A little context: Originally Sears was out (yes, they still exist). Having repaired a few refrigerators, garage doors and operator control boards myself over the years, I knew things weren't right with these Sears guys (yes, plural -- well, one in training, poor sod). They weren't dishonest, really, just excessive. Especially with cost (...pretty obviously constrained by dinosaur policy -- what felt geared towards getting a fleeced customer to buy a new appliance from Sears). The Sears guys estimated a four-figure two-man project, including for two off-the-shelf generic machine screws, $37 each, parts only. (Still had to pay them for coming out.) Bless their little hearts. I can see how people get bamboozed by this blue-shirted Sears "professionalism". Hearing good things, I contacted Daniil. And in a little more than a day, paid an eighth of the price for way more, better, no-nonsense, good natured, in-and-out service. With warranty. Excellent. We are fairly new to the area and haven't needed any repairs to our newer appliances…read morebut, our dryer is 30+ years old and stopped running. In the 30 years we've had it there were never any issues or problems, until one day it just stopped working. We didn't know who to call for a repair on this old machine, an original Maytag, and a model that is no longer sold. No electronics, no bells and whistles, just an old workhorse. We didn't want to scrap it because of the quality build. We needed someone who knew about older machines as well as the newer more electronic ones. We are so happy we called Bob at Canton Appliance Service. He arrived on time, diagnosed the problem, had some parts with him and within a quick half hour or so, the dryer was repaired, cleaned and reassembled. He was prompt, courteous, reasonable, and a good value. Googled it and seemed like it was 2-3 different options that I didnt want to start trying to figure out so I called these guys. Their repair guy was friendly, knowledgeable and fast. He diagnosed a bad fan in about 5 min. ordered a new fan was back in a couple days with it and showed me how the new fan was a new model # so this was a known issue that GE had since addressed and released a new fan version. He also explained how they only work with manufacturers they know they can get parts for quickly. Who wants to be without a fridge for weeks/months? I received a call back Monday at 8 a.m. Rick came out Wednesday on time at 8 a.m. I had received a text the night before confirming the appointment, and a text that morning that the tech was on his way. I like that! Rick diagnosed the problem, he ordered the parts, and I paid the service fee by check. Following the same procedure, he and Mike arrived at 8 a.m. the next Monday and installed the parts. Then they checked the circuit board. Nothing. Rick gave me a price for the board, including the parts he had just installed. I decided for that cost I could buy a new washer. The techs were very kind, agreeing, and charged me only for the service, which I'd already paid. They did remove the new parts to return. Note to self: If the washer is so off balanced that it "walks" several inches, get it checked out now. That rattling/walking can loosen other parts.
