Honestly really disappointed in the quality of food that was given to me. I ordered the ribs and pulled pork combo and the ribs still had the membrane. Which made it hard trying to bite into it. It was mostly bone with barely any meat. The roll and potato salad were the only good items in my order. Don't let the picture fool you... or guy fieri. The food was good enough to fill me up I guess.
As May is ending, I thought it was a great day for some BBQ. I ordered a Salty's special and a hot link. The service was fast and the line was not too big. They have some great seating along the wall and in the shade. The prices are definitely on the higher side as everything has gone up in price. The pulled pork was dry but the tri-tip made up for it. I can through down on the smoker myself but having someone else bbq is always great.
I was driving and couldn't decide what to eat when I caught a whiff of the mouthwatering BBQ from my car. It was an instant decision, dinner was going to be BBQ. My mom had entrusted me with getting her any chicken dish, so I was thrilled to find a place that had it. The cashier was helpful and gave me some great suggestions. I ended up paying a little over $50 for three entrees, but the portions were so generous. They have ample outdoor seating and a few tables inside as well; I decided to sit outside on their heated patio while I waited for my order. I was just getting comfortable when the cashier walked my order out to me. Everything was neatly packaged, and they even provided to-go silverware and sauces to accompany our plates. I will definitely be coming back for more
No line, decided to try the tri tip sandwich which included a side. I chose green beans. The beef has a fantastic smoked flavor, tender, moist - perfect! I usually just eat the meat and discard the bun, but this bun looked so substantial and properly toasted, I thought I'd give it a try. Fresh AND buttered, oh my. The green beans are fairly spicy. But cooked well and the sauce could be commercial. I'm not putting it on the tri-tip. The smoked flavor is just too good. Got a large Coke and the soda dispenser is well calibrated. Glad I stopped back in!

There is no indoor seating at this place however they have some seating in front under misters and seating in the parking lot along the wall of a building so you get plenty of shade. The parking lot is just dirt so depending on which way the wind is blowing. I would caution you to make sure you check before you sit down I ordered the beef ribs plate and that came with one side and a fresh roll. My sides were potato salad and rice pilaf. The roll was a basic small dinner roll, like a mini French roll that was cut in half buttered and grilled. I also ordered a beverage so I could try their sweet tea.l Since it was really hot that day, I decided to sit at a table, or rather a bench, under the misters. At first, that was a great idea because I could feel the mister cooling me down however, after getting into my meal, I realized I was getting wet. I didn't enjoy that and moved to the end of the bench to avoid getting overspray. I was super excited to try my beef ribs. Sometimes when you have a craving, you can't get rid of it until you actually have whatever you're craving. When my order came out, I was super excited and dug right in. The ribs looked delicious. However they were over smoked, and some of the edges were very dry. The potato salad looked delicious, but lacked something... It had more vinegar than mayonnaise and I wasn't a fan of that. I did not care for the role as it did not have any taste whatsoever. Their sweet tea was delicious! Fill your cup all the way up with ice and it is so refreshing. Overall... I'm not sure if the hype is worth the bite. I don't think I will go back, there are other better barbecue places in town. If you go, I hope your experience is better. Enjoy!
Came by here the other day while in Bakersfield to try the BBQ. Had the Brisket dinner which was fabulous! Also tried the spicy Mac n Cheese and potato salad. Really enjoyed my meal. The staff was super friendly and service was superb! The picnic style tables out front were great! I'll be back
Updated menu, but let me say this BBQ dive was awesome. You can see the smoker and smell the aroma as soon as you arrive. I got the combination of 1 pork rib, 1 beef rib and 1/4 pounds of pulled pork and side of Cole slaw. My son had the same plus the spicy mac and cheese which he loved. It was great. Quality meat for sure. I wanted more, but I had hoped to split it with my wife... quantity wasn't enough at that level to split... but don't let this deter you. The BBQ was excellent. They just wanted more.
Food: The food here was good! I tried the tri-tip, brisket and pulled pork sandwiches. All great choices of cut meats. All were very tender, Smokey flavor (without the sauce) and filling. My favorite was the tri-tip sandwich with the spicy mac&cheese. Bomb! Service: Staff are fast and efficient. I placed an order of 6 combos and got it within 12 mins. Only thing I would recommend is that they get a mic and speaker when calling out orders. It's hard to hear your number being called out with lots of people talking and cars flying by. Ambiance: It's very simple here. They got several tables in the front and along the side of the driveway going into the rear parking lot. I didn't see any restrooms here which might be a bad thing if you got to go (I may be wrong though). The parking lot is a dirt lot, so expect your vehicle to catch some dust. Other than that, the BBQ is very good! Definitely coming back out when visiting family. Worth checking out if you're looking for some good BBQ out here in the area.

It's not often that a restaurant already known for being amazing opens a new location and somehow exceeds the expectations--but Salty's did just that! I tried out the drive-thru, and even with several cars ahead of me, I was out in less than 20 minutes! Salty's had a nice vibe that attracts and welcomes customers. The service was great, and I left feeling happy, excited, and ready to dig in. We got the 1/2 lb tri-tip dinner with green beans and potato salad, along with the ¼ chicken & rib combo with coleslaw and chili beans. And WOW... everything was absolutely delicious! Honestly, and surprisingly, I think it was even better than the original location! If you're craving some seriously good BBQ, Salty's needs to be your next stop! read more
Such good bbq. The food options are all good. Went with the 2 meat combo plate. Bigger portion. Well worth it. Brisket and tri tip. Good stuff. The spicy Mac was a side and that did not disappoint either. Service was quick for the amount of people ordering and in line waiting. Love the smokers outside and overall smoke production from them cooking. Adds to the expierence of bbq. read more

When I walked up, I could smell the smoky scent of great BBQ. there are benches outside to sit at. No inside dinning. When I walked up to the window, I was greeted with a smile and was assisted on there sides and which ones are favorites. She was very friendly and helpful considering it was my first time. The tri-tip was absolutely delicious. Better than the other BBQ spot that's a little further in town off the freeway. Very very tender and seasoned perfect. They recommend the spicy Mac & Cheese. I'm not a Mac & cheese person, but this too was delicious. The BBQ sauce comes on the side which is unique. Very good and not spicy. I will definitely stop and eat here again when I'm in town. I totally recommend this place. This is my opinion and You would have to eat here to form your own opinion. read more

Updated menu, but let me say this BBQ dive was awesome. You can see the smoker and smell the aroma as soon as you arrive. I got the combination of 1 pork rib, 1 beef rib and 1/4 pounds of pulled pork and side of Cole slaw. My son had the same plus the spicy mac and cheese which he loved. It was great. Quality meat for sure. I wanted more, but I had hoped to split it with my wife... quantity wasn't enough at that level to split... but don't let this deter you. The BBQ was excellent. Word service ever order on line at 7 pm and it's 8pm standing here waiting for my food and still say we are almost to your order the need to speed tho Gs up stop being on there phones and so there job so the service don't take for ever only if the owner would see the service the have when he is gone everyone complains never coming here agin read more

Passed by here a couple of times & finally decided to stop by. Unfortunately, we did go later in the day and they ran out of pork ribs, so we ordered the brisket & pulled pork dinner, (which both came with two regular sides) + an extra hot link on the side. If I could have ordered again, I definitely would have gotten an extra piece of bread because it was not enough lol The portion of brisket / pulled pork + the sides was pretty good for the price, I think! The brisket was juicy but also too much fat at times, whereas the pulled pork was a little bit dry, but I ended up drenching them in the sauce anyways. The mac & cheese + the coleslaw were actually pretty good! I would have to agree with other reviews that the potato salad was.... lowkey not very good and I would definitely skip it even if you think you love potato salad. read more

I had a wonderful time eating at saltys today, i brought about 30 people all at once and we were all served on time and efficiently! The food was amazing, Best chicken i've had in years. ribs were perfect and everyone was happy! definitely give saltys a try. Everyone's first time and they loved it read more

I don't know how this place has only a 4/5 and not 5/5. What more could people ask for? I was told this place was better than Firestone and didn't think it was possible. Both are great but I have to agree and actually think Salty's does win this one. Hands down most tender trip tip I've ever had. Will definitely be back. read more

If you're in the area make sure and stop into Saltys , you will not be disappointed. I ordered the 1/2 chicken, 2 beef ribs, 2 pork ribs and coleslaw, It was warm outside and they did have misters on which made it comfortable. BB King was the music of the day and it set a fantastic mood to eat by. Great dry rub on the ribs . The bbq sauce had a very mild twang, I started with both hands on the beef ribs, they were good , I moved right on to the pork ribs , great dry rub and smoky flavor, then onto the chicken, bread roll and coleslaw, it was really good, the staff was super friendly, great parking , definitely good read more

I visited a customer in Fresno and he mentioned this place in Bakersfield. I'm glad he did. I marked it as a place to go on Yelp. They had a good menu of various bbq'd proteins. I went with the 1/4 lb tri-tip (you can get brisket, I took tri-tip on recommendation from employee) and 1/4 lb pulled pork and the combo comes with one side, I chose cole slaw. I added the chili beans for extra charge. The pulled pork and tri-tip was smoked well and very tasty. The bbq sauce was sweet and tangy. The cole slaw was crispy and needed no extra seasoning. The chili beans were good too. My only wish is if they had peach cobbler for dessert. read more
Best BBQ in town hands down. The staff is always super friendly, the vibe is always great. Everyone is always happy eating BBQ... the second you get out of your car you get the aroma of smoked meat, can't beat it! This is a place I try to get to at least on a monthly basis. Was craving BBQ and found this place .... I'm sorry to say I'm not impressed, food portions were ok , ribs a bit on the greasy side and sides were very small , for $45 I found it a bit pricey for a place where there's no inside seating. I'm not saying it was bad , I'm just saying I'd eat here again if I was close by, but wouldn't make a special trip to come here . read more
