I reached out to Samantha about a cookie order for my cousins bridal shower. I'm not super creative so I said just white frosting and some pearls for decoration. Sam made the most beautifully decorated cookies that were delicious to boot! The guests at the shower raved about the quality of the cookie and the beautiful decorations on them. Sam is flexible, responsive and all around the sweetest baker I've ever worked with, including bakeries that have a 'celebrity' chef at the helm. You're not just another customer when you work with Sam. If you have a special occasion or just want some tasty treats, I cannot recommend Samantha Bakes Cakes enough!

A lot of people rave about their croissants as some of the best in NYC... but their kouign amann…read moredeserves even more hype! I got lucky and snagged the limited blueberry pie croissant on its last day. Their croissants are literally perfect. Light, airy honeycomb interior, a super flaky exterior, and a deep golden brown. I might just start making regular trips to South Slope for these pastries! Their chef Claudio was so friendly! He even offered to help us cut the pastries in half, which is how we got those flawless cross sections. *Blueberry Pie Croissant $11.5 The croissant was stuffed with blueberry jam and whipped vanilla cream! You could tell the jam was homemade with so many real blueberry bits, and they didn't hold back on it! The oat streusel on top was so good I was picking up every last crumb off the plate lol. * Kouign Amann $5.5 What really blew me away was their kouign amann... the outside is crunchy, sticky, and coated with a generous sprinkle of sugar. It's super buttery and pulls apart perfectly with gorgeous honeycomb layers. *Ham and Gruyere Croissant $8 I usually go for savory pastries, so this one's a solid pick especially for breakfast. They were all gone by around 10 on a weekend.

Friendly approachable service and the best KOUIGN AMANN I have ever had in my life. The crystallize sugar on the bottoms is amazing! It's a must get. Cinnamon bun was chewy and delectable. Perfect size too. I can't wait to go back to try the strawberry croissant.

I was a nervous wreck trying to get a last minute caterer for my daughter's wedding party. BK…read moreBites made it happen BEAUTIFULLY and deliciously! Had I known how great BK Bites would be I could have spared myself HOURS of fretting. Claudine really knows how to run an excellent business. She has a responsive and professional staff who showed up promptly with the array of beautifully prepared appetizers I had chosen. They were even ABOVE and beyond serving and setting up a raft of additional catering items my daughter had required. That was one aspect of the job I was quite concerned about, but I need not have worried. Claudine is very responsive to the client and took charge of our every need for this event. She even showed up personally with her crew to get everything in place before our party. The food was excellent too. I love the variety of appetizers we picked. (fruit skewers, beef satay, caprese skewers and cucumbers w hummus along with empanadas.) You don't need to worry about a thing when BK Bites is in the job! thank you, Claudine!

I'm so glad I found Bites BK and decided to work with Claudine. Everything was FANTASTIC and worked out perfectly! Communication was seamless, she was easy to work with, delivered the food exactly on time, and even made a couple dishes that she doesn't have on her menu. I hosted a party in our apartment for about 85 people and the amount of food I ordered (7 platters- beef sliders, fried chicken sliders, coconut curry chicken skewers, beef skewers, mango jerk chicken empanadas, spinach & cheese empanadas, veggie spring rolls) was more than enough. My guests all were coming up to me all night saying how great the food was! I also hired a waiter (Rustum) through Bites BK who was a lifesaver. He oversaw the setup with Claudine, passed apps around, tidied up throughout the night, and made sure my guests were well taken care of. I HIGHLY recommend working with her and look forward to doing so on our next party! You won't be disappointed!

Hit or miss with several of the bakery items. Some are tasty, others dry out pretty quickly. I…read moreshould not have to put an hourglass on the counter when it comes to purchasing this stuff. I also find a lot of it does not hold well. The cookies crumble quickly and the apricot hamantashen is fairly bland. I also got a raspberry one that is decent. Their black and white cookie stands up well to most others in the city. They also proudly sell Linzer tarts, which I had to get, and hopefully it holds up. If not, it will not bring this review down any further. I know what this bakery is without having to do that. I will stick with Cuccio's.

The space is small and dark, but everything is clean and well maintained. I remember thinking "Regina" owned the bakery when I first went inside lol, but I learned that it just means queen in Italian. As for the food, I tend to stay away from black and white cookies outside of Jewish bakeries as they're often disappointing, but these are right on par! Soft cookie, solid, but soft icing. Exactly like a Jewish bakery. The rainbow cookies have spongy cake and the right amount of jelly between layers. The chocolate isn't waxy as often happens in refrigerator cases. The pignoli cookies are another winner, although I preferred the pignoli free version, the amaretti. Chewy on the inside, a little crunch on the outside, just like they should be. And a light dusting of powdered sugar. Jam cookies and crystal sugar sprinkled cookies were similarly delicious. Apple turnover was full of apple and yummy filling, without tasting fake or preserved. Nothing at this place lasts long enough to need to be preserved! The muffins are inventive. I don't even think I covered everything... I got way too much and yet not enough. That's my only gripe is that some of the stuff I look forward to is sold out lol I really have to try the Cannoli! I know, I know... Marie is a wonderful host, as was the employee who served us. They will describe any dessert for you and box it up how you want it. They'll even make recommendations. I decided to write this review now because I can't stop thinking about going back.

And I had to come twice just for this pastry: BLACK SESAME & OSMANTHUS ROLL.   Eater has recently recognized Breadivore as the next-hype bakery. Located on a quiet street in Park Slope, it is very low-profile compared to other viral bakeries in Brooklyn, but their bread and pastries are definitely top notch.   The space gives cozy vibes with some comfy seatings and long display shelves. They sell mostly French artisan bread and pastries, but some with an Asian influence.   *Black Sesame & Sweet Osmanthus Roll $6.25 Inspired by black sesame tangyuan, the owner blends flavors she'd grown up with into European baking. It was nutty, slightly savory from the black sesame and floral from the osmanthus syrup. I really liked the flakiness and subtle sweetness. They only do one batch every day. It was sold out when I arrived at 10:30 on a Sunday, so I tried my luck again on a Friday morning. So worth it! *Cardamom & Cinnamon Bun $6.25 The bun was still warm when I got it, spiced with cardamom and cinnamon. It was shaped into elegant knot of laminated dough. The laminated layers made it special, with a glazed top sprinkled with Swedish pearl sugar, and a soft, fluffy center. From this day onward, a regular cardamom/cinnamon bun could never satisfy me anymore.

I'm still seeking at pastry more similar to what is served at Kouing Amann Bakery in Montreal. Croissant was my favorite. Light and flakey. Would be a go to spot for me if I lived nearby. At this point NYC has to have surpassed Paris as the best croissant city in the world. The cheddar roll was an interesting savory pastry. Robust and tangy bites of cheddar mixed in with some peppery bites as well as some thick doughy bites. It was like three in one with the variety. This pocket of Park Slope has become one of the best destinations for bakeries in NY!
