So many good reviews for Pryor's... it does have a fun feel with all the objects on the walls and ceiling and the menu is kind of basic. Nothing wrong with that. Except that the fish was great but the tartar sauce was not. The cheeseburger was fine but the best thing was the fries. They were golden and super crispy. Highlight of the meal. We were looking for a new place to have lunch (short hop off I-90) and Oh My Goodness!!! This is the cutest hole in the wall Fish Shack (they serve a lot of other things too). The service was excellent and very friendly. Smiles on the staff's faces. We had clams & fries and clam chowder (you can pick coleslaw instead). DELICIOUS!!!! Fries are yummy with excellent fry sauce. Clams cooked perfectly. The basket is a big portion. Especially after a serving of chowder. Took home leftovers . So disappointed with the chicken strips and fries. I thought before they made homemade fries. Or at least way better fries. These were frozen fries. The kind you get at the grocery store. This was frozen, not cut and battered daily. There is more breading than fish and no seasoning at all. The fry was thicker than the fish. I don't know how you can even cut fish that thin. If you want a nostalgic, (went back in time), super chill, fisherman's/mountain man style experience, then Pryor's is the spot you never even realized could be so good. Tried this place out based on reviews only. It's located in a little town on the border of WA and ID. Place is old school, which was great. Looks like a cracker barrel only smaller with all the trinkets hanging everywhere. Service was real good! Got the fish n chips with chowder. Now being from LA and also lived in Seattle, I'm a fish n chips and chowder snob. Tarter sauce here 2.5 out of 5 stars Fries 2 out of 5 stars Fish 3.5 out of 5 stars Prices? Kinda high for this mediocre quality. Would I return, yeah. Go out of my way? naw. We had an extremely disappointing visit. This is NOT the Pryor's we remember. Now, we had not been there since before the pandemic and the change we saw hard to fathom. When we decided on Pryor's for dinner, we were looking for an the great things we remembered but unfortunately found none on them. From the start, the service was tepid and indifferent. We waited a minute at the door to even be acknowledged and then told we could sit anywhere. Another 4-5 minutes before we even got menus. It wasn't for lack of staff as there were at least four people we saw in the dining room and it wasn't that they were excessively busy at 6:00PM. The staff they had was focused on the one or two other diners who seemed to be regulars. When we did get our menus, there was ZERO engagement, ZERO expression, and ZERO interest that we were there. Once we ordered our food didn't take too much longer than expected but was dramatically subpar. Interestingly, when the server came by to check on us she asked "how is everything" I answered "disappointing" she simply walked off. We used to count on this place for their ginormous thick planks of fish, what we got this time was barely a fish stick. Undersized & over cooked. Same could be said about the rest of the items in the captains plate. Scallops were burnt little balls and the fries were just a mass of glommed together potatoes. Again, terribly disappointing. I understand that the economy has caused menu prices to rise and a $50 meal for two is not unreasonable any more but at least take the time to do it well. It was interesting that the staff had time to run out & flag didn't a passing ice cream truck but didn't take the time to cook our order properly. Part of the conversation that we overheard between staff and another patron was that the restaurant was for sale. (possibly to a burger & seafood restauranteur from Post Falls). I commented to my wife that it's probably past time to sell if this is the indifference with which they treat their diners. Proof that a successful owner needs to actively manage. Every. Single. Day. A mushroom Swiss burger with a side of fries is about $14.00. Burger was pretty good, but nothing exceptional with very mediocre, processed fries. I was excited about the clams and fries as they claim to be a fish house. Soon found out there was no reason to be excited. Clams are pretty close to what I used to get at a chain fast food joint, Long John Silver's and, once again, same mediocre fries. Service was friendly and outstanding. When we arrived, I was a little surprised that there were only two tables occupied during prime lunch hour but after having lunch there I'm not too surprised. What I am surprised by are all the glowing reviews for this place and the overall Yelp rating of 4+. read more

Wife and son and I tried Pryor's tonight. We've lived in Otis orchards about three months so we felt it was time to check them out. The place is small but very clean. The walls and ceiling are covered with a lot of antiques. Usually when you see that much old stuff on the walls it's dusty or covered in cob webs. The owners take good care of the place. The cheeseburger and onion rings I had didn't disappoint and my wife enjoyed her fish and chips. My sons 's fishwich looked good too. Their tartar sauce looks house made with lots of relish. I just got back from a vacation on the Oregon Coast and the clam chowder and fish here rivaled everything we got on the coast! Wonderful family feel from the time we walked in the door and the waitress was absolutely incredible! 1st time here. Recommended to us and it's just 5 miles away from us in Liberty Lake. It's located in Otis Orchard. Don't be fooled by the building. Don't be fooled by the cool, eclectic decor on walls and ceiling. It's far from glamorous and not fancy. Just know this: It's small. The parking lot is packed. The seating inside is packed. The outside covered patio is packed. There are people, and. lots of folks picking up called in orders. The staff is moving as fast as they can. Be patient as it's worth it. It's divey... big in a wonderful way. We sat at the front bar (no alcohol here) as the place had all tables packed. Best know for their fried fish (cod) as well as locally sourced burgers. We came for the fish. I was also told to try the clam chowder and coleslaw, both home made. Would have had pie and ice cream but we were stuffed. Ok...fried fish was fantastic. Lightly breaded and fish was fresh. Fries were crunchy on outside and soft inside. Coleslaw was crunchy and creamy. Clam chowder was fresh, thick, smooth and very, very yummy . Pricey it is NOT! We had RC cola that they kept filled. We split a cup of clam chowder, we both had the 2 pieces of fish with fries dinners. (No plates, plastic holders with paper). Each had coleslaw and dips for the fish. Tarter and I had cocktail sauce. Our bill was $26 dollars. I'm not sure why this place had high marks. It only gets a 3 because the waitresses were friendly and efficient. We ordered fish and chips, and the Ole Joe salad. The fries were good, but the fish was bland and Luke warm. The tartar sauce was made with sweet relish. My salad, which was basically a chili salad, tasted like it was out of a can. Canned chili, unripe tomatoes, mild cheese, iceberg lettuce. No dressing, no sour cream, and definitely no flavor. Skip it. read more
