I purchased 241.00 dollars worth of meat , and multiple employees kept telling me the next time to call in an order of that size , because it " overwhelmed them " so is are rude attitudes are part of this company ? I love this place. They make green chili brats on a daily bases. They are very tasty not overly spicy. They will put some aside for you if you call ahead. On holiday weekends they will sell out quickly. As for the other meats you can purchase they are great quality. Everything I have ever purchased has been great. read more

I go a few times to get a few things i miss at smiths or alberstons. Same quality but a little more, but the last 3 times i went they made harsh comments about paying with a debit card and the owners don't like taking them due to cost of processing, gets old after a while. I was told about this place through family. A hidden gem for sure. If you drive too fast, you'll miss it. They sell great looking/tasting meat. I went in just for the green chile bratwurst. Well, I ended up buying a whole lot more. They have dog bones with the marrow still in them. Yay! They are constantly butchering fresh game on site. I love the beauty of this. Wow! Totally disappointed in Sam's BB customer service. I have shopped on and off for the 6 years I have lived in the area. Usually I stop in just to shop when I'm in the area. I live approximately 25 miles from the butcher shop. I have called on two occasions to ask if they had a certain cut of meat available and each time their reply is yes. When I get to their store they make an excuse for not having the meat. I tell them that I had called earlier and they start lying and denying that I asked for for a certain cut of meat. Too bad for them. They lose another customer. read more

I get all my meat from Sam's. My husband loves the homemade pico too. Have to get there early though. It sells quickly. The burger patties are great. From frozen to grilled perfect in not a lot of time. The staff there is always helpful and friendly. I go in for one thing and leave with more that I need. The lady always has ideas for new meals. She will also tell you the best way to cut and smoke the meat. I don't worry about recalls buying meat from here. Great place, great customer service, great meat. read more

I've been buying from Sam's since I moved to New Mexico over 2 years ago. The staff has always been friendly and efficient and their meat, sausage and bacon is first rate. I'm a big fan of their chorizo. It cooks up clean and tasty--the frying pan does not have a big puddle of hot fat in it like the stuff purchased at the grocery store. read more

I was visiting a relative who I visited this shop with and was profoundly turned off by the rudeness of the woman who works behind the counter. I said to my cousin, "That woman is R-U-D-E!" And he replied that if it were not for the fact this is the only place to purchase from for miles around he wouldn't even bother I said, "Screw that, make your own green chili sausage. I would never return to that place again and wish you had not just spent so much money in there. There are better businesses out there to spend your money at." Sams Butcher Block processed some oryx for me in January and did a great job. This was my first visit and I was very impressed. I sprung for some $6/pound bacon to see what it tasted like and it was great! So a few more times when I was in the area I would pick up a couple or three pounds of their bacon which has been consistently fresh and very good. This last go round May 24 I bought 7 pounds of bacon. in three two pound packs and one one pound pack. One two pound pack I left in the fridge and froze the rest. I noticed a funky smell of the bacon when I unwrapped it to cook but I ignored it because Sam's only sells good stuff. I cooked it up and started eating it and couldn't do it. I tried it again a few days later (Wednesday) and it was the same. The bacon smelled bad, and looked dried out. So I took the 7 pounds back to Sam's to see if anything could be done. The response I got surprised and disappointed me very much. The lady acted insulted that I would bring this to her attention and kept saying that this is how bacon smells. I can tell when bacon is old and rancid. Then she asked me what did I want her to do about it and I asked if she could replace the bacon and she told me that then she would lose $43 cause she couldn't sell the bacon! I would hope not if it smells bad. So I said that I wouldn't be back and she thanked me so I thanked her right back. I spent almost $70 in her store that Saturday with most of it for the 7 pounds of bacon. Before I left I dumped the 7 pounds of bacon in their parking lot. I know it was childish but it seemed like the best use for their rancid bacon that I got stiffed with that I could think of. So I won't be back. They sell quality meats generally but when things go wrong they leave the customer holding the bag and taking the loss. Up to that point I was a new life long customer. Not anymore. We have a farming business and we will take a loss if a customer is unhappy so I know how it works. Too bad. Their veneer is thin. read more

I purchased $70.00 worth of Sam's green chili Brats for work and advised Lucinda, Sam's wife I would need a receipt to get reimbursed. I paid for it and took my receipt but did not look at it, tucked it into my purse to provide to my Manager for reimbursement. I cooked the Brats the next day for our work party and provided the receipt to my Manager. She then brought to my attention that the receipt was dated for 4 years earlier. I immediately called to Sam's and explained the situation and Lucinda advised their cash register was broke and could not correct the problem. Since I had cooked and taken the Brats to my team mates I could not even return them. When I explained the situation that I could not get reimbursed Lucinda did not care. If she would of told me about the problem when I explained I needed a receipt for reimbursement I would of made the decision not to buy them knowing I could not get reimbursed. She asked me not to return to there butcher shop ever again. I had spent a lot of money here and had told many friends. Why would she think I would return. I have told all my friends and co-workers about the situation and none of them or I will return . She robbed me of $70.00 dollars and I ask one question? How do you run a business without a working cash register. Sounds like this could be an Internal Revenue issue also. read more
