Very clean. My husband had a Rueben Sandwich. He stated it was the best he had!! The meat was generous, dark rye bread tasty. I had the Cod fish snd chips. Delicious. So light and crispy. Not greasy. I was compelled to have it because of the name of the place. The food was served very hot. Yay!! They do have quite a few fish selections. Mostly fried. The french fries were superb. Yum!! One lady serving and taking orders. Very efficient and it was busy!! read more

The atmosphere is great, the staff is really nice! The food....however...was a bit dry and....well....'salty'! It was literally WAY too salty! It a place like this i expect greasy, hot and yummy..but not overly spiced. I'm an old guy so I don't eat tons of salt anyway and certainly that may be part of it but my taste buds still work pretty well and I felt a bit like a snail crawling across a pile of Morton's that day. The wait time is not too long, it is a moderately clean and well kept establishment...it is what it is...a small town diner. I WOULD recommend them because my plate might have just been an anomaly and the food itself was cooked well and there was really nothing else wrong..but that's how my one time visit went. read more

So I don't normally eat anything fried but I got a bit of a craving so I went in for dinner. I ordered the halibut and coleslaw and it was so delicious. The fish was tender and flaky, the breading just the right amount of crunch and I am sure that coleslaw was homemade. I just realized I never checked out any deserts. Oh well, next time! I think next time will be sooner than later. Thanks for a great meal. read more

Wow! I am very picky about my Fish & Chips! This place is fabulous!!! I'm from a major metropolitan city and Salty Dog eatery is the best Fish & Chips I have ever had, hands down!! This place is a good example of good service add extra value to the food and vice versa. We ordered to go and when we went in to pick them up, there was no greeting, no smile, and nothing. I didn't feel welcomed. There's an extra $3 charge for something we don't know. No explanation. Food was decent but we will probably chose somewhere else to eat. read more

Waited over 20 minutes to even take our orders or get our drinks, & Waited for over an hour, and they never started on our food, waitress with glasses was so rude , served everyone except us. Please don't waste your time, we just left after waiting for an hour and 15 minutes. Don't go here! Very unwelcoming environment, not even a "hello, how are you?" Never coming back. read more

We met family for dinner tonight at Salty Dog. We all live in Deer Park and wanted to support a local business. IT WAS SOOOOO GOOD! We had fish, oysters, clam chowder, and salad. As we were leaving, I said to my brother in law, " I think that's the best fish I have ever had!" He said, " I know. It always is!".... I have traveled the world and always loved fish. Before tonight, my favorite was in England, fresh from the North Sea. This was absolute perfection! It was better. I will be a regular for sure. read more

Food was average. Service was decent. I've been in the service industry for years and my pet peave is not clearing tables. We had a guests with us and wanted to sit and visit for a bit after our meal. The waitress visited our table 3 times after our meal was served and left dirty glasses, baskets and cutlery. Someone said that our waitress was also the owner. It's possible that she doesn't waitress often but regardless keeping tables clean is a basic. Otherwise a pleasant experience. read more

I wish I had pics of our dinner tonight at Salty Dog, but we dove in so fast to our food! Everything was absolutely delicious! We split the French dip and a four piece battered halibut. It was the best French dip either of us had ever had! The beef was incredibly flavorful, as was the aus jus. The battered halibut was so good! It is a light batter so the flavor of the Halibut really shines through. Everything was so good! Our server was the owner's daughter and she was delightful. Even if it wasn't among the few restaurants in Deer Park, And was in Spokane, I'd still go to it because it's that good. The waitresses are always so friendly, great atmosphere. If you're super hungry and want to consume 2000 calories their fish and unbelievable fries are the way to go! read more

I am happy to review our experience last night. We have lived in Deer Park for 15 years and have frequented this restaurant but, my meal last night, was exceptional. I had a BLT on a ciabatta roll with LOTS of delicious bacon; one of the best I've had. My side Caesar salad was also delicious covered with thinly sliced parmesan cheese curls on top. I have ordered this meal many times before but last night seemed upgraded. My husband said his shrimp was delicious along with a bowl of yummy clam chowder soup. Our waitress was super helpful and friendly and we will definitely be back read more

I went with my hubby and some friends. I was hoping for some fried oysters, but I got there too late. It does say on the menu to get there early because they will run out, but I didn't know this ahead of time. My friend ordered the fried calamari and I tried some and it was good. I ordered a bowl of clam chowder, and it was nice and thick the way it should be. Too bad it tasted like floury paste. I was really disappointed. Our waitress was really nice but got my hubs order wrong. He couldn't get her attention, so he ended up walking to the front and another waitress corrected the problem. I liked the decor, lots to look at. I'm sure I'll give them another try and hopefully be able to up my stars. The prices were fair. read more

We have eaten there many times and just love it. Well, this time wasn't good at all. The young girls behind the bar were way too loud on their cell phones etc. My reuben was so dry. The bread made the roof of my mouth sore. The sandwich was cold. Not good at all. Our waitress was fantastic! read more

The prices are crazy expensive for what you get at this restaurant. The service I've had has not been good. The waitress was rude and not friendly both times. The fish and chips are really good but it's like $10 for a one piece fish meal. That's insane. I also don't like that they get involved in small town politics. I've seen many messages up on their reader board regarding various elections or levies and I feel like that's just unprofessional. It also alienates a big part of your clientele if they don't agree. I don't want to hear about politics. I just want to eat good food. read more

Surprising venue. Go inside for warm and cozy mountain lodge feeling. Friendly staff. We enjoyed popcorn shrimp, chicken sandwich, Bacon blue cheese burger, and cheeseburger with coleslaw and fries as sides. Washed it all down with Blue Moon and Mac and Jack fresh from the tap. Wonderful place we need to remember to go there more often. Went to dinner there last week had fish and chips - DELICIOUS. The coleslaw was also very tasty. The waitress/ bartender was well above average- personable, efficient, friendly and funny. She even checked in to ensure our car headlights would turn themselves off. We are locals and went to have dinner with a family member from out of town and waited for over 1.5 hours for food. When we questioned the server, which was the owners daughter, she was very rude back and said "there's nothing I can do". We will NEVER go here again and I wouldn't recommend anyone else going there. The food is mostly just deep fried stuff anyway. You'd be better off going to McDonalds read more

You can't judge a book by its cover... Appears from the outside to be an old airplane hangar but has a rustic, open and warm interior. Small bar area with the restaurant area consisting of 6 person high top wood table, booths and standard tables. Went with a friend who had been there before and he said they are known for there fish and chips, especially their halibut and chips. So how could I not order halibut and chips. The menu also contains an assortment of hamburgers, steak, chicken, etc. Looked as if most of the items other then the fish was prepared on a grill. The fish was good. Crisp, not greasy and tasty. Tartar sauce was exceptional but they only give you a small container, you may have to ask for extra. The waitstaff was friendly, attentive and food did not take long. A nice, low key place to take in a meal. read more

Here at the Salty Dog we take pride in what we serve. Starting with our Fish-n-Chips. Every morning we hand cut and batter Alaskan halibut and cod in our own homemade batter. Each week we make up several batches of our own homemade Tarter sauce to go with many of our menu items. Our menu includes several choices of hamburgers. Our hamburgers are made with fresh extra lean beef which we buy daily from Eggers Meat just a couple of blocks from our back door. We also serve fresh In-House hand-cut and aged Ribeye and New York steaks. We have a large variety of cut fresh daily salads (Romaine leaf), sandwiches, chicken etc... We have 9 draft beers. Several wines to choose from. Soda pops teas things of that nature. However, the dressing was rather bland. And when I asked for pepper for it, our waitress first had it in her head that I expected some kind of peppers on my salad. When she finally understood I meant black pepper, she went away. Eventually she returned. Not with a pepper grinder or a shaker, but a sauce bowl that had about 3 tablespoons of black pepper in it. I wouldn't use that much pepper if I cooked for myself for a week and used it with every dish. Had to ask for knives for some of people's meals. I will say the spicy lamb rigatoni was amazing, pasta just right and the sauce and flavor was peak. I am just not sure what to say, other than this was the strangest and most disorganized dining experience I have ever had. I think if a grown up showed up and brought the kids into line, this place would be amazing. Also, for what we paid, I expected to be wowed, not left wondering what I just experienced.

The fish is lightly battered in a Mac & Jack's beer batter then cooked perfectly so that it's crisp and not greasy at all. The fries are awesome, too - crisp and golden brown and not greasy. Zip's in Spokane used to have great fish & chips but we hadn't had them for some time. What we recently found was 4 pieces of greasy fish the size of Chicken McNuggets and mostly limp fries. Very disappointing. We think the fish & chips at the First Street Bar and Grill are very much worth the drive to Deer Park!
