When I walked up, I could smell the smoky scent of great BBQ. there are benches outside to sit at. No inside dinning. When I walked up to the window, I was greeted with a smile and was assisted on there sides and which ones are favorites. She was very friendly and helpful considering it was my first time. The tri-tip was absolutely delicious. Better than the other BBQ spot that's a little further in town off the freeway. Very very tender and seasoned perfect. They recommend the spicy Mac & Cheese. I'm not a Mac & cheese person, but this too was delicious. The BBQ sauce comes on the side which is unique. Very good and not spicy. I will definitely stop and eat here again when I'm in town. As May is ending, I thought it was a great day for some BBQ. I ordered a Salty's special and a hot link. The service was fast and the line was not too big. They have some great seating along the wall and in the shade. The prices are definitely on the higher side as everything has gone up in price. The pulled pork was dry but the tri-tip made up for it. I was driving and couldn't decide what to eat when I caught a whiff of the mouthwatering BBQ from my car. It was an instant decision, dinner was going to be BBQ. My mom had entrusted me with getting her any chicken dish, so I was thrilled to find a place that had it. The cashier was helpful and gave me some great suggestions. I ended up paying a little over $50 for three entrees, but the portions were so generous. They have ample outdoor seating and a few tables inside as well; I decided to sit outside on their heated patio while I waited for my order. No line, decided to try the tri tip sandwich which included a side. I chose green beans. The beef has a fantastic smoked flavor, tender, moist - perfect! I usually just eat the meat and discard the bun, but this bun looked so substantial and properly toasted, I thought I'd give it a try. Fresh AND buttered, oh my. The green beans are fairly spicy. On a busy day while running errands, I popped into the stand on Rosedale to have a quick BBQ lunch. I was craving beef ribs and on Instagram. I learned that they have them. There is no indoor seating at this place however they have some seating in front under misters and seating in the parking lot along the wall of a building so you get plenty of shade. The parking lot is just dirt so depending on which way the wind is blowing. I would caution you to make sure you check before you sit down I ordered the beef ribs plate and that came with one side and a fresh roll. My sides were potato salad and rice pilaf. The roll was a basic small dinner roll, like a mini French roll that was cut in half buttered and grilled. I also ordered a beverage so I could try their sweet tea.l Since it was really hot that day, I decided to sit at a table, or rather a bench, under the misters. At first, that was a great idea because I could feel the mister cooling me down however, after getting into my meal, I realized I was getting wet. I didn't enjoy that and moved to the end of the bench to avoid getting overspray. I was super excited to try my beef ribs. Sometimes when you have a craving, you can't get rid of it until you actually have whatever you're craving. When my order came out, I was super excited and dug right in. The ribs looked delicious. However they were over smoked, and some of the edges were very dry. The potato salad looked delicious, but lacked something... It had more vinegar than mayonnaise and I wasn't a fan of that. I did not care for the role as it did not have any taste whatsoever. Their sweet tea was delicious! Fill your cup all the way up with ice and it is so refreshing. Overall... I'm not sure if the hype is worth the bite. I don't think I will go back, there are other better barbecue places in town. If you go, I hope your experience is better. Enjoy! read more

First timers here and I can say it smells amazing as soon as you pull up! Definitely a tiny tucked away little gem that's cooking up some yummy stuff! The prices are high but if you know BBQ it's pretty on brand and the average price. I mean, have you seen beef prices? Yikes! Updated menu, but let me say this BBQ dive was awesome. You can see the smoker and smell the aroma as soon as you arrive. I got the combination of 1 pork rib, 1 beef rib and 1/4 pounds of pulled pork and side of Cole slaw. My son had the same plus the spicy mac and cheese which he loved. It was great. Came for lunch on a Thursday. Outside tables and bbq. All were clean with the exception of an alley cat walking up to everyone and while you're eating. No biggie. Food: Iced tea: excellent! Dark and full, great flavor. Pork ribs: good. Nothing to write home about but had a decent tenderness, not fall off the bone, but the rub made up for it. Beef ribs: trash. I would feed these to my dog. Small. Dry. Almost like they were left in to dehydrate. Chili bean: delicious. Nice spice and good flavor, as well as hearty. Hot link: good good! Wow! The famous Salty's BBQ! I first came across the Salty's booth at Village Fest and there was a constant long line the whole time. The locals know what they love! I knew I had to try it on my next visit to Bakersfield. This time I saw them at Cruizin' Shine, a nonprofit community Car Show and fundraising event in Downtown Bakersfield. For the event, they have their food truck with a condense menu. Since it was my first visit, I decided to try their Salty's Special ($20) sandwich that includes a side, which I opted for the Spicy Mac N' Cheese. Yummm!! This glorious sandwich has tri-tip and pulled pork, yellow peppers and coleslaw. The pulled pork was some of the best pulled pork I've ever had. And the spicy mac n' cheese was really tasty too. Food: The food here was good! I tried the tri-tip, brisket and pulled pork sandwiches. All great choices of cut meats. All were very tender, Smokey flavor (without the sauce) and filling. My favorite was the tri-tip sandwich with the spicy mac&cheese. Bomb! Service: Staff are fast and efficient. I placed an order of 6 combos and got it within 12 mins. Only thing I would recommend is that they get a mic and speaker when calling out orders. It's hard to hear your number being called out with lots of people talking and cars flying by. Ambiance: It's very simple here. They got several tables in the front and along the side of the driveway going into the rear parking lot. I didn't see any restrooms here which might be a bad thing if you got to go (I may be wrong though). The parking lot is a dirt lot, so expect your vehicle to catch some dust.
