My cat, Lady, has been to see these nice folks twice now. First time was for an exam and boosters of all the recommended shots. Yesterday, she had her teeth cleaned. Lady is a nervous type so when a friend said that she recommends them because they make a concerted effort to make the experience as stress free as possible, I made an appointment. Indeed, it is not like other offices I have been to in the past. There are not people waiting around with their fur babies. They take you right in and there is a white noise machine in the room. We instantly felt calmer. Also, the room we were in allowed her to look out the window, which she likes to do. Her human likes that too! There happens to be a beautiful tree out the window we were by. A technician, Stephanie, called to check on how she's doing today. We spoke at length about what has happened since she got home. She also said to feel free to call them until they close at 5:30 if anything comes up. What excellent follow up! By the way, my baby girl is doing well! read more

Very good vets here, very kind with cats. Kind of expensive, but then I maybe all vets are expensive now. At least they tell you how much it's gonna cost before you have it done. My cat has a chronic ear infection and as far as I know they've diagnosed it correctly and giving me the correct medicine, but it's just hard putting drops into a cats ear. The vet was willing to try other methods of treatment if this doesn't work out, and I like that. read more

I brought Lambchop in for his first exam since I needed to establish a new vet after moving to the area. They treated him kindly and made sure he was comfortable as he tend to be super nervous at vets. Luckily I didn't have any big issues to report so the appointment was smooth. I absolutely love this place! The veterinary care is exceptional, and being a Fear Free practice is a huge bonus. Dr. Braun took such wonderful care of my dog, Bear, making sure he was comfortable and stress-free throughout his visit. The only "downside" is that Bear got so many treats to keep his experience positive that he ended up with a slightly upset stomach afterward--but honestly, that's a trade-off I'll happily take over him having a scary or stressful trip to the vet. I just happened to check their Yelp page while we were there the other day and was so surprised at all the negative reviews. We have always enjoyed the treatment and service we have received at Sam Bass. They are quick to return phone calls and relay technical information in a way that's easy to understand. My 20-year-old cat is basically just on a "maintain quality of life" treatment. They have asked if I want the expensive bloodwork which, at this point in her life, isn't going to make much of a difference since we already know that she is in kidney failure. We saw them once for an eye issue that was an emergency and then a couple of years worth for wellness visits and vaccinations and such. They are excellent providers and they help us make good decisions about our cats wellness because they are knowledgeable about alternative medicines available and they care about the animals they see. They are dedicated and passionate about it. They take time to teach you. It isn't a mill where you are in and then shoved out quickly. The value we see in the money spent here is a great one. I met with Dr. Todd Murphy today. First of all, the office is so welcoming. Amazing photographs of different pet clients done by their receptions decorate the walls. The waiting room was large and bright, so people are able to distance themselves from other animals if needed. The staff was very friendly. My 14.5 year old dog had a mast cell tumor removed in June and a few weeks ago another one with the same symptoms popped up. Dr. Murphy was fantastic. He didn't push one single treatment but instead gave me several options that we could try which included surgery, traditional Western medicine and some natural homeopathic options, including addressing her diet. He took into account her age, my expectations, my budget and her quality of life. A lot of vets will immediately suggest surgery because of the tumor or immediately rule it out because of her age. Dr. Murphy understands that every case is different and you can't look at an animal by data and test results. The holistic approach is definitely something I was looking for and I think we will see positive results. I believe we are in the best hands for this diagnosis and I can't recommend him enough. P.S they had the cutest wallpaper in my exam room and I especially loved it because one of the dogs looks just like my olive! read more

As another reviewer posted, if I'd written this after the first visit, they would have gotten 5 stars. Friendly, professional staff and competent, helpful vet, who diagnosed my cat as diabetic and gave instructions for her care. Three months later I called with concerns and two questions and was told a vet would be back in touch. At 4:00 p.m. that day I called again and was told the vet was very busy but would call by the end of the day or the next morning. Day 2 I called at 2 p.m. and was told the vet was in a meeting but would call right away. At 5 p.m. Day 2, I called again and was told the vet was too busy to contact me. Morning of day 3 came and went and my husband went to the clinic to talk to the vet. Vet was too busy to talk, but husband was given an appt for the cat to be brought in for what would now be day 7. This is unconscionable! I have had pets all my life and have had contact with 8 different veterinarians, but have never had a pet ignored like this. read more

They are knowledgeable, professional, and caring. My first visit to the hospital, doctor left early that day. So was rescheduled to go back. Second time around after full blood panel, nothing was found. After one month, my cat is losing weight and health has declined. Going to take my cat to another veterinarian for second opinion. I really liked them at first. But then a new vet took over. I thought he was okay, but then... My older dog started having seizures that got progressively worse. He treated her with hemp oil. It didn't do crap. My dog suffered a lot. When I took her to the ER vet and spoke with a neurologist, she diagnosed her with a brain tumor. Before I went to that appointment, I requested her records from Bass. They refused because they wanted the request in writing. It was an emergency. All of my dog's seizures were traumatic. Now, two years later I requested records for two of my cats. They did it again! I gave them 2 days notice. Now, the evening before the appointment they emailed me to request the info I already gave them. And apparently they're incapable of looking up another vet's Fax number. I really despise them. And to think I drove 40 minutes to go there. Stupid. read more

I used to love Sam Bass. They used to be amazing - so I am hoping in the future I can update this post that all is better. I went in almost a month ago with my sick cat. She has diabetes and has been getting worse. We got some blood work done just to check on her. I have not yet received the blood work results yet. I want to reiterate: my cat has been sick. Her blood sugar was so low a few times I was worried she would die. This blood work was important. When I call to follow up, I'm told they will add a note to the system but nobody calls. I called to make an emergency appointment for my elderly cat who was unable to urinate. The receptionist told me appointments were booking a week out. She didn't consult with medical staff to see what I could do for my cat in the interim or offer any information of any kind. ( My family is new to the area and unfamiliar with emergency vet hospitals, etc.). I have to say that Dr Hill was fabulous with our old kitties and would get 5 stars for her knowledge and service. The front office staff, however, gets zero stars today! I finally found another clinic, who was also booked, but recognized the severity of an animal not being able to urinate. I paid for A consultation with Dr. Murphy for Stem Cell treatment for my canine's Thorasic Stenosis. I was told to come back on Monday 11/29/21 to have the initial procedure done because he only performed this on Mondays. I traveled 78 miles one way (~160 miles round trip) again to Round Rock from my home in New Braunfels, TX, arriving . I kept the appointment that the staff gave me arriving 15 minutes ahead of schedule. After filling and signing paperwork, I surrendered my dog for the procedure and was told to come back at 3:30 pm. I came at 3 pm and was told my dog was not ready yet, please come back at 5-5:30 pm. Not a shopper, I brought in my book to read while I waited. At 4:30 pm, I was told that I would not be charged for an overnight stay and to come back on 11/30/21 to pick him up. Confused I asked why he did not undergo the procedure as they had him all day. I was told that Dr. Murphy had left for The day and given run-a-round answers about why the procedure was not done. This whole event was unprofessional. The veterinarians I use to work for would never have done this to their clients. There was always good communication in our offices. Someone should have given me a straight anwser.
