We are not big fans of fast food and love getting to see towns off the routine road with their warts, charms, and peculiarities. Also, we almost always find great places to stop and eat that I'm sad more people won't venture off the highway a bit to enjoy. Happenings was this kind of place. Simple decor, it was all about the food, and clearly, the locals know they have a gem. And then there is Jeff, the owner! Jeff takes great pride in his food and his staff. He doesn't just greet customers, he engages and entertains them. Within minutes, we felt we were talking to an old friend we just hadn't seen in a while. Jeff takes great pride in his food and challenges you to prove him wrong. He was open to changes, too, and then, as we finished, came out to see if it lived up to his bragging, and it did! Honestly, this is the kind of place we wish were closer so we could become regulars, and Jeff was the kind of business owner you want to get to know and become friends with. We will go out of our way to stop in Happenings again. Sadly, we only pass this way 4-5 times a year. But that's ok, Jeff will make us feel like we never left.

Waiter said ok. Then the bill comes and they charged me $3.99 for shrimp. They only gave me 5 or 6 shrimps that I had to dig through the chicken/steak to find anyways. Monday 13th Went in for ice cream with my gf…read more We watched an employee with open sores on forearm handlinng food and ice cream, no gloves or covering The same employee, which later the manager confired, used dirty and soapy bleach water to clean off the cup and lid area. This employee is using the bucket of dirty bleach to wipe the top of the paper cup while the other employee, for the past 5 minutes prior to the cup incident is using this same bucket and rag to clean everything else. Counters, machines and etc We asked if that cup was for us because we are watching the same dirty, soapy and bleach covered rag being used to cleaned the inside rim area of the paper cup. The manager, insisted this the practice they use and are aloud to use daily. The manager had an attitude. The employee said they can make a new one. As the employee is throwing the ice cream out, the manager becomes rough with the employee, saying you didnt need to do that. After this, it progressively got worse. The manager made comments about how at this point, it was 30 minutes before close. That all we are doing is complaining. That he is going to call the police on us. Then proceeded to call the police, lies on the phone with the police. 1 employee says sorry then when the manager says something to her, she backs down. The manager claimed we were yelling, pouring ice cream on the floor (cameras in the store will prove otherwise), made a comment about other employees being uncomfortable. They definitely were visibly uncomfortable around him. No one was yelling from any side. Just really sad "customer service" from a "manager" because we didnt want to drink a milkshake with bleach. Trespass customers for wanting clean and safe ice cream. Even the police said they wouldn't have taken that milkshake that was made by them. Hopefully the owner sees this.
