I went to this dentist/endo after a dentist told me that I might need a root canal. I was wth, but I wanted a third opinion so I went to Dr. malkami. He examined me for 1 minute (literally 60 seconds) and told me that I should get a root canal but it was my choice - that's why I am giving him 3 stars. Then I watched a documentary called "root cause" on Netflix. I was like oh hells no I am not getting a root canal. So my searched went on to find a dentist who was experienced and honest. I just had surgery and I was given lots of antibiotics through prescriptions and am glad I got this done yesterday because it could have become much worse like one time when I waited too long. I am terrified of the dentist and found out I needed a root canal. My dentist referred me to Dr Malkami. Since it was a referral I was a little worried having done no research on him before. From the beginning I told him I was scared and he reassured me that I would feel nothing and would be able to get Starbucks after haha. He answered all my questions and made sure I was comfortable and ready to start. Through the whole process he talked in an effort to keep me comfortable. I've never written a review for a doctor before, but my experience was SO GOOD here that I had to. After months of putting it off, I came to see Dr. Malkami for a root canal. To put it plainly, I was scared shittless. I hate the dentist. The thought of a root canal made me want to cry. Drills in my mouth?? Um, no. But, Dr. Malkami made me feel totally at ease. He had me laughing when I wanted to cry. He talked through out the whole procedure, so he kept my mind off the fact that he was taking my tooth apart. I had zero pain and the whole thing was ridiculously fast. NO EXAGGERATION, my root canal was a better experience for me than getting my cavities filled in. I had my first encounter with Dr. Malkami Oct. 31. I arrived there late which I apologized for many times and he kept blaming me and turning away when I apologized. I was under the impression that I would get a consultation first that day and decide later if I really needed the procedure because I didn't know FOR SURE that I would get a root canal that day, therefore my schedule was very tight with a client of my own scheduled right after the consultation. And it should also be MY decision. However, when he saw that I didn't want to get the root canal on the same day he kept pushing me and told me he was disappointed in my decision. A little side note, I was having one of the worst days health condition wise, my inflammation was bad and not being able to sleep the night before, I didn't feel comfortable getting the surgery when my body wasn't in a good condition. I know my body the best and he did not try to understand my situation at all. He said he didn't want me to leave because I was scared of the pain, which I told him that was not the reason. I tried resolving this miscommunication by leaving him a message on here but only got a response telling me to remove my review. He may be a good surgeon but from my experience, he did not care about his patients at all. read more

I am so glad that Dr. Malkami was the endodontist that performed my root canal yesterday. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Malkami. I am probably one of the worst dental patients, in terms of fear, there is. Dr. Malkami is truly a great doctor and so gentle. I hate needles or doing any dental work due to childhood bad experiences, and having to do a root canal is my worst nightmare. I went in completely nervous and scared, but he eased my fear right away. The anesthetic shots hurt a little, but that was it. The rest of the procedure Dr. Malkami was so professional and gentle, I didn't feel any pain. He let me know what he was doing and what next steps were. This was the worst experience I have ever had with a health care provider. Honestly traumatizing. I was referred to dentist from my regular dentist (whom i cherish even more after coming here) because I needed a specialist with my root canal. My regular dentist already did most of the work and I went to this malkami saman to finish up the last part of the last canal. I paid $1,200 for torture. First of all the dental assistant looked as if she hated her job and did not want to be there. She basically just grunted at me when i asked her questions and she was watching the tv the most of the procedure. I think her name was Janet. The dentist was nice at first, making coversation, he came in saying that there was going to be no pain at all because there was no pain at this dentistry. This was a complete lie. I was in pain the whole time. He gave me the numbing shot and did not wait at all to start working. I told him i was not numb. Usually at my dentist, he waits until I am numb to start working. Nope not with this one. He just said I will push some numbing agent into your canal and you wont feel a thing. It did not work. I told him i was in pain and tears literally streaming from my face. I'm shaking but he kept on going. I think maybe since he only had a little bit to do since my dentist did basically all the work he did not want to take the time to make me feel comfortable and just wanted to get it over with. I felt like this dentist did not care at all and just wanted to get to his next patient. Maybe they booked to many patients that day. Afterward he said that he doesn't have to explain himself to me but most people do not feel pain at all. What the actual ****?! He said that because my tooth was already worked on partially it would be more painful because it is more inflamed but the dude did not even try. My dentist did most of the root canal after it was inflamed too and he took steps to try not to torture me. I do not feel pain when i go to my regular dentist. To be fair my dentist told me that most of his patients have a good experience with malkami saman and he obviously has good reviews on yelp but I just feel like I need to share my experience because even if I don't respond the same as other patients to meds, i felt he had a lack of regard for me. You are a specialist, try something different if your regular routine isnt working!. I'm just so glad it is over and I will NEVER GO BACK. proceed with caution. read more

Absolutely Fantastic! I was referred to Dr Malkami by my General Dentist because of an abscess. I was able to make an appointment and schedule the actual treatment with no hassle. The staff was really professional and friendly. Dr Malkami was absolutely superb. The treatment was painless and he and Janet kept me entertained the whole time he was doing the procedure. This kept my mind occupied and the time went by really fast... I was given a prescription for antibiotics to start days before and ibuprofen for pain if needed. If you are terrified of a root canal (I was a first-timer, what can I say? I didn't know any better), then Dr. Malkami is definitely the place to go. Let's just say even though I had a sick amount of dental surgery implements in/around/on my mouth, we still had a rockin' great conversation. Lots of laughter. The man knows what he's doing with the numbing agents, electric shocks, and drilling. Dr. M also taught me a great deal about U.S. history, a bit about the Philippines, and a lot about East vs. West German scientists and their roles in WWII and the Cold War.
