This place is what road trips are all about out. When you're on a multi-hour trip and love to find the quirky and unique along the way, this fits the bill. Tucked away just a few minutes off I-64 in Barboursville, WV, this place offers eccentric hot dogs at a reasonable price. Using all beef dogs they create some wild and crazy options as well as the basics. Surprisingly they have non-dog choices and some vegetarian options too. Look, truth be told the dogs themselves are average, but you're not here just for the food. You're here for the experience. The place is decorated - every square inch of it - with stuff that looks like it came right off the Clampett's jalopy. (Look it up kids.) Bring your aw shucks attitude, because the punny signs are everywhere. And with a little planning ahead, apparently you can actually get married in the Weddin' Chapel. It's tacky and corny and therefore the perfect roadside stop. We arrived around 11:30 on a Sunday and had a short wait. When we left under an hour later, the line was creeping towards the street. Our line moved quickly in part to the friendly staff. The wait for our food wasn't long either. There was plenty of outdoor shady seating, but you can also sit inside in their "renovated" school bus. Is it a 5-star dining experience? No. Is it a 5-star road trip destination. You bet yer britches!

I don't remember when or where I first heard about Hillbilly Hot Dogs but it has been on my travel list for a very long time. We recently decided to do a trip to West Virginia and of course included this in our trip. When I was looking at their website for hours and such I discovered that they also did weddings and vow renewals. Since it was our anniversary month we decided to book a vow renewal. We had an absolute blast! The venue is super cute, the ceremony fast and fun and the employees are the best! The property was great to take some photos around and eating hot dogs inside a school bus was fun. Highly recommend!

Very cool place. Stopped here on Sunday leaving Kentucky and the place was PACKED right at opening. We waited in line for 45 minutes. Went the basic route and just got a corndog since I am not the biggest fan of hot dog chili, and it was the best corn dog I've had. Staff was nice. Must see spot right on Rt 2

Hillbilly Hotdogs is a MUST VISIT. We drove around 4 hours just to come experience the food and decor! The service was fast, friendly and fresh! Sharie went above and beyond to ensure that my little girl got her cup back when she didn't have to. This business is ran by good people serving great food. I would 100% recommend this restaurant. Fun fact did you know Guy Fiere has visited Hillbilly hotdogs? Now you do! Plan a road trip and visit this gem! The food and experience are worth the trip! We will be back!

Good hotdogs and bar food with a fun quirky atmosphere. I attempted and failed the Homewrecker challenge but it was delicious! Definitely worth the drive here!

Hillbilly hot dog is all about America. It is a go to one of a kind of a lifetime kind of place. I really fell in love with place. The hotdogs with a great number of combinations that you can have it with the chili the people the workers it's a one-of-a-kind experience and if you drive by there, you have to stop This place is an eyecatcher when you're driving by there's no way you just can drive by and not stop there. The hotdogs are good. The food is good just the surroundings and the friendly people surrounded by friendly people. We had a bunch of bikers there and they were so friendly I mean, I'm from New Jersey and I'm on my way to visit one of the greatest friends and on my way home hillbilly hot dog is roadside of like wow Look you have some negative comments on here and I gotta tell you people are so stupid. I don't understand why people have to write such negative stupid things like they're expecting like a five star Michelin star restaurant out of a hotdog place. I mean, let's get real this place it's one of the greatest places in the United States to visit, especially in the middle of West Virginia . I love the people and I love West Virginia and I love this place and every time I go to West Virginia from now on I will be stopping at hillbilly hotdogs. It's just the American thing to do. I'm sorry this is one of the greatest experiences of my life. Go to West Virginia.

I have been here a few times but I had my mom and aunt both grew up in West Virginia and just live a good chili slaw dog. Hillbilly Hotdogs did not disappoint they both loved it. Super quick service food was hot and the super fresh and crispy. The atmosphere is a hoot charming and always part of the experience. If you are in the area worth the trip just a short drive off I64 in Huntington

Fun crazy place, it took longer to look at everything than ordering and eating. Be careful pulling in and out of this place it is situated along a busy highway. Food wasn't great, but what do you want for a hotdog. It was a one time visit for me just to say I seen it. Kinda cool to dine in an old bus though.

Like most, we came here based on their appearance on the Food Network. Additionally, we got recommendations from other vegetarians. We tried the portobello burger and portobello hotdog and I have to say both were really good. There are a ton of options both vegetarian and not. The service was good and quick. As for the ambiance, great idea but extremely overdone to the point of not being funny. Some things were clever like the Spam tin salt & pepper holders. Just my opinion, obviously. Both parking and seating is plentiful, nothing to worry about if you're an oversized vehicle or oversized group. Seating options include indoors in an old wrecked school bus, outdoors on numerous picnic benches and an upstairs porch.

This is one of those places that's a diamond and the rough. You never know you have to come here until you get here and you're amazed that it exists. There is some excellent food but even better people watching. We didn't get to try a homewrecker because they are out for the season however the hot dogs we did try we're tasty and filling. I'm actually glad we only got three instead of four because I would have been full. The onion rings were beer battered and not overly greasy. The variety of hot dogs you can order are endless as well as creating your own. They also have hamburgers but we didn't try any of that We only tried hot dogs. The seating is limited on busy days so if you are staying nearby you can get it to go or if you want the whole experience you can sit in the school bus and eat your hot dogs. The whole thing is quite the experience.

I live it, a bit pricey for hot dogs, but not bad. Love the look and general redneck aesthetics. Best hot dogs around!

Once our table was ready, we were notified by the hostess and seated at a high top near the bar (bar seating it first come first serve at the bar). They also have low top tables for parties of 4 to 6. Despite being close to the bar, we were still able to talk easily and noise level was acceptable. Our server was pleasant and knowledgeable of the menu and made some helpful suggestions that we used. We ordered a pickle fries appetizer with ranch dipping sauce with our drinks. These came out quickly and were still hot from the fryer but they were good and the homemade ranch was really good (our server advised they make all their sauces and dips in house). For our mains, we both ordered the original burger - a half pound burger on a bun with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles topped with ketchup, mustard and mayo. We also opted to pay an extra fifty cents to add cheese (American for me and provolone for her). We also opted to pay an extra fee to add sweet potato fries and onion rings to our meals as opposed to fresh cut chips. The burgers were a little slow getting out and drinks began to run dry. Once our burgers came out, they looked great but mine was a little salty and I could taste the salt over the other toppings in my first bite. After that the burger leveled out and we enjoyed our meal. My wife did not like the Maple Siracha dipping sauce that came with her sweet potato fries and after trying it, I was not impressed either. All in all, a good meal at a fair price. Good place for a casual date.
