Went there with my beloved family for fun evening. We ordered Gobi 65 for our starter which was good but I have had better ones. For our entrees we ordered a mysore dosa which was quite large but taste was just ok; the dosa was a bit dry . We ordered paneer tikka masala which was pretty good but I have had better ones. We also ordered a Samburna style goat curry and it taste great but they were a bit skimpy on the goat meat portions So overall pretty good but since there are so many options out there, I will grade this one average + but not more

We have been to samburna multiple times and recently for their banana leaf festival. Pros: Some of their curries are really good and flavorful. Banana leaf festival food was tasty and good menu. Appreciate that they have a kids menu. Cons: Service is absolutely terrible. Waiters take ages to get to you for your order and even longer to get out the actual order. Every time we have been here I have had to request multiple times for my food to be served. And they always mess up in serving too. Got the wrong curries in the banana leaf festival and they also missed serving some items listed on the menu. Despite receiving our food so late, owner lady asked us to finish soon because there were 5 parties waiting for a table. Absolutely ridiculous! Their mutton biryani is terrible. Just chunks of flavorless meat in flavorless rice. Though they have a kids menu, the Sambhar -chutney served for kids is too spicy for kids to handle. Overall I do not recommend this place.

Yelp unfortunately doesn't allow a 0 star! So stuck this at 1. I'm flabbergasted at how this restaurant averages a 4 star on Yelp and YouTube. Or even how this restaurant is in business. Went there for dinner with my friends and came back supremely disappointed and angry at myself for driving that far to eat such substandard food. It was stale, insipid and had no flavors whatsoever! Service was abysmal. Everything tasted like it was stored and heated.

If you want authentic south Indian food and are not turned off by bad service and questionable cleanliness, this place is for you! The food is outstanding! But that should be taken with a big grain of salt, considering im a white woman from Eastern Europe who chooses a spice level zero at most places! We went here with a guide who knows his Indian food and made amazing recommendations. My personal favorite was the Malabar chicken curry, which is served with rice. But way better enjoyed with the paratha. Curry is spicy and falovorful. The paratha is so flaky and delicious! Another favorite was Gobi Manchurian. Everyone loved it! Goat byriani is delicious, flavorful and has a nice kick! One plus is that food comes out fast. Things I didn't love here: plastic water bottles...what a waste! Servers kept trying to take the last menu away and were hovering. And yet I still felt like I had to ask for water, utensils and napkins multiple times.

The restaurant has been on my list for a long time after reading fantastic views on yelp and knowing that their specialty is dosa. I'm very picky about the quality of Indian food when I dine at a restaurant and will usually dine at certain restaurants on the east side or Seattle but since I was in Bothell today, I thought I would try it I dined in by myself at lunch time on a Saturday and ordered a Mysore Masala dosa, and asked for a butter chicken to go so that I could bring it home. The server was very nice and attentive. The restaurant was clean, but I noticed there were small plastic single use disposable water bottles at the table, which was odd for a restaurant. The dosa batter was good and the edges were crispy. The masala potatoes filling could have used more spice and salt. It seemed to lack flavor - the tomato and coconut dipping sauce were really good and the sambar was all right. When I got home and looked at the butter chicken that I ordered for take out I was surprised at how little there was for $17. It was enough for one single serving for my husband and that was it. I am glad I did not haul my family all the way to Bothell to eat here as it would've been a major disappointment. Regarding dosa, I much prefer Dosa House in Bellevue as the food is better. There are so many other Indian restaurants in Seattle and the Eastside to order the other dishes on the menu that I would not trek here to do that. I am perplexed how this place has so many high ratings on yelp.

Great authentic food. Took Podi iddli which was amazing , egg as appetizer and masala dosa. I still feel they can improve on dosa freshness to taste it not sour. Service was not very quick as it looks like they have lots of delivery order and it's a small place. Ambience is small decent restaurant .

Authentic Indian restaurant, famous for dosa. My Indian friends recommended this one. Come early like 6 PM to avoid the crowd. They have dosa night on Wednesday. I believe it was a buffet dosa, but not anymore. You will get about 5 kinds of small dosa for around $15. I found there are not many meats for dishes like chicken or lamb dishes. Hence taking one star out for the value. Service is average, not above or below expectations.

We tried to go here a few weeks ago and it was packed with no one helping the people waiting at the door, so we went somewhere else. The crowd spoke well for the food which is why we decided we'd try again! The first thing I noticed was water bottles on all the tables, which raised a few questions. Bad water? Less care for the environment? We were seated awkwardly in the middle of the small restaurant. The sound of clanging utensils from the kitchen was loud and there was no music to balance out the chatter. We ordered Malabar chicken and paneer tikka masala promptly. While we waited, one of the waiters was extremely pushy about us trying to chickoo shake and mango lassi. I said no thanks (not a big sweet person) and he kept insisting. We finally said sure . The chickoo ($6.49) was very grainy and the mango Lassi ($3.99) only slightly cool. I checked in while we tried the drinks and discovered a 5% off deal - "sweet! Something to offset the drink cost!" The food arrived within reasonable time. The rice was fine - well cooked, nothing special, somewhat bland. The paneer had a good texture, but the tikka masala lacked flavor. The Malabar Chicken was spicy and tasty. While we were eating the same waiter tried to insist we order their bread to go with our food, but I refused this time. Upon paying for the check I tried using the Yelp 5% off deal. After talking with three separate workers, I was told the owner wasn't here and he was the only one who would honor the Yelp deal. I won't be back to find out if that's true. If you like a peaceful vibe or sustainability for our environment, this place is not for you. I really didn't like being sales pitched to about ordering things we didn't want while trying to enjoy a meal.

Went here for quick byte, last year before the 4th July fireworks, Food quality was below average. Not sure if it was due main chef not available or what, but based on yelp review I came and was disappointed!!

It's been 10years in Seattle and still just a handful Indian restaurants that are worth mentioning. Samburna is definitely one of these. It's been our go to place when we want some South Indian style food. Chicken lollipop was just about ok, but Chicken Malabar and Meena Kolumbu were pretty good. Chicken Malabar with Malabar paratha has been our favorite so far. The owner is quite friendly and had a good conversation with us. He was recommending some dishes which we would be sure to try out next time. I would say the ambiance might be a bit better than the other Indian places around. But only a tiny bit :) We want to come here again for Dosa night! Looking forward

Samburna located in Bothell serves Tamil food, a region that I am unfamiliar with. One thing I noticed is that they don't serve naan amongst their comprehensive menu. I generally prefer to eat pescatarian, but they had limited options. For fishes, they use golden pompano for whole fish dishes and tilapia for filet dishes. We instead opted for curries that are unfamiliar to us. I am not complaining; those dishes are flavorful and excellent choices. For water, they provide bottled water for each dinner; I'm not crazy about that but ah well. Three ladies serviced the dining area. They are very nice, and enjoyably chatty without being intrusive. At one point, my husband's dish provided to be a bit spicier than he can handle. The observant server offered a cup of yogurt to calm his spicy curry. We rarely see this level of attention unless at high end restaurants. Bravo! The interior is basic and functional. They are located at a strip mall where parking is plentiful, especially during dinner hours when adjacent businesses are closed. Side note: Reading the reviews, they seem to have a consistency issue with their food and cooking. We lucked out with a good experience. Their food leans towards true spiciness, not reduced Americanized spiciness. Be sure to ask for every dish even if the menu does not specify. The Food: Mutton Chettinad, $16.99 - 4 Stars This was noted as a signature dish on the menu, so we tried it. Whatever those secret spices are (simmered with onions and tomatoes), this was very flavorful. This is the dish that hubby needed some yogurt. That's on him, not them. :) Melagu Kozhi Curry, $15.99 - 4 Stars Menu: Aka Chicken Pepper Masala - Bone-in chicken pieces in a fiery curry with black pepper & fennel This is also a signature dish and new-to-me. I enjoyed the fiery and the heat of the curry. Not for the faint of heart, but if you enjoy the burn, this is flavorful. Masala Dosa, $11.99 - 3.5 Stars A legit and crispy dosa, served with 3 kinds of dips. Their cooktop is uneven, though. You can visually see one end of the dosa is pale vs the rest of it. Mango Lassi, $3.99 - 4 Stars Perfectly good lassi

What a fantastic experience! I came here based off an article I read on-line about Samburna's dosas. I didn't know what a dosa was and glancing at their menu I saw more than a half a dozen items I wasn't familiar with, so off I went! This was a very enlightening and delicious experience. Our masala dosa ended up being a thin flat bread loosely rolled with the most flavorful potatoes inside. Our waiter described it like a pancake, but it isn't nearly as spongey as a pancake is. It has more of a crepe consistency but firmer. It was amazing and incredible and also absolutely giant. I ordered the classic butter chicken with malabar parotta. The butter chicken was very nice - the sauce a bit sweeter than I'm used to but still very good and the chicken was fantastic. I was a bit surprised how little chicken was in my butter chicken as the chicken to sauce ratio was quite a bit of sauce and chicken I had to hunt for in the bowl. That said, it was plenty of sauce for me to take home and mix with my own chicken breast for future meals. It was awesome in that regard and considering inflation I get why they may need to cut back on chicken since their price point is low. The malabar parotta was another new experience and a delightful surprise. It was like if naan and a croissant had a baby. It's flakey, buttery, tears easily, and is a must if you love bread. As mentioned the price points here are low considering the cost of eating out these days. Considering how much food we ate and the leftovers I was duly impressed. It is amazing food for an incredible price. Our server was delightful. At first he was very formal with us, but he warmed up to us quick. He made fantastic recommendations, helped us understand how to eat the masala dosa and also explained the chai tea approach too. He never made me feel stupid and I appreciated that! And for those not familiar with dosa if you get one with a filling like we did the trick is to crack it in the middle with your fork to be able to spread the goodness inside! It was amazing!

I have a new favorite Indian restaurant. It's tiny, quirky, and the food is fabulous! That food. OMG. It's amazing. Deeply flavorful and complex, yet clean and not greasy. Clear flavors like you may have never tasted before, or only tasted buried in some greasy avalanche of stuff at other Indian restaurants. I can especially recommend the goat curry. Stunning! Everything we had here was good to great. The dine in atmosphere needs some work, but I am not going to deduct for that in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. They follow protocols well and are limiting seating capacity even when they do not have to do so. But the service is S-L-O-W, painfully so. And the music is ukulele instrumental renditions of christian hymns playing on endless loop. The music really did degrade the experience. No issue if they want to listen to that in the kitchen, but it's grating on endless repeat in the dining room and not the type of music I want to listen to while I eat. The amusing thing is the kitchen was playing an Indian news and music station. The sublimely superb food makes up for everything. And they have a great takeout system for those who prefer that. You should try this place if you like Indian food even a little. We'll be back. Soon.

The platter arrived in about 20 to 25 minutes, and it was absolutely worth the wait. Everything from the bhel puri, pav bhaji bites, samosa chaat, to the sandwich was delicious, flavorful, and very satisfying. The chai was also really good. Highly recommend this place for both the vibe and the food. We will definitely keep coming back.

Man, I really want to give 4 stars here, but I just can't quite give it the 4th, unfortunately…read more I had just finished a grueling four days* of working in Puget Sound, which involved a lot of being out and about without knowing where I'd be or what I'd be doing the next hour, so you can imagine how exhausted I was when I came in to order a nice takeout meal for dinner. For whatever reason, I was craving Mediterranean food, and when I was searching for Mediterranean food in the Bothell area, where I was going to be spending the next couple of days afterwards, this restaurant showed up third on the list! As I was looking through the menu, I noticed their main cuisine is Indian cuisine, yet they also served Mediterranean food, which I thought was intriguing, yet a little dubious as I believe that a restaurant serving a multitude of cuisines could subject themselves to being spread too thin in their kitchen. I had looked at their menu beforehand and had decided to get the Gyro Platter, Butter Masala with Chicken, and the Goat Biryani, hoping the Goat would also mean "Greatest of All Time." I also got some butter and garlic naan to go with the meal. When I came in, Azmat was there to serve me. He had such a pleasant and calming demeanor that I wish the quality of the food would have matched that of his level of service. After reciting my order to him, he mentioned it would take 15 to 20 minutes for my order to be ready. I was sitting in a seat by the front door while several other customers came in to pick up their online orders. I thought about ordering online, but realized it would have cost a few dollars extra to do so, hence why I decided to go there in person to order. After 10 minutes, a server noticed me sitting there and offered to assist. I knew it was early, so there wasn't much she could do at this point. 15 minutes later, an employee came from the back to hand me my takeout order while apologizing for the long wait. Well, not too bad of an extended wait though. But what was too bad was the two Indian dishes that I ordered. Neither the Goat Biryani nor the Butter Masala really left any impression whatsoever. They definitely didn't taste bad, but I felt the flavors in both were quite muted. I did like the Gyro Platter better, though, but I wouldn't say it was as good as other Mediterranean spots I've been to in SoCal. The Naan breads didn't leave any impression either; I would have guessed it was just plain Naan bread. For a fraction of the cost, I'm sure you could go to one of Safeway, Fred Meyer, or even QFC for a pack of plain Naan bread that would taste almost as good. Bay Leaf Bar & Grill is located at the base of the Junction Apartments next to McMenamins Anderson School. There's plenty of parking closer to the school, but parking adjacent to Bay Leaf is quite scarce. There's a wide bike path that almost looks like a sidewalk, but is wide enough for cars to drive through. There are a few on-street parking spots directly in front, but right before these spots, there's an alleyway that has a few parking spots albeit 15 minutes only. Some of the spots are reserved for McMenamins, but I do remember the first one not having any mention of McMenamins. I wouldn't mind coming back if I wanted a taste of both Mediterranean and Indian in the same meal, especially since the interior looked so fancy and well-maintained! However, if I wanted just one or the other, I'd look elsewhere next time I'm visiting the area. Overall, 7 stars out of 10, but rounded down. * My visit was back in November of 2025; I had gone on a hiatus from posting reviews, hence the rather last post.

So when the opportunity arose to share a Friday night dinner with family, we opted to try 5 Rivers Indian Cuisine, a family owned and run restaurant in Everett on Evergreen Way near 4th Avenue, specializing in Punjabi and Mediterranean cuisine! They have lots of amazing options to choose from. While nothing is specifically labeled vegan, they do have many vegetarian options I found them to be very accommodating to our vegan dietary needs. I've almost never met a Grape Leaf dish I didn't like so I had to try their version. They did an amazing job with the aesthetics, using a creamy vegan tahini sauce to really bring this dish to that next level. I also ordered Baba Ghannoj. Surprisingly, they advised their pita bread is not vegan but they gladly substituted roti instead, super flavorful and great mix of textures dancing around on the palette. For a main dish, I heard their "Vegetarian Thali" dish calling to me (but thankfully, it didn't call me Seymour .. .. .. ), giving me the opportunity to try a myriad of flavors and combinations. Given that a couple of components weren't vegan, they were graciously able to accommodate .. and provide me with a fully vegan ncombination of (from left to right) Aloo Chana, Dal Maharanji, Aloo Gobi, Basmati Rice and more delicious roti bread. Everything was delicious and super filling, I had to take a lot home with me. If you're in the area, I definitely recommend dropping by to try their flavorful mixture of Punjabi and Mediterranean inspired dishes!

It offers an extensive menu, and for what you pay, the portions are very generous! Our favorite dishes are the mango curry, lamb vindaloo, and the classics like butter chicken and tikka masala. We always order some form of appetizer. We have had the samosas as well as the hummus and tabouleh, and everything has been delectable! I always order their baba Ganoush. The smoky, roasted eggplant is savory and has great depth to the flavor profile. Our other favorite is the garlic naan. It is seasoned to perfection and roasted beautifully! Another thing I appreciate is they offer a spice level for your order. Spicy is a relative term, so I appreciate having a range to work with. 5 Rivers recently renovated their dining area, and it is very beautiful and clean. Service is always friendly, too. Overall we are very happy to have found such a gem nearby!

Solid offering. Plenty of different sauces to season to taste. We started with the American Salt and Pepper corn. That was my favorite dish of the meal - a tasty and fun offering. Nice to have something a little different and this one delivered. Spicy and savory. Loved it. We also ordered the yellow curry with chicken. It was good - flavorful and filling. Next up was the Singapore noodles. They were ok but somewhat lacking in "pop" vs. what you might get in a dedicated Chinese restaurant. The last item was the Black Pepper beef. Good but a little bland as well. If I come back I'll definitely order the Salt and Pepper Corn again and explore more of the Indian inspired dishes. I get the feeling that they are stronger in that department vs. the Chinese influenced offerings. The waitstaff was very good - kudos for taking care of us.

Losing a loyal customer : one bad experience at a time. I've…read morebeen a regular at InChin's Bamboo Garden for years. After my last visit, I won't be returning and here's exactly why. Unjustified service charge. We were a party of 5. Your own policy adds a mandatory service charge for parties of 6 or more. We were still charged 20% automatically , then handed a tip prompt suggesting another 20%+ on top. That's not a policy, that's a shakedown. We were overcharged. My physical bill read $205. My bank notification said $215. When I went back to question it, staff kept pointing me to a digital bill that showed a different amount than what I had in hand. After pushing back, they acknowledged the discrepancy and offered my mom and me $10 InChin gift cards each as resolution. The gift cards were a trap. They came with a 10-day expiration. I live my life , I can't guarantee I'll return within 10 days, especially after this experience. So that $10 "resolution" is money I'll never see again. I was charged $10 extra AND a service charge I shouldn't have paid. This wasn't a mistake. Mistakes get fixed transparently. This was a string of decisions that benefited the restaurant at the customer's expense and when caught, the "fix" was designed to keep the money anyway. I've recommended this place to friends and family for years. That stops now.
