This had to have been the worst hair cut experience of my life.
She came and introduced herself and seemed very personable at the beginning. She grabbed the picture out of my hand before I was able to show her, said "I can do that" and then washed my hair. Now, she would not stop talking about how terrible the type of hair I have is. I get that my hair is a little hard to deal with; I have very thick hair that can sometimes get a little poofy, as it was that day due to the rain. She went on to tell me that I HAD to either flat iron it (which sometimes I do, but like to avoid) or blow dry it to get it to look flat and desirable. Now, blow drying it makes it MORE POOFY, so I avoid it at all costs. She also told me that I should never have short layers because that will make my hair worse. I've actually had short layers before, and that was one of my favorite hair cuts. At this point, I was starting to question her judgement.
Before she started cutting, I grabbed the picture and tried to tell her what I liked about the cut and what I wanted. She looked at me impatiently, grabbed the picture from my hand, interrupted me, and told me she knew what she was doing.
So, she started cutting my bangs first. She left them VERY long, but she stopped with them completely covering my eyes so I couldn't see past them. I said this was a problem and they needed to be shorter so I could see, and she got upset, saying they needed to be long, but cut them enough so that I could see. Then she asked me what I thought. I said I didn't like it, tried again to explain what I wanted, but she cut me off telling me that she wasn't finished and it would look different after she had gotten to the rest of the hair.
She continued cutting my hair, facing me with my back to the mirror so I couldn't see. The only thing she communicated to me that she was doing was adding long layers. But instead she decided to take away MORE THAN 3/4 OF MY HAIR (in thickness). I did not ask for it to be thinned. Under no circumstances should my hair ever be thinned that much. There was more hair on the floor than on my head, which is not okay because I kept the length. Because she thinned it so much, there is a disproportionate amount of hair at the top of my head as compared to the bottom half of my hair. My bangs are the only thing she didn't thin, and they sure needed it, since she didn't ever come back to them.
When she was done, she told me to run my hands through my hair and feel how amazing it was. I don't know what I was supposed to feel, but my hair felt more damaged than when I had walked in. She styled it to look like there was volume and thickness, but she had cut it all out. If she had taken the time to talk with me, she would know that I like my hair VERY low maintenance. But she didn't, and she didn't let me talk to her.
When I voiced my displeasure for the haircut, she asked me what was wrong, so I asked for a second to run my hands through my hair and to look at it. She didn't even hold up a mirror to let me see the back of it! But, she wasn't having it, and instead sent me away while she washed the color out of my mother's hair. When she returned she said she had other clients and sent me away.
To sum up, she wouldn't listen to what I wanted before, during, or after the haircut. After knowing that I didn't like it, she sent me away with ZERO attempts to fix it or make me happy, all the while not doing the one thing I was able to tell her to do before she cut me off (transition my bangs so they blended with the rest of my hair). She cut my hair in an hour, with is really fast for me, since I have a LOT of hair. But I guess you can go fast when you quickly sheer off the majority of it. She didn't let me have a voice or to even really look at my hair before kicking me out of the seat, and silenced my displeasure not by trying to appease me, but by sending me away. She gave me a face frame that I did not ask for and was not in the picture I had given her, made worse by the fact that she thinned it WAY TOO MUCH, so it looks like I have next to no hair in the front and lower half of my head, with the exception of my bangs, which are way too heavy and blunt.
Now my hair will not stay in french braids. Wearing it down, it looks like I didn't wash it for a couple weeks, My hair had natural lift and volume, and she took ALL OF THAT AWAY. I can't look at it or touch it without getting angry. The only way it even looks remotely decent is in a ponytail with my bangs pinned up.
This is really disappointing because I've been working to grow it long, and while it's somewhat maintained its length, there is nowhere near enough hair to do anything with it.
She was obviously trying to get rid of me from the moment I sat in her chair because she wasn't a fan of my natural hair and, I guess, was overbooked.
Horrible cut and terrible service. Would not ever go there again. read more
