What a find! We decided to have dinner here & due to the wind, we sat at the bar to have dinner. Discovered that they have a fantastic HH every day! My house vodka martini was great & only $6! We shared ate almost entirely off the HH menu - bruschetta, caesar salad, bolognese, & the pasta with mushroom sauce. Pasta is homemade & you can get it off the HH menu! We even got a bread basket served to us! We indulged in profiteroles for dessert. The bartender was wonderful. The interior looks very nice. Outside they have plenty of tables. I came back for an actual meal. They start the meal off with bread and a marinara-olive oil (see previous review for similar thoughts). For an appetizer, the gnocchi alla Bolognese was ordered for the table. It was homemade potato gnocchi with a Bolognese sauce and whipped ricotta. This was very good. The homemade gnocchi was light and flavorful while there was plenty of meat in the sauce. The ricotta just added to it. For an entrée, I split the Cernia in Crosta, and a pappardelle special. The Cernia was fresh herb-crusted Gulf grouper with lobster scampi sauce, grilled asparagus and potatoes. The grouper was a very generous size. The fish was cooked ideally, and the herb-crust really was flavorful. I thought the actual grouper could have been seasoned more, but not a huge deal. The scampi sauce was good too. The pasta special was homemade pappardelle in a brandy cream sauce with five scallops present. This was a simple dish done right. The pappardelle was perfectly cooked while the brandy cream sauce was light, but flavorful. The scallops had a nice char on them with enough flavor. I also tried a sausage link, that was too salty. I also tried the spinaci e caprine salad. It contained baby spinach, crispy prosciutto, truffle honey, multiple pieces of fruit, candied walnuts, and goat cheese. We were seated on the patio and it was lovely. They had a music duo, an older couple, on guitar doing mostly folk music, and it was very enjoyable. As a non-drinker, the first thing I always look for is a choice of mocktails on the menu. They don't have any. Boo. My husband ordered chianti, and the waiter did his best to have the bartender make me a mocktail. It came with fresh basil, which I liked. We ordered the Polipo Rapini e Patate (octopus appetizer), Spinaci e Caprino (spinach salad), and Parmigiana Melenzane (eggplant parmigiana). Even though the eggplant Parmesan was an appetizer it was plenty of food for my husband for dinner. The octopus was just okay, and the salad was very good. Very nice fruity dressing. We told our server that we would be gabbing for quite some time and she could take her time coming to visit us for service. A group of eight of us made a special reservation for Bevardi's Salute to celebrate an evening out after some medical issues. The servers were attentive when we first sat down, bringing requested butter for our bread (a few people didn't want the supplied oil), waters, wines, and so on. Then it came time to order. Somehow the server took 7 people's orders and skipped person 8 so they had to chase him down. On the appetizers, the servers were nice and split an appetizer onto two plates for a couple to easily share. I adore beef carpaccio but this was more like deli meat than a nice thin slicing. Next came the main dishes. The general consensus was that the food was good but not great. The lasagna was OK. The short rib ravioli was OK. Someone had the butternut squash ravioli special and it was bland with tough ravioli. We even passed that dish around for others to try, since a number of us love butternut squash ravioli, and it just wasn't up to standards. I also question the serving of several of the meals in hot skillet pans. I've certainly seen a variety of plate presentations in restaurants over the years, but a hot skillet pan is just hard to eat out of and fairly dangerous. The staff was quite busy by this point and not very attentive to if we had feedback or thoughts. So we just asked for the bills. Items showed up on the wrong peoples' bills but we sorted it out amongst ourselves rather than ask for check redos. All in all, not what we would have expected from Bevardi's Salute. I'll give it four stars since the food was still reasonable, but just not up to the standards we would have thought. read more

February 14, 2024 - 2 for Valentines Day dinner. Got into VERY long almost 30 minute line for our 7 pm reservation that we were 10 minutes early for. Seated inside on a back room by the bathrooms and kitchen traffic, fairly noisy as well the kitchen noise and many dropped dishes and etc came from the kitchen door near us. (NO ding for these but just FYI.) Service was a little slower than previous, while exceptional when there bit delay on beverages, and entrees staggered out separately bread and first beverage took over 10 minutes. Yeah I know Valentines Day...... but the server had too many tables and the kitchen was behind. (don't take the reservations (obviously overbooked) or staff up? We almost always get the Fungi Porcini and almost got TWO orders. The pasta and the mushroom medley and the sauce are terrific and its cooked properly every time. 10/10 My wife instead tried the Agnolotti a homemade half-moon shaped pasta filled with ricotta cheese and spinach in a light cream sauce. This was WAY too cheesy and saucy and we were reaching for the Lipitor tablets. Heavy butter or oil and fairly salty (overly) as well. The pasta was ok but sort of soggy maybe from the ricotta or maybe it was sitting around.......dunno. Can only speak to the end result. 6/10 Had a great time, parking was no problem and no charge for us. (not telling) So the driver enjoyed the night. We will come back in the off season and not on a date or occasion/holiday night.... read more

I like the atmosphere here, and the menu choices, it it just isn't the dining experience that works for me. We were a group of 4 and arrived with a reservation and found only one other table occupied. Our server took drink orders and then disappeared, not taking our food order. She finally returned and only one of us ordered a salad and an entree, the rest just an entree. The salad arrived quickly, but then we waited over 30 minutes for the entrees. Salad - light and refreshing! 5 stars Butternut squash bisque - very good! Has clove or cinnamon in it and reminds me of pumpkin pie in liquid form. Good for Thanksgiving! Four of us popped in for dinner, after a short walk from the concert on the water...early for us, but as it turned out... It was a bit chilly do we opted for a high top in the bar. Turns out there's a happy hour with inexpensive small plates that are actually pretty big. We gorged on some mouthwatering pappardelle with mushroom sauce, a delightful baked brie and apple on toast with jam, and fresh mussels in white wine. Oh - and we discovered the owners 2008 Cabernet from their 90 acre estate in Tuscany- the current release. It was sooo good we split a case. We ate some more apps, shared a few more tastes of vino and another bottle of 08. Our server and manager Matt were superb hosts and we had a blast! Sit outside (ask for the heat lamps if it's chilly out as it was for the four us on a November evening); order from the early bird menu ($26.95 for an app, entree, and dessert); and enjoy the live music (selections from the 50s to 80s are featured, appealing to the early dinner demographic). The food itself was fine. From the early bird menu, here are my impressions: Apps: -Trio of tapenade, olives, hummus--excellent, my favorite -Bruschetta with eggplant, bland -caprese salad- fine, nothing special Entrees: -Parmesan crusted grouper, really nice especially the fried potatoes and asparagus accompaniment -Parpadelle with porcini, quite good, above average but could have used more creative spicing -Salmon--only had a bite which was delicious Desserts Gelato, excellent chocolate and vanilla Cannoli, average Bottle of their in house San giovese (Luminoso), $55, very drinkable. This restaurant in downtown Sarasota was convenient to the Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe. We went there before a show but were concerned about the service in light of prior reviews. Not only was the service not slow, it was attentive and so incredibly fast, that we had way more time than we expected to linger over coffee and dessert. We shared the Caesar salad. My husband had the homemade pappardelle in mushroom sauce which was really delicious. It was not a large portion but certainly ample. I had the Pollo Al Carciofi (chicken with artichokes, prosciutto, and mozzarella in a lemon caper sauce) which was also excellent. To me Thanksgiving is all about the food and Family . I made reservations last week of September so I wouldn't be locked out like I was last year. I tried a new restaurant that I've never been to before. Bevardi's Salute offered a three course Thanksgiving dinner for $49.95. Choice of soup or salad, main course Tom Turkey, with sausage, stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes and string beans, almondine, and gravy, and a choice between pumpkin pie with whipped cream and apple pie with vanilla ice cream. Well, my reservation was at 2 PM. That's when they opened. We had other places to go later in the afternoon so we wanted to get the big dinner out-of-the-way it was just myself and my daughter. We both chose the salad. The soup was butternut squash, but I felt like a salad, and it was a delicious salad. As a matter of fact, hindsight, it was the best part of the meal. They brought the main course and they had two slices of white meat and it looks like they shredded the dark meat from the wings and thighs, which was fine and didn't bother me because the dark meat was delicious and juicy the white meat. I left it on the plate and sent it back because I couldn't eat it. It was so dry even with all that gravy that was over it and the sweet potato it turns out I got the two ends of the potato that's it nothing else and the mashed potatoes were not bad and the string beans weren't bad but all in all the entire meal was a flop. And I was disappointed the pumpkin pie was good, which is what we both had and I had whipped cream and ice cream after I told him about the turkey he took pity on me. But now here's the cool part, so they advertise $49.95 but that's only if you pay cash if you put it on a credit or debit card it's 5% more. Lol I used to run a video store and I took credit cards and I heard from the credit card company that if I was going to charge a 5% surcharge because they're using a credit card they would take my machine away. I don't know, this was a long time ago (1992), but I don't see how they can charge you more money because you use a credit card. This isn't a gas station. So anyway it was a bust even though I did plan ahead with reservations I learned the lesson for a holiday meal you need more than just reservations to make it really good. Do your homework go before and check out their food. Sorry maybe next time. read more

Yep, a good Italian place in Sarasota, and I say that as I lived/worked in a restaurant in Italy! From seating by the hostess (chose a table outside, as the evening temperature was perfect), music (heard Laura Pausini, Toto Cutugno), to service (pleasant waitress who spoke few words in Italian) and excellent food. Started with caprese salad, which unlike other places, was neat and well plated (check the pic). At only $14.95, it was a good choice! For main course (secondi, as they say), I went for a veal Milanese, which again, was perfectly plated, with baked potato and fresh arugula. It was priced at $27.95. And ended the evening with a delicious profiterole (creamy puff with a sweet filling of whipped cream). Would come back again, good evening here! read more

We had an early reservation and many tables were open but service was very slow. I ordered lasagna and was brought lobster ravioli. I had to wait even longer for the correct dish. My wife ordered the Linguine Shrimp Scampi which said "large" shrimp, tomatoes, garlic, & basil for 36.95, what arrived was more like buttered noodles with several cocktail schrimp. NOT worth the price. Chef Bevardi should feel ashamed for himself and his kitchen staff for providing something different than what they write in the menu and the low quality/value. My daughter ordered the veal medallions which were the size of silver dollars and were wafer thin for 38.95! The bartender made great drinks! However I will not visit this restaurant again. A Flavorless Bloody Mary to start should have been my first clue that tonight was destined for mere mediocrity. Moving on, we each ordered starters: Salute salad, grilled shrimp/calamari, and carpaccio. The salad was as salad Carpaccio was good But, please kitchen staff... you MUST prep the squid which includes peeling off the thin outer skin- or else there is an invisible stringy but on every piece that tries to choke you. Entrees: branzino which was tableside massacred in the attempt to filet it. It was "served" in crumbles bits alone on the plate. Vegetable side was mushy summer squash. And the chicken with artichoke- was barely kissed with a dime size piece of artichoke with hard outer leaves attached (which are inedible). The sauce was a piccata type flavor with a piece of anemic looking dry chicken. Finally, the cappuccino was just coffee with milk. No foam, not espresso. The lemon tart wasn't lemony. I feel like nobody was even trying. Well, I was trying- trying not to complain about literally every dish we got and embarrass my cousin as this was her restaurant choice. Cafe Baci has been our go to for great Italian cuisine. Unfortunately, they closed about a year or so ago. I think we finally found a comparable and affordable place for exceptional Italian food. We went to Bevardi's Salute just to try it out as we had never been. Very impressed! The menu was extensive, but we opted for the $40 Savor Sarasota menu. What a feast they rolled out! From cocktails, to the appetizers, and then onto the entrée and dessert... It was succulent, well prepared, visually stunning to the eye and Oh-So-Tasty! They aced the calamari. Not overdone or underdone in the least. Simply perfect. Our server, Gabor from Hungary - who prefers to go by Gabriel, took us on a tour through his favorites and recommended everything that I really wanted to try. The result was a great night out. Thank you! The restaurant is much bigger on the inside than it looks from the exterior. We were there before the theatre and had a beautiful corner table facing the street. I ordered a different dressing for my salad, which was not provided. Neither was disposable silverware. The lasagna was okay at best, and super disappointing portion for $18. We spent almost $50 for 2 salads and lasagna and delivery. Yum! I was on a walk through town with my family and we stopped in to Bevardi's Salute for a before dinner drink. The amazing smell from the kitchen made us stay for dinner! We ordered the trio appetizer that came with hummus, olives, and tapenade. We also ordered the mushroom brochette, which was great. For dinner I had the linguine with clams. The dish was delicious and the flavors were good! However it was pretty oily. At the end of my meal I had to tilt my plate to the side to drain the oil. My husband and I were craving Italian and finally decided to give this place a try. We've always shied away because of how loud the restaurant is that is next to them. Not their fault just a little unfortunate. They had their own live singers that night and it worked out well. We stood for a minute before being sat. The hostess was kind and gave us the option of the area to be seated in. We sat for around 10-15 watching server by server pass us by. I tried getting the attention of one and she just shrugged her shoulders and walked away. At this point we decided to leave. At this point a server who was prepping to leave for the night opted to stay and take care of us. Her kindness quickly turned our experience around. She offered us an app and a dessert on the house to make up for the first impression. She brought us a fici bruschetta. It was different from bruschettas I've had in the past but in a good way. The bread and oil they bring to the tables are also really good as well. I ordered agnolotti and added blackened chicken. My husband ordered a medium rare carre di agnello (lamb shanks). My food was great. The pasta tasted super fresh and the sauce was so so yummy. My husband on the other hand received very well done lamb shanks. He tried eating it but along with them being I overcooked they weren't seasoned well. After much convincing on my part he asked for a different dish. He ordered the parpadelle with blackened chicken. He was much happier with this choice. Again the pasta was fresh and just right. We ended up getting the tiramisu and it may be the best one I've had. They ended up comping our entire meal which they most certainly didn't have to do. We had to beg them to ring us up for something so we could tip because rasheeda and Maggie took such great care of us. I would really have given this a 4.5. They only lost the half due to the other servers negligence and my husbands lamb. But as long as the ladies we had are there we will be back. read more
