She's fine for an Instagram photo and candids but not for a framed family photo Long review: Natalie was very nice in person and promised us many photos of what we wanted with edits to make sure no one was blinking. We anticipated the photos for weeks and the contract said she would get the photos to us NO LATER than 12/24/24 Christmas Eve. I waited all day and she sent them the very last second of that day (11:58pm Hawaii time on Christmas Eve). I saw them only a short while later and there was no password sent. They said it was their system I should have gotten a password but despite that I was not able to access the photos until 12/26/24 at the end of the day (it was almost 8pm my time). So finally I'm able to open the photos and my whole family was disappointed. To give background, the people in my family photos were me (28F) with my husband and kids, my 3 younger brothers (one with a wife and baby), my parents, and my grandparents. I have done all the communication for my parents who paid for this. $2000 worth of bad photos. My mom's ONE and ONLY request was to have a family photo of her family without my grandparents on the beach. We got only ONE photo back meeting those requirements and the kids aren't looking and two of us aren't even smiling, it's an awful photo. I feel absolutely horrible for my mom who spend a ton of money on these photos with her one hope to get a photo back she could print up on her wall and now she can't do that. Natalie is nice in person, but she has not responded to my two emails asking about this and the only reason I was able to get a response on the password issue was because I put up a bad review. Well I'm doing it again, and not to get something but to truly warn people that she is not a photographer of her word. The editing was horrible, it seems like just a filter placed on the raw images with no touch up or editing like normal professional photographers do. Another thing was she did not tell us how to pose/ place hands, fix hair, nothing like that which I am used to in professional experienced photographers. A wife, mother, and beautiful woman that lost her active duty husband while pregnant. It wasn't by combat but rather a motorcycle accident. Being a military spouse and mother myself, my heart really aches for this woman. The photos that Phoenix did for her, still brings me to tears when I look at them. These portraits even went viral on social media. There is none out there like this. This session showed passion and heart and those are the people I support. When making the selection, Phoenix just reiterates her passion for her clients. She sends the forms/contracts as any photographer would do, but more. She sent an "about me questionnaire." The cutest details from favorite music, weird things someone might not know about you, and MUCH MUCH more. Why? Because she genuinely wants to know you and cares. We weren't sure on where to pick for a location. We knew our vision and explained it to her. She did her own hunting and sent us pics of locations and ideas too. I seriously and literally mean THE EXTRA MILE. The day of the shoot. She arrives ready, fun, energetic, and with that heart and passion that I knew was the right pick for us. It was like having fun with a family member and creating memories with her. Start to finish her emails and correspondence aren't generic. They are SO DETAILED with next steps, how long, extra you can get...I'm talking second to NONE on her detailing everything out. New Year's morning we get to wake up to the finished project. We never felt rushed during the session--she allowed plenty of time for diaper changes and feeding. In fact, we even went overtime because she genuinely wanted to ensure we got all the poses we wanted.
