We placed a last-minute order for 200 cupcakes for our Jackie Robinson Day Celebration at MLB Headquarters, and they absolutely delivered. Not only were they accommodating under a tight turnaround, but the quality did not suffer one bit--every cupcake was fresh, beautifully decorated, and delicious. Akim was responsive, professional, and clearly committed to getting every detail right, even with the pressure of a large, time sensitive order. It's not easy to execute something of that scale on short notice, and they exceeded expectations across the board. Highly recommend them for both large events and everyday treats. I don't know what what is sweeter the employees or the treats. The owner showed us the highest level lf hospitality and went over their whole menu with us. Ended up going with their big cookies - Red Velvet Cookie and Chocolate Chip Cookie (Easter Themed). They were both fantastic but I was beyond surprised on how much I like the Easter themed cookie. Such a lovely bakery! I stopped in for some cupcakes for a friends birthday and was excited to see that they offered ube and green tea flavors. there was plenty of variety when i came by on a weekend. the vibe is super homey and the man i spoke with - i think his name was louis - was super friendly and so helpful! i ordered 4 cupcakes: chocolate, ube, red velvet, and green tea. the matcha was just ok but i loved the ube and red velvet cupcakes! I really wanted to like this place and support a business owned by a Black woman in my neighborhood. Unfortunately, she didn't seem to want me looking at her products - I thought there was ice cream in the freezer and while my friend was ordering cupcakes I looked at what was in the case. Again, this case is right there in the shop (not in some secret hiding place), in full view, displayed like ice cream, or like merchandise you can buy. She said "that's not for you." Um okay. Is that customer service? She seemed annoyed that we were there before the shop closed (if you don't want to make money close your shop). My friend bought overpriced cupcakes that were meh. I dont really like cupcakes but I was intrigued by the matcha and ube flavors. I tried them and they were pretty good! The buttercream is rich (surprisingly thick!) and the flavor of the matcha cream isn't strong, just about right. The cake itself is super moist which was delicious. I do think the cake to buttercream ratio was unbalanced and the price point for the size is pretty high so it's something I'd get every now and then to treat myself. I also tried it via Too Good to Go and cupcake tasted stale and hard, nothing like when I paid full price. It makes sense why the texture was off -whole point of too good to go is to consume food before it expires. I don't recommend getting it through Too Good to Go and, if you do, it won't be a good indicator of the quality. With that being said, this was the first time I've ever tried baked goods that were noticeably stale through that app -I get baked foods often and other places seem to give it away right before it goes stale. The cookie that's big enough that you only need one, but your fat ass decided to have two... yeah that cookie. Anywho, I decided to walk in and hoped they had more than just cupcakes...and they did!!! First let's start with how cute the place is. The decor just screams hallmark movie cutesy bakery is the best way! It's not super big or small... it's cozy. When looking over the menu on the wall, which has cupcakes, cookies, and cakes, the woman behind the counter told me to sample their chocolate chip sea salt cookie. I don't liked to be ordered around, but when you say sample the cookie... I sample the cookie. Biggest mistake ever! I fell in love with a darn cookie!!! I know people do the chocolate sea salt combo on a lot of things, but this cookie was EVERYTHING!!! It had the right amount of sea salt, that it didn't overwhelm the chocolate part of the cookie. I was so excited to visit this black own neighborhood bakery. I waited in line as the owner took orders. Once I notified her that I was her to pick up a To Good to go order the owner immediately became annoyed and was very rude and aggressive. I was appalled and taken aback because she was so warm and friendly to the customer in front of me. I felt very uncomfortable and the owner gave off a vibe that I did not belong at that establishment. I'm not sure if I caught her on a bad day or she directed her dissatisfaction with her partnership with To Good to Go on me but none the less her behavior was unwarranted. The owner should really work on her customer service skills. I will never patronize Bakery on Bergen again. To Good to Go app lovers BEWARE. You will get discount cookies but it comes with a side of attitude and aggression. Totally not worth it. Akim Vann, the owner of the bakery needs to do better. I tried the matcha and the Biscoff cupcakes, as part of a grab bag with the Too Good To Go app. Though the cupcakes were pretty, I found the frosting to be surprisingly thick--even more so because there's so much of it in comparison to the cupcake. I did think the matcha frosting was tasty. Not too strong, not too subtle. I just wish it were a bit creamier. The matcha cake itself had a pleasant taste, but the consistency was tough and a bit stale. At $5 for three cupcakes in a grab bag, the value is good in comparison to their normal menu, but still somewhat pricy when considering the quality. read more

I was ready to give my hard earned cash to a POC AND woman-owned company, however, they never returned my emails or calls (and yes, I reached out multiple times). On Sunday, I fill out the their online request form for a cake I needed by Friday. No response. On Monday, I called. I knew they were closed, but figured they would return my call the next day. Nope. On Tuesday I called three times. First they answered, then immediately hung up, so I called right back. No response. I called two hours later, and once again, no response. I love Bakery on Bergen. The owners are so nice and kind and the cakes, cupcakes, cookies, etc are delicious! I really think this one of the most slept on bakeries in nyc. I've also gotten their 2good2go a few times and it's generous and as usual the baked goods are amazing. They also serve great lattes and other beverages, so it's a great place to stop in for that. They have a small but cute sitting area both inside and outside, and a printer kiosk which is great for people who live nearby like me. All around, a great business! read more

we visited today with my toddler niece who uses a stroller, as we entered the lady who greeted me from behind the door asked us to close the door as my sister was getting her out of the stroller. she then asked if my dog was a service dog after the other male employee gave permission. even though he isn't a service dog she still said it was "fine" besides a horrible greeting she didnt allow us to look at the menu or pastries but expected us to know exactly what we wanted even though it was our first time visiting.
