I had a hardcore craving for BBQ meat and this craving needed to be coddled. I came here to Yelp and asked its wise advice for the best in Bako and look where it lead me. Our visit was at the end of the day, so some of the meats were sold out. I was sad, but adjusted quickly and ordered a double meat plate with brisket and deep pit. Mac and cheese and beans were the sides I chose after some consideration and adjustment knowing okra was sold out for the day. The worker who greeted us and took my order was so knowledgeable about their menu and let me know what's up. The ambiance is lovely, the patio especially. On a nice day or evening it's just perfect. My meat plate was so bomb, you guys. The brisket was exactly what my soul needed. Their BBQ sauces are a dream come true. My deep pit was also so so good. It was so good I wish I could've shrunk down into a tiny lil guy and tucked myself in between the bun and the patty. We came on a whim. Got a bit of everything. The tritip, the chicken, the ribs. Also got the mac and cheese, the beans, potato salad and fried green beans for the sides. The tri-tip was great, not dry and went well with the bread. Wasn't personally a fan of the chicken. It was well cooked but too salty for my tastes. My fiancé didn't seem to mind it. All the sides were great. I really liked the batter they used on the fried green beans. Perfect level of crispy for me. Also loved the seasoning of the potato salad. The mac and cheese is like a better version of Hometown buffet's mac and cheese, I also loved it. Makes me want to try it with the hot links next time. We also tried the BBQ sauces. Each were very good and paired well with the food. But either the food is so good I don't think it needs sauce. Or, for me, their sauces are missing that addictive aspect. They were pretty middling for me. Hands down crowd favorite though, were the ribs. We watched as the fiancé picked up the rib and fall off the bone. THE RIBS ARE SO GOOD YOU CAN EAT THE BONE. Craved barbecue and ended up here! Fairly packed on the weekends for lunch but you get your stuff pretty quick. On a sunny but cool day, dining outside feels great. Got the brisket, ribs, beans, and hot link mac. I always judge barbecue by their brisket and unfortunately it wasn't my favorite. I think the seasoning was lacking and the texture wasn't as soft as I would like it. The ribs however are a dang contender. Within top 3 in town for sure. 4 kinds of barbecue sauces, can't go wrong with the original and the mustard base. Sides were a hit. Over two weeks ago we ate at this cute little BBQ spot in Bakersfield and my mouth hasn't stopped watering yet. I ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich with a side of crack (tots with Mac 'n sausage) and they did not disappoint! The meat was juicy, tender, and flavorful, the bun perfectly toasted, they had a wide selection of BBQ sauces (along with pickled things and wonderbread if that's your thing), their Mac n'cheese (on the tots) was creamy and divine. The service was excellent. We ate outside and even though it was a hot day, there was plenty of seating in the shade. Loved the automatic fly swatters (?) on each table. This bbq spot is on my weekly lunch rotation. Every time I come I'm impressed with a new item. The burgers are amazing, the brisket is competition quality and the sides are exceptional! When to eat here tonight. We really enjoyed the food. The atmosphere is welcoming. The place is clean and the staff is very friendly. This place is veteran owned, and they do have things showing that they are proud of that which was really cool to see. They do have a condiment station and they also offer onions, pickles, jalapenos, besides the condiments. The pool pork was really tasty.The fish and chips honestly, i've had better. Meeting a friend for lunch and he requested BBQ. I used google and this place came up. Looked promising. It is on a side street downtown, quite unassuming from outside. I love the inside, rustic but very carefully decorated. The AC is nice and cold. This place was full of cops. It's a promising sign since they drive everywhere and they know good hearty food. The waitress was sweet and fun to talk to. We got assortment of pulled pork, ribs, and tritip, with side of okra and hush puppies. The food was smoky, juicy, and melted in my mouth. We recently decided to finally visit and it did not disappoint. Ever since I started liking barbecue more, I've been on the hunt for the best brisket and any time I try a new spot I end up loving the brisket so it's hard to choose a favorite. Wait time was not long, and we went during lunch during the week, but I don't know what the norm looks like so don't hold me to it. They have lots of tables inside and outside, so you can definitely come with a group. Patio area is nice. The restaurant is clean and if you like barbecue, you'll smell the food as you walk in. Went over for lunch and got my some good 'ol brisket! First I want to say I sat out in the patio and it was very nicely shaded and fans were in, Maybe i just got lucky but the weather was perfect! I saw next to the BBQ and came home smelling like BBQ(I like smelling like BBQ). As soon as I sat down my table was wiped down, it really felt like everyone was really trying to impress me. Everyone is so poliet and happy going, Got greeted when I came in and the server came out to bring my food asked if Id ever been there and since it was my first time he explained where to get my utensils and bbq sauses. Now food wise, same as when this was porkchop and bubbas the brisket was great and mac was creamy! This was my first time getting the chili and not to knock them but chili is unique everywhere personally this wasnt for me but I can see why people would love it as its very cummin foward. I'm not an expert when it comes to grilling but I do like to eat, I have tried all of the BBQ places in Bakersfield and Bakersfield Barbecue by far was the best in my opinion. I ordered Mac and cheese with chili beans and 1/4 rack of ribs with Tritip the Ribs fell of the bone and the Tri-tip was cooked to perfection not over smoked like some of the others that I have tried. We stopped by this place on Saturday at lunch and it was packed, so we returned on Monday. The line was much shorter and there were inside tables available. This is a very comfortable atmosphere. You order at the counter. We split the pulled pork sandwich with a side of fries. The dining area is comfortable. There is a lot to lot at. You can tell the place is veteran owned and very respectful to those in service and first responders. Our sandwich arrived. The pork was tender and juicy. The bun tasted freshly baked. A good amount of coleslaw topped the meat, but it was not too much. The french fries were crisp and warm. We got a side of the spicy barbecue sauce and it was spicy. Overall, an enjoyable experience. I usually love this place and everything it stands for but my last visit in October of 2025 was a swing and a miss. I tried to make a pulled pork shoulder for my office party, but my Traeger suffered the dreaded "LeR" error and I didn't notice before it was too late. I had an hour before I needed to be at my event with food so I called Bakersfield BBQ Co. to order a few pounds of pulled pork and have it ready for me to pick up on the way in. Whomever answered the phone informed me they don't do telephone orders and to come into the shop and order. I guess I understand- if I were a business I wouldn't want to risk the waste of product either. I showed up and waited in line to order my $100+ worth of pulled pork, then had to wait another 20+ minutes for the less than enthusiastic staff to package it for me. I was eventually handed a foil tray full of pork which was already covered in grease before I even stepped out to my car, so much that it left a giant greasy foot print on the back seat. When my coworkers and I dug into it back at the office, it was clear this was a very fatty pork roast based on the smell, flavor, and texture. Most of it wound up being thrown out.
