    Chicken Parmigiana
    Sue F.

I suspected my teenage niece needed someone just "to talk to". I was in town and made time to ask her out on a "date". I let her pick the place, I wanted her to be comfortable. BJ's Brewhouse would not have been my first choice for a heartfelt talk but this is where she wanted to go. And you know what? Turns out it was a great place! It was a Monday night and not too crowded - we were seated and greeted immediately. I had looked ahead at the menu and saw that Monday was 1/2 off pizza night. We decided that was the way to go. The 1/2 off pizzas were the flatbreads and the large deep dish. My niece wanted to try the chicken pesto which came on flatbread. Since I am a founding member of the "never enough bread" club, I really wanted deep dish. No problem, the crust types were swapped and both of us were happy. She loved the combination of chicken, tomatoes, and mozzarella and goat cheeses on top of the pesto sauce. I wasn't a fan but I knew a pizookie was in my future. We talked and talked. The restaurant was loud enough that people wouldn't overhear our conversation yet still quiet enough that we didn't need to raise our voices to be heard. We spent a long time talking and our waitress kept our drinks full and checked back a couple of times but she didn't make us feel rushed. I don't want to forget the pizookie. A large, fresh baked cookie topped with ice cream and sauce. Totally overkill on the sweetness but, since I subscribe to the monthly newsletter of the over the top dessert club, I was right in my element. I would not have ordered it, but my niece wanted the strawberry shortcake pizookie. A hot sugar cookie, a huge scoop of vanilla ice cream, strawberry sauce and fresh strawberries turned into my new fave. It was huge. It was decadent. It was too much. It was AWESOME! We had a great talk - she got a lot off of her chest and I complained about gram and pap. We laughed. We bonded. It was the perfect evening.

My beautiful, delicious, and larger than expected Greek salad.

My husband and I ate here in 2021 but haven't been back to the area since then. I have to admit, I had forgotten how truly amazing this little Italian restaurant is. It's simple and unpretentious - but wow is it Italian! From the kind men behind the counter, to the music, to the menu. We ordered weirdly. I'll admit it. I ordered French fries and a Greek salad. My husband ordered the ravioli with pink sauce. All this was to share as we've done for more than 50 years. I have this thing with fries. If they are hot - I love them. If served any other way - eh, not a fan. We'll let me tell you - I was served the hottest, freshest, best BASKET of fries I've ever had in my entire life. I mean sizzlingly perfect! Then came my beautiful SMALL salad - just as perfect and just as surprising. It was bigger than expected with generous - well, generous everything. Feta - smooth and delicious. Parmesan - thinly sliced perfectly, olives, tomatoes, crispy lettuce. I was in heaven and then I tasted the ravioli! Served so hot and cooked al dente as any pasta should be. We have zero complaints and only hearty kudos for Capricio's. To be sure this is a favorite restaurant. 5 stars all the way. (The reviews says I haven't mentioned the service. Well this review wouldn't be this good without perfect service too)

The "Special Italian " minus the mozzarella, prosciutto, fresh lettuce and oregano . I didn't want mayonnaise on it at all , ugh

It's hit or miss here . If the owner Joe takes your order then your food will be amazing but if the older gentleman takes your order .... oh boy . I ordered a Special Italian and what I got was not what the menu said . No fresh mozzarella, no prosciutto , some old lettuce and no seasoning but the worst part was that both sides of the roll were coated in mayonnaise ! Also not stated in the menu and I despise mayo , ugh . Our Texas fries had very little bacon and no jalapenos and my boyfriend's cheesesteak had no sauce even though the man on the phone asked if we wanted it ....very disappointing meal . Thank you to the older gentleman who gave us the meal he wanted to give us and not what we ordered . This is the second time it's happened and I hate being one of those people who complains but ..... if there's a next time I'll be sure to speak to Joe .

    Eggplant Parmigiana Pasta

Very low key pizza spot near the airfield but very tasty pasta! I had the eggplant parm and it came with garlic knots and a salad. Perfect take out for my hotel room while I was in town for a class. My only regret is that I don't leave nearby and couldn't save my leftovers. Nice touch with the fresh basil!

    Really good seafood fettuccine.

Amazing Italian food joint. Hits the spots. We love the tomato sauce in the seafood pasta. It was one of the best seafood fettuccine I've had. My boyfriend really likes his cheese steaks. The bread was delicious. We didn't get pizza but we figured that it would be delicious considering the cheese, bread and tomato were on point in other dishes. Too bad we don't live nearby or else we will be coming back again. We had a 5 star Italian meal at a reasonable price. P. S. The extra star is for my amazing boyfriend . He was the true highlight of it all. Haha

    Eggplant Parmigiana Sub

Don't miss out on this Italian gem in Lancaster! My son and I decided to check it out based on Yelp reviews, and we were absolutely blown away--Joe truly exceeded our high expectations! Even my son, who is notoriously picky about food, devoured the fried ravioli, chicken tenders, and his personal cheese pizza. As the sign in the window proclaims, independent pizza makers craft their pies differently than national chains, and my son wholeheartedly agrees that this is the superior option. As for me, I indulged in the eggplant parmesan sub, which was huge and delicious, but the real star of the show was the Capricio stromboli. It was simply out of this world! If I lived closer, this would undoubtedly be my go-to spot for Italian cravings. As it stands, I am going to make it a point to visit whenever I'm near Lancaster, and it's easy to see why this place has such a dedicated following. If you haven't yet had the chance to experience this incredible restaurant, you absolutely must! A huge thank you to Joe for the fantastic food and exceptionally friendly service! You won't be disappointed!

Not one, or two but Six came with appetizer, like I said, we were there to eat!! Tempted by the creative menu and the numerous seafood dishes, we opted to keep it old school, chicken cutlet parmigiana!!! A massive cutlet covered with love and a thick layer of oozing hot parmigiana. Fantastic! The cutlets came with a rustic bowl of penne in a tantalizing blush sauce and kissed with some yummy cheese shavings. This might've been the highlight for me. It was rich and flavorful without being heavy. For my entree, I ordered the seafood pasta special, which was gorgeous and colorful with shrimp, clams, and mussels in a lobster cream sauce. It was creamy and the fish was very fresh. I didn't pay this time, but it was a bit on the pricier end with entrees ranging from $25-$35. I really loved it here.

She spent ample time with us explaining the whole menu, some local favorites and the love that the owner/chef puts into his dishes. And she checked in with us often. Excellent! We had a great time on both visits. From cocktails, appetizers, entrees and our desserts, Maya walked us through everything - so friendly and knowledgeable! We enjoyed the sampler appetizer with bruschetta, meatballs and mushroom crostini. Very good! Bread came out with our soup and salad - my wife's Lobster Bisque was very good and my house balsamic salad hit the spot. On the 2nd night we had the crostini variety, with fig, honey, prosciutto - great! For entrees, the "Sunday Gravy" dish can easily feed two - delicious! An assortment of meat simmered in their sauce with homemade pasta. My wife enjoyed that on visit #1; my son went for it on visit #2. We also enjoyed the Chicken Milanese and 'Ndunderi - delicate gnocchi in vodka sauce with small Wagyu beef meatballs baked with smoked scamorza cheese (similar to mozzarella). Excellent! I'm a veal parm snob, and you just can't get good veal parm anywhere in Harrisburg. Until now. It was a generous portion and I literally cut it with a fork. The sauce was so good, with a distinctive acidic tans. The pasta was perfectly al dente, which is another rarity. Hubby had Seafood Fra Diablo, and it had a wonderful kick. He absolutely loved it. Again, pasta was al dente and oh my that sauce again. Service was terrific. Mama also came out to chat with us. It's obvious that they don't see this as a business.
