THIS ASSHOLE DENTIST HAS ALL ONE-STAR REVIEWS. HERE IS MINE. A few years ago Sameh Aknouk performed an incorrect crown placement by installing one crown over two of my teeth. Recently I developed an infection in one of the two teeth. But because this so called dentist used one crown instead of two separate crowns, both teeth required removal. I had to have dental surgery to remove both teeth and now will require implants on both. My new dental surgeon stated Sameh Aknouk performed an ill advised procedure on my teeth. The objective for all of us is to keep our original teeth, but because of the bad dental practice Aknouk used, one of my teeth had to be sacrificed. This caused me to pay an additional $4,500. Dont ever go to Aknouk. He will likely cause you future problems. read more

I just left this dentist office within the last hour. The staff themselves are largely nice and helpful. However, i just had the worst experience yet with the dentist, Sameh Aknouk. Moved my mom in with me vs putting her in a home/hospital as she has Alzheimer's. I took her back to this dentist as her new top dentures caused her pain. His ONLY advice was she would have to keep the dentures in her mouth until her gums become red, and yes, if needed, sore and in pain, for him to be able to help her. I explained that 1. she has Alzheimer's and will absolutely not bear through the pain in her gums. Although I can go on about the exchange, I had enough and asked him not to say anything else to me while I help my mother out of the examination chair. I advised him that his bedside manner needed improvement which he appeared to not understand what i was saying. He tone was also condescending which is also why i asked him not to speak while I assist my mother and just leave. Could he just let me leave? No. He kept talking and talking and saying how is he supposed to know where it hurts unless she leaves the dentures in her mouth to then become red and sore. Asked him again multiple times to stop talking to me and he just kept at it as if who am I to tell him what to do. So, i blew up and started cursing at him to "be quiet" (obv not the exact words). He admittedly has NO experience with Alzheimer's patients and is a horrible dentist. Each time i brought her there for cleanings or exams I had to remind him of her condition.. Today is the last straw. Never going there again and I would never recommend that place all because of him. read more

Horrible experience. I visited for an emergency when my bridge came out. I had to pay out of pocket for the repair for an extended bridge. Two years later, I now have to extract 2 teeth and replace with implants because it should have been extracted 2 years ago instead of replacing onto damaged teeth. After the bridge repair, I met with the hygenist who cleaned my teeth, took xrays and told me I only had to come back for a root canal which I knew about. However when I returned for the root canal I was told by Dr. Aknouk that I needed ~ 15k worth of work done but he was pushing for me to start with cosmetic work first. When I asked why the hygenist did not see any of these issue, he brushed me off. I found another dentist and would not recommend them to anyone. read more

it's so crazy how i didnt look at the reviews before coming to this place because this is embarrassing. If i can rate this place a 0 i would. I had the most horrible experience. I went in there for an emergency appointment because my tooth has been hurting and as a human you know when something is not right with your body. I go in they take x-rays of my teeth and i see the dentist. when i tell you this man didn't even open my mouth to check what was wrong i was in shock. he's telling me that it's because of my wisdom teeth and im literally telling him but that's not even the tooth that's hurting me LMAO. Then he's like it's cause u grind your teeth there's nothing wrong you need to get your wisdom teeth taken out and he refured me to a oral surgeon, cool. Then he tells me i need a mouth guard so i spent 500 on that. Then he goes do you want a cleaning , so im like sure. So some lady starts cleaning my teeth and whatever and i see she drilling the top layer of my teeth and im just wondering like why is she using a drill for a cleaning? so she's sitting on the right side of me and she's cleaning the left side of my tooth using the drill and a tiny mirror and all of a sudden i literally scream owww. she's like not even pay attention to what she's doing. I go to her i never had pain cleaning my teeth that's so weird. Ok so a day passed and im like my teeth feel so weird an especially one tooth. everytime i drink something cold or air touches it , it feels too sensitive, I look in the mirror and i see she literally took the top layer of my tooth off and its like so bumpy so half of my tooth is like popping out. I went nuts i called them and told them the situation and the lady on the phone was like come in on monday. I go to the appointment, the ladies in the front just have this nasty attitude & i had to wait an hour when i got to actually see the dentist. I go in and he's like telling me she didn't drill my tooth.. im like sir you didn't put me to sleep, i came with a pain already and i left with a new pain and my tooth feels sensitive. He goes ok let me see, so he looks at my teeth FINALLY and he's like oh yeah... i'll give u some sensodine. YOU JUST DRILLED MY TOOTH OFF, MY TOOTH WAS FINE BEFORE I GOT HERE. I'm going to pick up my mouth guard next week and then i'm going to go to another dentist to figure out what's actually wrong with my tooth PLEASEE AND I MEAN THIS, do NOT go here and ESPECIALLY do not let them give you a cleaning from that lady !! like i said before i went for 1 pain and left with 2. read more

This man is a fraud, he ruined my teeth! Do not allow this person to touch you. He will destroy good teeth just so he can charge you for a bridge! Pray about it this man is a terrible dentist. I'd give this place zero stars if I could. While Veronica's cleanings are fantastic and thorough, this is by far the shadiest dentist I have ever visited. They lie to patients and tell them the hygienist isn't in even though she is. The want patients to get x-rays and come back later for a cleaning. Additionally, Dr. Aknouk and his daughter Dr. Marina Aknouk are only concerned with juicing the insurance company and making money. I wouldn't let either of those two touch my mouth if I was paid. Too many people were in the waiting room complaining of poor dental work. Look elsewhere and report them to your insurance company when they don't provide you with acceptable service! read more

I scheduled appointment for 9:00 today. Waited over 10 minutes for someone to come to the front desk. Was there around 8:40, when someone did come , I was told to have a seat, mind you there were others waiting too. When I ask what time doctor come in the person said maybe around 10 , I said I have an appointment at 9 she also said no reception in and will be in later. I explained this is uncalled for and unprofessional and cancel my appointment. This clinic wasted my time. I should have read the reviews too, because many negative reviews with this office and doctor. I will go somewhere else. For those who look at the reviews think about going to this office. A few month later ago I had a dental hygienist, clean my teeth and did a good job when I saw the doctor. He said I needed to have a bridge but he never checked my assurance and cal me back, so I will not recommend this doctor at all. This doctor has not favorable reviews in other websites. read more

The Dr. Wants to replace my a few of my teeth but was waiting for the approval they received the information on the request but never notified me about the decision I had to contact the medical department from job to fine out what was the hold up. read more

Worst dentist standing room only keeps taking new patients. He works only for all health plans. You have to wait my appointment was 9am was called at 12pm. Left cannot deal with that. Everyone sitting there complaining about how long they have been sitting there. I picked him because he was in walking distance. But, now I travel to see my dentist and she is excellent. Please do yourself a favor and do not come here. This doctor did a terrible job and I feel like he took advantage because of me not knowing how to read an X-ray. Crowned 3 top teeth and when I went to other dentist they told me they didn't need to be crowned, my crowns fall out and I have to weeks without a tooth all because of this doctor. My mom went to this dentist Aknouk Sameh to try get a replacement crown on one tooth; She left the dentist stating that she was in pain while he was doing the work. The dentist Aknouk Sameh said everything went well. Anyway she THOUGHT everything went well but when she started to eat hot/cold foods, the tooth next to the "crowned" tooth was super sensitive. She decided to go to another dentist being that this dentist she went to did a painful job. The NEW dentist stated that the OLD dentist Aknouk Sameh only replaced the crown HALFWAY into the tooth and realized that he CRACKED the good tooth next to it, decided to stop putting the crown and left it like that.......BOTCHED JOB!! Will NEVER return to this location and watch out for this HORRIBLE DENTIST AKNOUK SAMEH!!! read more

Everything stated below is true. Totally profit driven with no care for the customer. I feel bad for saying this but I hope this guy loses his job because he isn't fit to be practicing. Went in because was experiencing pain on left side of jaw. Thought it could be a wisdom tooth. Got there and waited a hour before getting x-rayed and seen. Finally see Dr. Aknouk and tell him that I'm experiencing pain around my left jaw. He looks in my mouth for less than 30 seconds, claims there are no problems and that I should return in the near future if I continue to feel pain... despite the fact that I told him I'd been dealing with pain for 3 weeks up until then. He sends me back to the waiting room while I wait for cleaning. Wait in the waiting room for anther hour. While I'm waiting another patient is complaining because, apparently, they neglected to give her the right instructions the last time she was there and she wouldn't be able go forward with a crown procedure that day because of the mess-up. Cleaning goes relatively smooth but geez it's already been 2.5 hours at this place. After continuing to experience pain for another week I call again to request my x-rays so I can seek a second opinion. I'm told by the receptionist that I'm not in the system and have never been there before...um no? I give all my details with dates/times and end up getting a call back 2 days later after they "find" me. I request a referral, as my insurance requires it, and schedule an appointment with another dental professional for a week out. Get to the new dentist and they start talking to me about the wisdom tooth on my right side...um, but my issue is on the left side? Turns out, Dr. Aknouk wasn't even listening to me during my appointment (I suspected this was the case) because they sent a referral for the WRONG FREAKING TOOTH. Moral of the story? Dr. Aknouk's main goal is to maximize profits with a minimum of effort. Plain and simple. He does unnecessary and sloppy dental work then charges your health and union plans the maximum amount of dollars. In addition, his bedside manners are subpar: he never takes the necessary time to fully explain your diagnosis and/or any potential dental procedure you might need. When you arrive at the practice, expect long waiting hours. The waiting area is small and overcrowded. Average wait times can be several hours. He sees multiple patients at a time and never fully concentrates on one patient's care. As a long time patient, I get the impression that his main objective is money, money money and mo money.$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Dr. Aknouck is quick to treat a patient and then he moves on to next patient in an adjacent room, without so much as a word. Worse offense: Dr. Aknouck charges your health insurance the maximum fee for shoddy work. In my case, he charged my union plan the maximum for dental work that I never authorized and I never was aware of until I got home and viewed a mirror. He remove a tooth I never authorized, replacing the tooth with a piece of tooth that resembles a Chiclet. Incident occurred over a year ago. This week, I visited his office to remove and replace the Chiclet and was informed my insurance would not cover cost of a crown. I was then inform if I wanted a porcelain replacement I would have to pay out of pocket. As soon as he completes the dental work, im shopping around for another dentist. read more

I came in for a cleaning and check up for the first time at this bronx location. The wait was long. I waited over an hour just to have an x-ray done. The person who took the x-ray was not bad. However, no one introduced themselves and no one wears name tags. After the x-ray, I waited another 40 minutes for the Doctor who was with me for less then a minute. The doctor also didn't introduce himself. The lady who cleaned my teeth was nice, but her cleaning skills were a joke. It was the shortest cleaning I had in my whole life. She also hurt my teeth and when I complained about the whole cleaning, she claimed that's how they did it there. I would never go here again!!!!! read more

The wait time is unbearable. The staff is unbearable to deal with. It takes 2 to 3 hrs to be called for an X-ray. It doesn't matter if you have an appointment or not everybody is waiting 3 plus hrs min for ur name to be called. I have family and friends who go for the convenience but we are all looking for other options no matter how far. I wouldn't recommend anyone to this location. read more

Went to this office just because of it's proximity to my apt.. Should have done some research first. After several questionable experiences I finally gave up when I told the dentist I was leaving for the vacation of a life time and he attempted to remove a very extensive bridge. I had gone in to deal with a problem with a temporary filling before my departure. I reiterated to him that I didn't want to be stranded on the other side of the world with a major dental issue. He told me that this very large bridge would be completed within the 2 weeks before I left. I looked at him and tried to convey "I'm not that stupid" and told him, again "no!". He was very dismissive every time I saw him. He didn't take any time to discuss a plan for the future and the goals therefor. I went back to the office of a dentist I saw literally 30 years ago, about a half an hours drive away. He had retired, but his protégé was fantastic! I revisited the dentist in Parkchester attempting to get digital copies of my X-rays emailed to my new dentist. The staff refused stating "we don't do that". They have a digital X-ray machine. They could have but just WOULDN'T. Needless to say: I will not be using them again in the future. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. read more

HORRIBLE OFFICE! Stay away if you value your teeth, time and money. If I could give this office less than one star, I would. I've had to go to this office on 3 separate occasions in the last week, over a 2 hour waiting period each time. (I'm using the terms male and female dentists because I don't know any of their names, no one has a name tag and the dentists do not introduce themselves.) The first time was for my first exam, after 2 hours they asked myself and several other patients to come back because there was only the one female dentist working and she had only gotten to the second patient, not a huge deal, I don't mind. I went back the next day and the male dentist who works there took a look at my x-rays (All x-rays are on printer sheet paper, not actual x-rays) and said I would need root canal on 2 teeth, which I had already guessed just based on how bad my pain was. I have really bad anxiety so when I go to the dentist, it's better for everyone if they use laughing gas. This office does not offer it, because of this my anxieties got the best of me and I started to tear up because of my nerves. I had never done any dental work without gas, let alone a root canal so naturally I was a bit scared. After I wiped my few tears away the dentist said "Now can we do this without you crying?" I'm 20 years old and figuring all of this out on my own for the first time, I have the right to be a little scared. We went ahead and started with the first tooth and he was in and out of there in 10 minutes, which means he's either good at his job or really bad at it. Having to go back 3 days later I got my answer to which one it was. I tried explaining to him before he even started the work, that there was a cavity on the other side of the tooth and asked if that would affect the tooth and the work would be doing, he looked at the x-ray for less than a second and said "I don't see one". I should have started off by saying that it is a CLEARLY visible cavity. Immediately after he finished I could taste the medicine he had used to pack my tooth, it was leaking out. It continued to leak out for the 3 days before I had to go back in to get it fixed. When I went back in and explained that I was still tasting the medicine that was inside the tooth they said "That shouldn't be happening" Well it is, want to know why? Because there's a big freaking hole on the other side of the tooth that they ignored. Less than a week and I had to go back in today because the filling has broken and my tooth is cracking and the inside is being exposed to air, making it super sensitive. The female dentist that was working told me that not that much had broken off and that she was going to adjust my bite, she did, however, notice the cavity on the other side of that tooth; which had gotten bigger because it had started to crack. She said "Oh and I see you split your tooth", no I did not, I had a cavity there which I told them about and the dental work I had done last time made it worse. She ground down the entire top of my tooth, which took her less than 2 minutes and then said I was done. I asked if that's all she was doing to it and she said "Yup" and then turned back around to look at her charts. When I tried to ask her questions about how that fixed anything she ignored me and told me to come back another day to have the other dentist finish the work. The inside of the tooth is still exposed and I'm supposed to suffer through it for another 3 days because of your shotty work? I've been in and out of orthodontists offices since I had braces in high school and my mother was a dental assistant, I know what proper dentistry looks and feels like, and what a good dental plan should be. Grinding down my tooth did nothing but make the pain even worse. Her dental assistant showed me to the door and said they would see me the next time I came in, I said "No you won't, I would like my x-rays, my dental plan and any other documents so I can go somewhere else, I'm not coming back here". No one in this office cares about their job, the dentist didn't even show up until an hour after the office had opened, making me miss work for the second time. I'm not paying you $750 out of pocket for you to turn me away without answering my questions, do crappy work and cause me to have a record at work for having to call out.
