would have been 2 star rating two or three years ago, but they have certainly turned things around. The biggest change overall is the food quality. Fairly mediocre plain regular cheese pizza but most of the menu items are very good. Great Buffalo Chicken wrap, salads, and hoagies. Service is however often overwhelmed (not just slow because they are lazy) and the draft beer is WAY to expensive. $4 for a 12 (really 10oz) mug of Yuengling in PA left a really sour taste in my mouth. Also could benefit from having another TV, as only having one has more times than not kept us from eating there and watching a game (3 or 4 people can't sit at a square table and see the TV). However very clean and visually attractive place to eat. Awesome place for to-go service tho. Reasonably priced 6 packs (very wide variety) and fast kitchen service leads to that idea being much more desirable. read more

I visit Sam's at least 10 times a year. Everything I have ever had there was good. I often get a spaghetti dinner. You get a fresh baked small loaf of bread, and a salad with your meal. The salad is always good and fresh. The dinner is a good size and I usually have enough for lunch the next day. My wife almost always gets the stuffed shells. 2 beers, a tea, and 2 dinners are well under 40 bucks. read more

I moved to Quarryville almost 40 years ago.. there are other Pizza shops in the area but Sam's has always been on top of the pile...Pizzas are the best and all the other food is top shelf. ...and a cold beer to top it all off hits the spot. Do you appreciate sitting at a table for 20 minutes being ignored by wait staff and not even being acknowledged you are a breathing paying customer? Do you appreciate speaking to the manager and suggesting they need more wait staff and you are blown off as if he could care less? I would consider this the best pizza in the area. We always get our pizza and stromboli from Sam's. I don't mind it, but a lot of people complain about the amount of grease on the pizza but honestly if you don't like the amount of grease you can just dab it off with a napkin. It's still good pizza. This is our local take-out joint. The manager, Frankie, is very personable and the food is good. They have a good selection of take-out beer and serve wine and beer on premises (which is uncommon in this area of BYOB restaurants). They take care to keep things interesting and fresh. read more

Whenever we head out on a road trip hubby and I always try to find restaurants that fit 2 criteria - pet friendly (when our golden is with us as he was yesterday) and we look for independently owned restaurants, no chains. I had seen Sam's on a past trip to the area so I suggested we have lunch there yesterday on their outdoor patio. I was happy to see that even though it was a holiday weekend it wasn't too crowded and there was plenty of parking on their attached parking lot but Quarryville seems to be a fairly quiet town but with Sams being the only restaurant in the area I imagine it does get busy. Hubby and I decided to split a large Pizzaiola Cheesesteak and as soon as I saw it I was glad we did. All of their breads/rolls are homemade and ours was perfectly toasted and overflowing with steak, onions and lots of gooey mozzarella cheese. The sauce was delicious and the onions tender and they don't overdo it on the sauce which for me is a very good thing since I usually end up dripping something on myself. We also shared an order of fries which were also cooked perfectly and I liked that they were just a bit larger than a shoestring fry while not quite as large as your conventional style. Our server, Kendra, was very nice and efficient despite being the only server on the clock, not to mention it was her first day on her own since training, she did an awesome job and took care of the entire restaurant. In total lunch cost a little over $18 before the tip and was well worth it so we'll definitely be back to try the Italian Coldcut next time. Easy to find if you're headed to Lancaster or Strasburg without all the tourists or crowds and not only do they have awesome lunch specials but if you go to their website you can print out money saving coupons. read more

I ordered two slices of pizza to go, it was thrown in a paper bag that didn't even fit the pizza, so it was cold by the time I could eat it. A different time, a friend tried returning her sandwich because it tasted like it was bad and they still charged her for it. I figured the third time was the charm. Not. My wife and I had ordered from Sam's several times in the past and it is normally for take out. Until recently, the service and food had been good. I normally order a Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteak and Garlic Knots. When I arrived to pick up my order, twenty minutes from when I called, only part of my order was ready. The Garlic knots were not ready and I had to wait while they were only heated for two minutes in the oven. They were still cold inside when I got them home. Then there is the BUFFALO Chicken Cheesesteak. I'd like to know what they considered Buffalo sauce that night. There was barely any Buffalo hot sauce on the sandwich. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. I don't think I will be returning until they step up their game and I start to see some better reviews from Yelp. read more
