We chose SAM Termite based on some good reviews and they did not disappoint. They were slightly more expensive than the other bids but seemed smaller and more responsive. Steve was really great! He got right back to me on every question and provided some good guidance. We were not fans of having to fumigate. We waited years to long as we dreaded the idea and work involved. But the termites eating our home had to stop! It is just a way of life in our climate, I know. SAM Termite provided information on the gas and bags for our food goods (we chose to remove most to outside the house anyway). They scheduled the days to meet our needs and they kept their schedule as planned. The actual fumigation was sub-contracted out. I met them when they came to tent the house and they were friendly enough. They seemed to work quickly and efficiently. They took care to protect the eaves and peaks (which probably also protects their tarp) and were respectful of our home. Steve said he will be following up in a few years (3 year warranty period) to make sure everything is looking good.  I would definitely recommend them! read more

I contracted SAM's pest control after reading reviews on yelp. Steve of SAM's was great. He answered all my questions patiently, stayed in contact with me during the whole process. He always answered my texts or phone calls. Our meeting was cancelled because I had to suddenly take my dog to the ER vet, and he was very understanding and left the fumigation bags on my gate. His tenting crew was great, despite awful weather (wind and rain), and delivered their service perfectly. Kudos to them in crappy weather conditions. Phew! I think we got a major reprieve this morning. We found termite trailings in a corner of our living room. The first guy came in, poked around, and said spot treatment ($700) was only effective if they could actually find a termite tunnel and inject gas into it. A near miss would be a total miss. So he recommended tenting ... big hassle. Move plants take all food out and move out for 48 hours. $2300. This morning an affable fellow, about 65, came around. He tapped the wall poked a hole the size of a pinprick, and said - yeah, in here. Then he banged on the wall next to the ceiling. He said, "Active termites leave mounds of fresh tailings, these are very old. Likely the high winds and regular shifting of the house released them. I will plug this pinprick hole, and if there are active termites, they will jettison it within 24 hours, then we can think about the next step." I said, "WOW!, "You know termites!" He smiled and said "Yeah, third generation in the game." "What do I owe you?" I asked. "Nothing." he replied with a nice smile. "Gratitude, I said, "and a 10 star review." A+ for the work and A++ for the service! I chose this company even after I was given a "family referral" to another company. I did not get the same positive feeling from that company like I did from SAM Termite. I am in the process of selling my unoccupied house, which is something I have never done before. I was admittedly clueless when it came to taking care of termite damage. The professional at SAM Termite (Steve Magruder), was extremely patient and openly willing to work with me, even when I unintentionally sent curve balls his way. Steve was always quick to respond, was understanding, and was very accommodating. His crew was prompt and did an amazing job repairing the termite damage (evening taking it upon themselves to find the matching paint to touch up the areas they replaced). SAM termite did an excellent job with our house fumigation. While we were still deciding about the fumigation, Steve was quick to answer any questions I sent his way. We have a shade structure on the side of the house and I was very concerned that it would be damaged during the installation or removal of the tarps. Memos, and his fumigation crew, were super careful and the structure is in perfect condition after the fumigation! Nicely done! They also bagged some things that I missed in one of the cupboards. Following a 22 year hiatus, my parents decided to get their home fumigated when they began noticing severe signs of termite damage. My dad received quotes from several companies, but in the end, SAM won their business for a few reasons. Firstly, I know that Steve was prompt with getting back to my father. He provided us with a quote that was a fraction of the competitors, and appeared honest and knowledgeable. He was also flexible on scheduling when the other companies were not quite as accommodating. My cedar hot tub was showing signs of termite damage so during a routine maintenance while the tub would be empty I decided to go ahead and have the tub treated. What I didn't realize is the small timeframe in which the tub could sit empty so I began frantically calling around. I spoke to two different companies before calling Sam Termite and neither were able to fit me into their schedule and one told me their minimum charge was $750 - WHAT?? $750 to treat my small hot tub? No, thank you! Thankfully, I found Steve at Sam Termite - He made time to drop by the same day, provided me with an estimate that was 1/2 the "minimum charge" at the other company and came back the next day to do the job. Steve was friendly, on time, fast and quite frankly, I will never use anyone else.
